I believe your doc has some bad info. That is not at all what the lapband website says. My doc said I needed too loose 120 pounds. I've lost 80 in the first 12 months and still losing just fine. My doc said to expect 50 - 70 percent of weight you need to loose in the first year and the rest in the second year. He is right on it too. I've seem many, one than sticks out is Edie, look her up, she's done wonderfully.

One year out and problem free so far. I agree, hitting your sweet spot is the key. It took me 5 fills but once you hit it I don't think I'll need any more ever. It's been one year this month and I'm a slow loser but still I've lost 80 pounds so can't complain too much. You will absolutely love your band. I wouldn't take anything for mine and I was self pay so I'm kind of partial to mine, lol.

My Doc, in Mexico didn't require any preop diet of any kind. In fact the night before surgery we had steak and all the trimmings in Monterrey. He did tell me after surgery I had a fatty liver. I said what do I do able that and he said you just did, you had the surgery. He said it would correct itself with weightloss and better eating habits.

I lost 80 pounds and it has been one year this month. I've sent 7 people to him and 6 are at goal already and one is in within 30 pounds. We loved him. Alma is the tops and Evette is absolutely gorgeous and banded. Janet and Judy are great too. You will love the guesthouse and the hospital. PM me with any questions.

So good to hear from you girl. I have been wondering how you were. I'm just now getting in to 16's but can still wear a few 18's. I'm 5'8" that could be the difference, I don't remember how tall you were. I can't get my ticker to change but I'm at 210 finally so almost 80 pounds and it was a year this month. Not as good as most but not the worst either. I like it now, I eat whatever I want, fattening or not just not much get full quick and it seems to be coming off slowly, plus, I have lost it slow and don't have any extra skin hanging off. I know a girl that had surgery the same day as I did in Mexico and she lost twice what I lost but has had to have major ps and now has 200 plus staples all the way around her. I don't envy that. So maybe losing slow is better. So glad to hear about your grandbaby. They are sooooo precious. I have had my granddaughter the last 2 days and she can wear me down quick. She is like the energizer bunny she never stops. I'm so anxious for the baby boy to get here. He's not due for 6 weeks but she had to go back to the doc today and is having strong contractions, not the braxton hicks so he doesn't think she'll make it another 2 weeks. We'll wait and see. I'm so proud your getting everything worked out. I had surgery one year ago this month and have lost around 80 pounds. I too found my sweet spot but it took 5 fills. My insurance wouldn't cover either so I went to Mexico and had it done and don't regret it one bit. I was able on day 3 to do everything I ever did so maybe you could take a long weekend. I was fine, didn't need anything for pain and day 8 was riding 4 wheelers all day long. I know you are discouraged. Tell you hubby that mine was a year ago this month and I've lost almost 80 pounds. I don't know how much you need to loose but you could be at goal by next May and be in such good health by then. I know we've saved the 20,000.00 we've been out so far in diet products, gym memeberships, diet programs, and groceries. Keep your chin up this too shall pass. I had that problem for 3 months but didn't go get a slight unfill because I thought I would loose more weight that way but be careful because I didn't loose a pound through all of that went and got a slight unfill of just .35 and lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I would get a slight unfill it will make all of the difference in the world. Good luck.

I have lost almost 80 pounds and it's been one year this month and I don't have any extra skin. I won't need any plastic surgery but am getting a boob lift just so they will be more perky but don't need any skin removal. I'm so proud too because I've seen the scars from body lifts and skin removals and I didn't want any of that. I think you will be fine and plus I'm 40 years old to boot.

You all look totally freaking awesome, keep up the great work. I'm banded one year now. Total loss 80 pounds which ain't to great but I have went from 24's and 3x to 16's and large tops.

