Hi everyone, I know I just got started at this but I just found out today that Anthem will pay for everything but 800.00 which is wonderful butttttttttttttt, I have to go do diet counseling for 6 months and then who knows how long after that until I can get banded. I was sooooo looking forward to getting rid of this demon this summer. Pray for me that things will go faster, I'm so depressed now I got frustrated and said maybe I'll just forget it. Thanks for listening to me bellyache, it is just so hard when you feel so bad all the time as I do. Love you guys, Sherri:(

Well, as you know for the last couple of months I fought with my insurance company tooth and nail and couldn't seem to get anything out of them. I today, at about 4:15 PM received a letter from them excepting me. Do you believe that. Here's the kicker. Also today, at about 11:30 am I paid for my surgery and then paid the travel agent for the 2 tickets to Monterrey. Is that timing or what. But, I'm not upset or bitter because all of the doctors here although much closer and insurance was going to fully pay they'd all done less than 200 and even though I'm paying approximately 10,000.00 out of pocket to Dr. Sanchez, I just feel more confident with him as he has done so many and I already have after care set up here and insurance said they would pay for that. Oh well, that's life I guess. Just thought you'd get a kick out of that. So anyone out there with Anthem (PPO Plan) they will pay. Sherri:omg:

The only thing I was going to have to do was see a nutrionist and a psych and that was it. I have Anthem BC/BS PPO. I still have my papers if it would help you any. Sherri I would probably have stuck with Dr. Sanchez period. He's done thousands verus all 3 doctors here done a couple of hundreds. Just not enough experience for me.

So sorry soundman for all of your trouble and sickness. I sure hope as you receive this your doing some better. I am really sorry all of this happened to you and thank God you have a good woman standing beside you. Everybody is going crazy wanting to know who did your surgery and where. Some of us like myself are getting banded in the next couple of weeks and it does spook me. Hoping your better soon, Sherri

Am I the only one with this problem!!!!!!
beachgirl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow Jachut, That's at the exact same age this hit me. I'd never been overweight until the burns. 3rd degree burns on both legs with debrieding daily and stuff was hard. Had to learn to walk again, then I had foot surgery, heel spur removed and that took me down and then the bad wreck. You explained exactly how I've been feeling. I'll see people bigger than me and wonder and in the crap are they doing that. I do think all of this pain meds are making me sleepy, groggy, and whatever. I've tapered myself off about half in the last couple of days and I do feel a little more energy but the pain of course is a lot worse. I guess I'll just have to wait until I loose some pounds and my neurosurgeon said that will take loads of pain off of my neck and back and feet. Thank you for your insight, and I hope your doing well. Sherri -
Hi, As you all know by now probably, I am to be banded July10. I'm 115 overweight and I'm 41 years old. I too, was in a bad wreck two years ago and Had to have a disc removed in my neck and peice of thigh bone put in and lots of brackets and screws to hold in place, and the year before that I threw 5 gallons of gas on a huge brush fire (thinking it was kerosene) and needless to say was thrown 33 feet and 3rd degree burns over 30% of my body(legs). My question, do any of you that are as overweight as me feel like _hit most of the time. I'm serious. I can work in the yard for a few min and crawl into bed. I can shop for an hour and come home and have to take a nap. Packing this weight around is literally killing me but I'm worried maybe something else is wrong with me and I just don't have any energy. Does anyone else have any of these problems. Just worried. Love you all, Sherri:help:

Thanks for all of your help. NO, this just happened after the burns a little and a lot after the neck surgeries. They say my neck and back are a mess. I'm on loritab 10, 4 times a day plus muscle relaxers, plus adivan to help me sleep. I wonder if all of these together could also hinder. So far my breast exams are all normal, so far. Some people say that that strong of a pain pill, plus the others would bother them too. I don't know. -
That was the most eye opening thing I've ever read. I get to thinking, "I don't eat that much" but you can bet I'm up on my laptop till 3 in the morning and about 2 if I'm hungry I'm going to have a pancake and sausage and a good ole coca cola, not after next month. I hope they cut my monster out and disect him. Sherri

I don't know what I'd do without all of you but I'm almost there so don't give up on me. As most of you know, my date is set, I'm put it on my credit card, I've paid for and got the airline tickets, I've as of today got my aftercare set up although it is 4 hours away, but that's no biggy. Here's the deal. It seems I've got almost everything on my list bought, bills paid up, everything I can think of to do and haven't been at all nervous about the surgery itself. But, today, it seems I'm losing it. I don't know why. I just want to cry and I don't know wy. I'm still more than sure it's not that. I feel some sort of overwhelming feeling and I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm just falling apart on a small scale. Did anyone experience any of this. It's just little things, nothing's happened and so far everything has been easy to get taken care of and 90 % of everything's done. What's wrong with me? Would appreciate any experienced bander or someone about to be banded to let me know what the heck you think is going on. Sherri:help:

I knew I could count on all of you for some good positive feedback. I guess I am just all caught up in this and can't wait on top of that. I really need to start cutting my cokes back bad, today. I dread the headaches but I'd rather have them now then after surgery. Thanks for all of your positive thinking. Love you all, Sherri
-
My surgery is in 3 weeks and I keep reading and hearing about shrinking your liver. What things can I do now, with just 3 weeks left to get ready. I mean as far as shrinking my liver, and I drink cokes really bad and know if I don't stop them now I risk the bad headaches after surgery stopping them suddenly. Any advice you can give me I would appreciate. I've gotten most every thing on the list to buy but what about my eating and liver. Thank you everyone for all of your help, Sherri

