I have the Inamed, lowprofile mini port too. I just love it. It doesn't stick out are anything and I didn't have that large of a belly so it shouldn't ever show. Mine is 9.75cm and hold's 4cc's of saline. I have 2.5 in mine right now and am very tight.

Why R U Running To Get A Fill
beachgirl replied to kadrianmatthews's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doc wanted me to get a fill at 5 weeks. I have the small band and am sooooo glad I did get a fill because the first 5 months I dropped 60 pounds fast. I'm sure without the fill it wouldn't have dropped as fast. I just do what my surgeon tells me to do. I trust his judgement and every doc is different. -
I'm old as dirt and was banded 11 months ago at the age of 42. You'll do great. Wished I could have had this done 5 years ago when I first started getting heavy.
-
I went through that and I promise you your weightloss will slow down with too few calories it did for me. Why don't you try maybe just a .1 or .2 unfill. I waited one week, then two, then three and at week four my weightloss quit completely. After my slight unfill I started losing again. I'm afraid you will hurt your band throwing up so much. Good luck with your decision.
-
Carrie, I wished you lived close to me. Dr. Curry only charges 150.00 per fill and I think the first visit was 300.00 or 400.00 I can't remember. He is wonderful.
-
I agree. I'm thinking your probably too tight and need a slight unfill. I have the gurgling and I think most do. I have never had any acid reflux though even when I had to get a slight unfill but I can sure attest to though that you loose better when your not too tight. I know from experience. Good luck.

Yep Karik, you are beautiful and your weightloss is wonderful. Steph, have your doc prescribe you some prevacid, it works wonders. I hope your feeling better soon. Would you all believe that while I was too tight and could only drink I didn't loose a pound for 2 months. Now, although not much it's been 3 weeks since my slight unfill and I can eat any foods now just not much of them and I've lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. It's amazing how finicky these bands are. Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday. I'm leaving for Destin Florida in the morning and will be gone for 10 days so everyone take care and keep up the losing. I'm taking my laptop but who knows about reception. Talk to you all later.

Mexico surgery, maybe? Aftercare/fills E. TN?
beachgirl replied to princess_sophie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had Dr. Zapata/Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey. They've done more than 7000 lapbands now and have been doing them since 95. I use Dr. Curry in Cincinatti Ohio and he charges 300.00 for the first fill and then just 150.00 after that and will do your first fill in 4 weeks if needed and then every 2 weeks until you get proper restriction. I just love him and my Mexico experience was fabulous and I've sent 13 people to him so far that live near me and we're all doing wonderful. Pm me if I can be of any help. Good luck. -
I'm not sure but I don't think you should worry. I had mine done in Mexico and there was no preop diet whatsoever. We ate steak the night before surgery and they said my liver had a little fat on it but that everything was fine. I worried too and it was all for nothing.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. You'll loose that weight and more in no time once your rebanded. Please keep up the faith. Keep us informed, you know we are all praying and thinking about you during these trying times.

Please Help! Can I still have LPS if........
beachgirl replied to brehere's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was on and still am on adivan for panic attacks, restoril for sleep, and I take Loritab 10's every 6 hours for pain. I've had neck surgery, back surgery, foot surgery and 3rd degree burns on both legs from thighs down and still have 2 more ruptured discs. This was one of my questions too because with the pain I have I would literally die without my meds. He said I would be fine and been banded 10 months and so far so good so tell them you've talked to people who are in the same condition as you and they are doing great. Maybe the more research you do and facts you have the better they will understand. Hope you can get them to understand because my pain level has really gotten better. I've only lost about 65 pounds so far but I can tell a huge difference. I still hurt and will till the day I die but I'm much better. PM me if you have any questions I can help you with I would be more than happy to help you. -
Mine is a little tilted too but they can get to it. I bet there's a lot of people with this especially after we've lost some pounds. Hope your feeling better. I had 6 sticks the last time and I agree, it's no fun at all.

After surgery hospital stay lenghty???
beachgirl replied to cmacinga's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I stayed about 12 hours in Mexico then went to the Surgeon's guesthouse for a day. -
Hey everyone, Test was easy, I passed, YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! We're leaving for Destin Florida on Wednesday but since my back hurts alot we're driving the truck and taking the bikes with us. I know, I'm a baby but as soon as I loose a few more pounds the doc thinks my back will be better and then maybe I can be a real biker and ride more. Hope you guys are having a great week. Ride on

Sounds just like Dr. Curry. Isn't it wonderful to find a caring, sympathetic, understanding surgeon. Glad you have a good one too. I know some people on here aren't quite as lucky. Glad your doing better.

Doctor Says its a no-go - Any solutions?
beachgirl replied to nr-vsg2be's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine does too. I think your doc is just pushing for the rny imho. I would look too for another surgeon. Where are you located at? -
Mine is a good inch on the other side of my port incision. If they were to stick where my port scar is they would never ever hit it. They will be able to hit it with fluro. That's the way they hit mine and it works first time with fluro. I'm sorry your so sore because I went through that with my unfill. Stuck 6 times and thought I would die. You'll do great next week, I wouldn't even worry.

Well, Wish me luck. I'm going for my motorcycle permit tomorrow and haven't even picked up the book. My husband bought himself a 07 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100, yeah, I know they don't count because they're not a Harley buttttttttt, and so today he bought a Honda Goldwing Aspencade and I mean this baby is loaded even comes with a luggage trailer to pull behind it with a custom paint that matches the bike so he gave me the new Honda Shadow. I've been riding bikes my whole life but never had a licenses. Wish me luck.

PLEASE tell me this is normal!!!!
beachgirl replied to cyndilou29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just take a great big breath and say " I can and will do this for myself". I think everyone has one of those moments. We were busy flying to Mexico in which I had never been there before and was excited and amazed by Mexico I didn't give surgery a thought. It will be so quick and I had much more pain from my root canal than my lapband surgery. They will give you something for pain if you need it so don't be afraid to ask. You will feel some restriction after surgery as the band is pressure against your swollen stomach, or stoma. It won't last forever though and then you will get a fill. If done under fluro they hit it first time and it is not painful. Ususally it will take at least 3 fills to get what I call your sweet spot so be very patient. Also, don't try losing weight after surgery, just go by your doctors rules, this is time for healing not weightloss, that will come in time. You will be able to diet with the band with restriction. I am just not hungry and when I am can only eat about a cup so if you keep proper restriction you have no choice but to loose weight. Good luck on your surgery and pm me if you have any questions whatsoever. I'd be more than happy to help you. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. -
Hi Beth, I'm doing better. I hope and pray that our vacation goes decent. After what my husband has put me through I certainly deserve a good week. I finally weighed this morning and had lost a couple of pounds since TOM. I am feeling great except for my back and hope that my weightloss picks up. Sorry to hear about your Mom going away. Hope your not to bored. If your like me catching up on tv and a book is the best. Hope you have lost a bunch next week. Just wanted to say hi.
