I got my first fill 2 days ago and wanted 2.0 for my first fill, but Dr. Curry kinda thought since I have a 4 1/2 hour drive each way he'd rather be safe than sorry and me not have to drive back the next day so I got 1.5. I can tell I have restriction probably not as much as the 2.0 but I can still eat and I can drink without any problems but my portions have been cut in half, I just don't have the interest in food I had. I hope this is a sign of some restriction. He said I could come back in 2 weeks for more but I am going to wait out the whole 2 weeks and see because I don't want to get miserable and today I felt like superwoman. I mowed the yard, weedeated, cut down a dead tree, cleaned house, just felt damn good for a change. Don't want to tempt fate.

beachgirl replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Newsho, I don't know where your replacement Doc is located, but if you want, I will go rough him up a little, soap his windows, key is car, etc. I'm still a pretty big ole girl. You just let me know. -
I used the vitamin 3 oils on my 3rd degree leg burns and boy it you don't think that'll take scars AWAY, not just lighten them, your wrong. Anybody that has they're doubts, look at my burn pics I posted. Wow, did it ever work.

OH lord I have, I got up early this morning and mowed and then went to town for supplies and when I got back it was 12:30. So then, I started weedeating, pulling weeds, cutting down a dead tree and our heat index at that time was 110. I got so sick and nauseated, I had to jump in the pool with all of my clothes on and shoes. Then, I checked to see if anyone could possible see me so I took off my clothes and ran in the back door. It's been happening alot since my surgery and when I got my fill Tuesday I ask Dr. Curry about it and he said it is completely normal and your body is still getting use to having had surgery and that in a few more weeks it would be back to normal.

Gone For Good Club- August 2006
beachgirl replied to CanadaSunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay guys, less than one pound so I'll say it for next week. Just got my fill yesterday so maybe it'll get better. -
Okay, I'll play then too. I just wasn't going to if you needed someone to send your list too but if you already have someone I will make up a list myself.

I wanted and had asked for a low profile port but they don't use them all that much in Mexico and since I never really had a huge stomach I was afraid the reg. would show after a while. I forgot to ask after surgery if I had one or not. Dr. Curry as soon as he found the port on fluro said well, your lucky, they used the low profile port on you. So I guess I have it.

I tried posting this earlier, who knows what happened. I am in a hotel now, in Louisivlle, waiting to go for my first fill tomorrow. Please tell me it'll be okay. I'm really getting scared. It's 6 days earlier that what they suggested but I called my surgeon, Dr. Sanchez and I told him my restriction was very limited and I was afraid I would gain back some of what I'd lost already and he okay'd me to go 6 days early for my first fill. Any suggestions on what I should do before my fill tomorrow afternoon as far as eating or drinking? I sure don't want to do that Pbing right off the bat and you guys know I obcess about that. LOL Any help would be greatly appreciated, Love you all, :clap2:

Welcome Tex, You'll love this place. Anything question you have I;m sure someone on here can answer it. I came here a couple of months ago before I went to Mexico for my surgery and I had my first fill yesterday. Not to jinz myself, no problems at all as of yet and lost about 24 pounds in a month. Good luck and if I can answer any questions for you just PM me anytime. Welcome

Hi July Gang, Got my fill done yesterday afternoon, first one. Dr. Trace Curry who answers questions on here did it. It went fine. Couldn't find my port at first so walked over to the fluro and hit it first time there. He only put in 1.5 instead of 2 since I live 10 hours round trip. I had found a doctor lots closer but I really like and trust Dr. Curry. He had to poke 3 times before we tried the fluro but he also found out on the fluro I had the low profile port and it was a little harder to feel by touch. He and his office are fabulous. He sprayed this freezing cold numbing spray before the needle which help deaded it first. It didn't hurt, kinda felt like a little bee sting. The weird thing was at the end, I don't know if it was the saline going into the port or him pulling it out, it didn't hurt it was just weird. So far I can't tell I have the fill so he said I could come back in 2 weeks for more if I needed it he just didn't want me so full I couldn't drink and have to drive back all that ways. Don't be afraid of fills, anyone getting ready for one. They're a breeze. I also posted actual pics of him doing it on the general discussion page, go take a look. It will ease your mind.