Need Doctor in Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky
beachgirl replied to Juli's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm in Western Kentucky but A Dr. Curries with Deaconess Hospital contacted here with a private message while I was looking for one and he's in Cincinnati, it's a long drive for me but he was so nice and said they don't usually charge if they have to use the fluro but he usually doesn't need it and he had done thousands of fills even though I'm having mine done in Mexico. I really appreciated that from him. I have his number if your interested. He said he would do mine at four weeks and would be very aggresive with the first one and then slowly find my sweet spot. It I can help let me know. Sherri -
Upcoming surgery and a important question
beachgirl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Kurt we're having surgery the same day!!!!!!!yipee Just different parts of Mexico. Good luck and hope all goes great. They told me I didn't need to do a preop but I was afraid my liver might be like huge or something. Sherri -
I take loritab 10 everyday since neck surgery and since by banding date is in less that a month I had him call me in the liquid. Yesterday I thought, I better open it and just taste it to be on the safe side. YUCK. It's a light green and tastes horrible. Sherri I now have 10 pint bottles of crap!

Hey Yall, This Looks So Exciting!
beachgirl replied to krysmaslily's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm fairly new here too and I myself had fought with my insurance company and gave up and now I'm self paying In Monterrey Mexico. I think it all boils down to how bad we want to get rid of this life altering mess called fat. I want mine gone yesterday. My date is July 10 for surgery. There are lots more people who know LOTS more than I do so you can ask them questions. I do know they're are all kind of financing companies that will finance at low interst rates for health reasons. Just ask. Good luck and I think you've come to the right place. Sherri -
Well, today I paid my downpayment to be banded and then paid for the airline tickets and even got our itinerary for leaving Nashville International Airport on July the 9th, and got all of my paperwork faxed. Now, it seems real. I've had more energy and excitement than I've experience in years today. I feel HAPPY! I sure hope everything goes all right. Just wanted to share my good news with my good friends!
-
We leave Nashville Tn. International at 8:30 AM on Sunday July 9th and arrive in Houston then on to Monterrey at 2:09 PM. Go in the next morning on Monday and surgery around 8:00 am and stay there that night and then I'm guessing go to the guest house the next morning and stay there that night and our plane leaves at 9:00 am in Monterrey then to Houston and return to Nashville at 2:00. I know I'll be nervous then but I'm not now. I quit telling family members because everyone was raining on my parade I just have you guys and I'm so proud everyone's concerned about me because you all will be the only ones. Thank you in advance. Can I take my laptop and let you know how I'm doing after surgery or not? What is your opinion on preop, they said I don't need one but I'm afraid my liver needs some attention because I take a lot of medicines for Pain since my surgery and wreck. What do you think? Love you guys, Sherri You know what I just realized, that's now less than a month away. yehaa:clap2:

I was told by someone in Dr. Sanchez's office that the fill doctors list Dr. Ortiz office gave me would work for him as well as he trained under Dr. Sanchez. So Sorry, just repeating what I was told but either way Dr. Sanchez has done enough that I'm comfortable. I will do some further checking next time I say anything. Sherri
-
It has absolutely nothing to do with the money. I could get my plane tickets back and I would just loose the 1130.00 to Dr. Sanchez it's the experience. All three doctors here have done less than 200 and Dr. Sanchez has done over 5000, to be there's no decision there. Just my feeling for me anyway. I want someone who's done a few and the one doctor had lost one patient and only done 180 surgeries. Now that's spookie. I'll stick with Dr. Sanchez. Sherri
-
Hey me too, July 10 by Dr. Sanchez, at least we'll be in the same country at the same time. LOL Good luck and everything will be just fine. Let's keep in touch with our journey. I have a little over 100 pounds to loose so I'll be a while I'm sure. But this is a life changing event not a quick fix. Everyone on this board is like family. You'll make a lot of friends. Feel free to contact me anytime. Sherri

How ever you spell it do I have to have a catherder for my lap band surgery. I know I've asked so many questions but I rely on all of you bandsters for knowledge. You some of you care to tell me your pre op tests, I'm one of those who panics from tests. Thank you so much and I know you'll all be proud when mine's done so I won't keep asking so many questions. LOL Sherri:help:

Well, I just got off of the phone with Janet and my surgery has been moved up from July 21st, until July 9th. OMG, that's not that far away. I am sooooooo excited. Please keep me in your prayers and I tried to copy that list of everything I will need. Only question, which is the best Protein drink? Thank you all for your support!:clap2:

Call this number 727-815-0315 www.ready4achange.com Her name is Janet, she can answer all of your questions and they do have financing available. I feel very secure and good about my decision. Here's my email address and I'm getting mine done in a month if you want to keep in touch with me and I'll let you know everything that happens. It's up to you. Here's her email address as well. Janet@Ready4Achange.com I am 41, female, 5'7" and weigh 260 so I have a 100 pounds to loose myself. Read these forums and ask questions, Lord knows I did. I have insurance but I got tired of jumping through hoop after hoop. Maybe that might help you. Just be very sure of your decision and Janet has been banded and can answer all of your questions and she's a sweetie. Don't get me wrong there's times that someone might say something very negative on here you just have to dig deep and do what your heart tells you to do and have faith that God will see you through it. OKAY!!!!!!!! What is up with the boards!!
beachgirl replied to Kathy473's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe it's just your server or something. Has it been happening long? Sherri -
Yes I have and he was going to do mine and I'm completely comfortable with him and the only reason I decided on Dr. Sanchez is the hospital there is bigger and U.S. owned and Dr. Sanchez trained Dr. Ortiz and he's done over 5000. I think you would do fine with either one. I can give you all of the numbers to set it up with Dr. Sanchez, he's doing mine next month and for 8500.00 and the air fair is being set up with they're travel agent at the cheaptest price. If you have any questions I would be glad to send you the number to talk to Janet or Judy. Nice to meet you, Sherri