HI everyone, Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Florida trip was great and working on marriage problems daily. My little grandson is due in 2 months, very excited about that. I guess I hadn't posted because as you know I went 4 months, yes 4 months without losing or gaining a single pound. The last 2 weeks I've lost 10 pounds. Done absolutely nothing different except I walking on the treadmill daily and that's the only difference, go figure, my band is so unpredictable. I'm leaving tomorrow to go to Nashville for another one of my get away for 3 days little shopping trips, they help my nerves sooooo much. Sounds like everyone is doing great. I just had my one year bandiversary and have only lost about 80 pounds which really sucks but maybe the plateau thing is over and maybe just maybe since I"m finally at 213 I'll hit the one hundreds sometime in the near future. Please pray for me that I do because I have really been down on my band wishing I had had the bypass but I have lost slow enough that I don't have any extra skin to speak of so maybe slower isn't the worst thing in the world. Yep, I started a thread and more than half went to Mexico. I went there and have done great. No problems whatsoever and Dr. Zapata is the tops. He's done more surgeries than anyone so far with over 7000 and has less than 1 percent complications rate. Free fills for life, or he will find you a fill Dr. close to you. He fixes any problems that might arise. His price includes everything, transportation, stay, aftercare, meds, preop testing, food while your there, everything. I absolutely love him.

Everyone knows I swear by Dr. Zapata but not just because I went there but I sent my motherinlaw, sisterinlaw and brother on October 31st of 07. I'm less than 40 pounds from goal, my brother is at goal and the other 2 are within 50 pounds. He is fabulous. His asst. alma is wonderful. She calls me every month or so. His whole staff is tops. My daughter is a nurse at Lourders where Dr. Agartaue does these and was having a fit because I didn't use him and I told her I have pics of the hospital where Dr. Zapata does surgery and where I was and it makes ours around here look like a clinic. I had a private suite with french doors overlooking the mountains of Monterrey. The nurses were fabulous. He's done over 7000 and my daughter's Dr. had done 125. It was a no brainer for me. I agree with you all. I use to love her show but I think she is getting so fake. It is definitely not the easy way out. I remember getting banded one year ago this month and I was at 275 pounds and I thought OMG next summer I'll be at goal and in a bikini, boy was I wrong. I went through 4 months of fills, unfills, no weight loss whatsoever. I had got to a weight I use to weigh for years and it wouldn't budge. Thank god in the last 2 weeks I've lost 10 pounds but it is not the easy way out. One year later I'm at 210 pounds still far from my goal of 155. I guess 65 pounds in one year could be worse but I'm very dissappointed but I have never drank and haven't picked up any new habits. I think that's bull. Good luck to you all. Wish we luck that this weightloss continues. I was getting my fills so tight I couldn't eat any meat and wouldn't loose an ounce. I was up to 3.25 in 4.cc's small 9.75 mini and now I'm at 2.0 and losing. Go figure. These things are weird but I can't eat anything now just not much of it.

Good luck to you. It will be worth every penny. I too was self pay. I pay Anthem BC/BS 700.00 per month for insurance for hubby and me and they wouldn[t pay a dime. I went to Mexico and had the most world reknown surgeon who'd done over 7000 and the biggest, nicest hospital and wonderful aftercare and wouldn't change a thing. You will be so proud you did this. I was only out 8500.00 but it's still the best thing I ever did for myself. I will be thinking about you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I voted for her. She's a sweetie, none of the others come close to her.

Dr. Zapata in Monterrey and he is fabulous. He's done over 7000. and he charges 7500.00 this month for everything. Hotel stay, travel, meals, food for after being banded, free fills for life and hotel transportation. Mario, his driver will also take you anywhere you want to go. HE's the best in my opinion. If you have any questions pm me. I have all of they're phone numbers, cell numbers, pager numbers, and staff. I also have pictures of the hospital. I love him.

Good luck, you will love having it done in Mexico. I had mine done at Santias Agracias with Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Zapata. They've done over 7000 and were fabulous. Good luck.

I don't know anything about him sorry. I had Dr. Zapata and he was fabulous. He is doing it for 7500.00 right now including every single thing. He's done over 7000. I can give you some info on him. Sorry I don't know anything about Dr. Carlos, maybe someone else on here had him. Good luck.

My doc, Dr. Curry, just emailed me yesterday about this. I had ask him could I take motrin or what should I take for pain. He said that any of them were fine for lapband patients but not gastric bypass patients.