Wish me luck, going for 1st fill in a few hours
beachgirl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I posted pics, it wasn't bad at all. He sprayed this freezing cold numbing stuff instead of using a needle with lidacaine. He couldn't hit it the first couple of times so we walked over to fluro and I layed down and within a min. or so he hit it first time. My port is not where my port scar is. It's about 1 1/2 in. toward the center of my stomach. He also informed me I have the lowprofile port for which I was proud. Good luck magical me and loving it, your next. It will be a breeze. Let me know how much fill you get. I got 1.5 but he said I could get more in 2 weeks if I need it. Yeah, Magical, we've lost about the same and surgery about the same. Let's keep in touch. Good luck girls, -
Four Weeks Post-op - a couple of q's
beachgirl replied to div95008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's weird, I can eat anything crispy, crackers, toast, chips, but anything like the center of a piece of bread won't work. It seems like the crispy the easier for me. Everyone is different. But, I just got a fill less than 24 hours ago so we'll see. Liquids right now. -
I was told 4 to 6 weeks because of all of the arm movement and the band being attached to your stomach muscle. I would think laying out in the pool would be fine. We had ours installed like a few days before surgery and I wasn't aware of this so everyday since surgery I just go out and look at it and clean it, but now it's been 4 weeks so today I'm going to give it a whirl.

Hey Great Dame, Can you believe it, we live in the same state, and my 1st cousin is one of your senators, Lindy Casbier, and we had the same surgeon, the fabulous Dr. Rodolfo Sanchez whom I love dearly and the same fill doctor whom I also just love. That's no neat. We need to keep in touch girlfriend. I had my first fill yesterday with him. At first he couldn't find the port after poking just a couple of times then we walked immediately over to fluro, no waiting, got right on the table, he sprayed that freezing stuff and wham, hit it first try. What's that weird feeling at the end when he pulls it out. Felt life my innerads where coming out. lOL We're close to same weight to, I'm just lots older, 42 now. Keep in touch, it would be fun. Good luck. He only put in 1.5 since I live so far away and didn't want to overfill but said I could come back in 2 weeks for more if I needed it. HOw much do you have? Your friend, Sherri

Mine was 19 gauge as well. I seem to be sore where he first tried to find the port and had to poke several times but not sore where he hit it first time with fluro. Do you think that is normal. I love the spray on numbing stuff. No pokes with novacaine

I had Dr. Sanchez and could never say enough good things about him. He is wonderful and very smart. He's put in over 6600 of these and I had no problems whatsoever. You have a question, you pick up the phone and call him. I had my first fill, alothough they're free with Dr. Sanchez I didn't want to fly again so soon, I hate going through customs. I went to Dr. Trace Curry who answers alot of questions on here. He is fabulous. Him and his whole staff are so sweet and he does them himself and his nutri. has a band herself. He charged 300.00 yesterday and used fluro, no charge for unfills and 150.00 for each fill after. He only put in 1.5 since I live almost 5 hours each way away and didn't want to over do it but said if it wasn't enough I could come back in 2 weeks for another. Cudos, for Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Curry in my book.

That was very nice and sweet pnut. I am leaving the hotel going to get my first fill so I do hope everything goes well. I'm a little nervous but not bad. I know I need this to bump things up. I hope everyone has a fantastic day.

Oh NO, I go for my first fill tomorrow with Dr. Curry. I have all the faith in the world in him from just what he's helped us with here on the board, but I"M SCAREDDDDDDDD. I'm so scared of pbing I think I'll just drink the first couple of weeks. I have a real fear of hearing everyone pbing and I just don't want to do that. My fill is actually 6 days early of the 5 week post op but Dr. Sanchez said it would be fine. He said he'd rather i go a few days early than start gaining the 20 plus pounds I have lost so far. Oh, I sure hope i don't pass out. Should I look or not? I'm not scared of needles and the whole time they were doing my iv's for surgeries I just talk right through them but I sure don't want to pass out. I'm having my dh takes lots of pictures too. Sure hope I make it, Wish me luck,

Congratulations Patti, Tomorrow you will start your new life and soon your new body. You will do great. I've had more trouble getting a tooth pulled than with this surgery. I wish you a very good and uneventful surgery and recovery. Let us know when you feel up to it how it went.
