Help My husband is forcing me to eat.
beachgirl replied to sarabluebell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wasn't Dr. Sanchez just an angel. God, I sure did like that man and what a surgeon. He did wonders for me. I sure miss him. Hope things are going better for you. We were banded close to the same time and the same surgeon. He was the tops, that's for sure and so is Dr. Zapapta. I love him too. -
Yep, just a little prick. No pain. Congrats of your upcoming surgery. You'll do great. It's a very simple and very painless surgery, or at least mine was. I will be thinking about you.

Help My husband is forcing me to eat.
beachgirl replied to sarabluebell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, I didn't read all of that into the situation. I just think you have an overconcerned husband. I've been married 25 years to the same man and they can be that way at times. I'm sure in time he'll catch on to your banded and just don't want to eat. Hang in there. -
Help My husband is forcing me to eat.
beachgirl replied to sarabluebell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
God, My husband is that bad in the other direction. I've not been eating over 800 calories a day the past 2 weeks and am losing about 3 to 4 pounds a week and he will see me eating something and say, do you really need that. Didn't you have lapband so you wouldn't eat. Really hurts my feelings. I know I'm still overweight but I was in 26's and 280 pounds and 5'8" and now I'm at 210, dang give me a break. Hope yours lightens up though. Nothing worse than someone being on you constantly. -
I have that same pain when my gallbladder acts up but it is up a little higher. Mine had never acted up until I lost about 50 pounds and Dr. Curry said weightloss makes them actup. I hope you find out what it is. There's nothing worse than severe pain that you can't stop. Hugs.

Will I still be able to eat salads??
beachgirl replied to Sooverit!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the small, 9.75cm lowprofile, mini port that only holds 4cc's and I have 2.9cc's in there and it's perfect and I ate salad last night. I still chew chew chew no matter what I'm eating so as long as you do that you'll be fine and just don't drink with your meal. Good luck. -
I was in a explosion 5 yrs. ago with 3rd degree burns over 33 percent of my body, from thighs down on both legs. There is pics on here somewhere with pics of them, anyways, today, you can't tell unless you really look. I had fabulous doctors, graphs, plastic surgeons and they told me to use the vitamin E oil in a liquid form in a little bottle at walmart in the vitamin isle. I used it every day for 1 year and I mean everyday. People don't believe me when I show them my legs so that's what I used on my scars from lb surgery and they are so faded you can only notice my port scar. I firmly believe if it can do that to 3rd degree burns it can fade anything. Give it a try.

Banded Yesterday!!!! Questions already..
beachgirl replied to wanabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats, I'm soooo proud everything went great for you. I came home to my 9 month 10 month old granddaughter and lifted her after about day 3. Have someone if you can put them in your lap but I know if your by yourself that makes it impossible. Just be careful you don't want to pull anything loose. I didn't have any staples or stitches on the outside just glue but you do on the inside. I wan't hungry but everyone is different. It will pass. I'm so happy for you. This time next year you'll be skinny minny. Hugs, Sherri Jo -
I hope your feeling better. I know I was getting sick right before surgery and was having it in Mexico so I was panicking. They told me if I was running any fever at all it would be postponed so my pcp but me on a strong antibotic before surgery and they put us on antibiotic when you get to Mexico anyways for before surgery so luckily I got well quick. I'm sure they will tell you on your appt. day and I hope you are fine. If worse comes to worse and you have to postpone you can do the preop again. It is just the worse before the great comes. I mean I didn't have to do any preop diet but I know after surgery you are on liquids and I did it knowing that good things were coming and its been 12 months since surgery and 80 pounds gone and yes it is all worth it. Sending you hugs and hope all goes well.

Band Slippage with too much liquid???
beachgirl replied to suzielondon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, Dr. Curry says it's alot harder for a slipage than you think and I ask him that same question 2 weeks after surgery. I think you'll be fine. I would just do the liquids as long as your suppose to and then progress on. Congrats on your surgery. You will absolutely love you band. It's my best friend. -

Dr. Zapata In Monterrey Mexico
beachgirl replied to cebintn's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
He is fabulous. I had my surgery by Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Zapata last year. They picked me up at the airport with a sign that said "Smith" on it so I felt like a celebrity, took me to his guesthouse which was awesome. You have your own suite there with a huge bathroom, fridge in the room, tv. (we took dvd's with us) food for after surgery, then he will take you where ever you want to go so we met Funny and Tracy and all went out to eat at a steak house the night before surgery then the next morning they take you to the hospital, you go to the surgery holding room then off to surgery (about 35 min.'s in surgery) then to recovery about an hour then to your room. You have a private suite there as well with french doors that go out on a balcony overlooking Monterrey and the hospital is fabulous. Then we left the hospital next morning about 12 hours after surgery and back to guesthouse and stayed one more night there and then flew home. He is the sweetest, personable, professional, and most experienced surgeon doing the lapband. I had heard about others there and in TW and his numbers are more than Ortiz or anyone else. He's done over 7000. You will love him. -
Thank you Karik, Your weight loss is great. You must exercise alot too. You guys help so much with your support. I will keep everyone informed on how things go but I expect you guys to give me a swift kick in the ass when you see I'm not going regularly. Hugs, Sherri

Here is the truth about the band
beachgirl replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This wasn't my experience either. I ate chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans for supper tonight. Only about a cup but I'm very restricted and have only vomited once in 2 months and that was because I took a drink while I was eating. I think if you follow the bandster rules and don't drink while eating, chew at least 30 bites and keep your fills just right everything is fine. I go out to eat alot with people and have no problems. I'm not saying that you won't get stuck because chances are you will but after 80 pound loss in one year I'll take the eating the way I'm suppose to anyday. -
Oh, I am so sorry. That has to be very disheartning. Try to think on the bright side that maybe something was just now ready to be done and maybe in a week or two this will all be over. Good things come to those that wait and you will get there this is just one of those things in the middle of the road. My prayers are with you and I pray that your wait will be short. Keep your chin up.

Post-Op nastiness, ways to get through it?
beachgirl replied to Ses's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walked and walked and walked, one hour after surgery and was lucky I guess and never had any pain to speak of. I have heard the gasx strips help alot. I slept in the recliner the first couple of days and I think that helped too. This too shall pass. -
That's wonderful. I had Anthem BC/BS PPO and I had to pay 100 percent of mine. I went to Mexico and had it done.
-
I can't do sandwiches at all. Bread just doesn't work for me. I got my first fill after 3 weeks but I think most surgeons prefer you to wait longer. I had no problem with my first fill and am glad I got it. Good luck and it will get better.

++got the band, and still gaining weight ++++
beachgirl replied to Magic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You've probably done heard this but this is what my surgeon told me. Do not focus on weightloss whatsoever the first month, it's a healing period. Plus, you have no restriction over than swelling and that doesn't last long. I promise you, I don't know how many fills it will take for you to get restriction but once you do, there is NO way I can overeat. I just can't hold it and don't want it and then you will see the weight fall off. I promise you it will happen. Just be patient and take care of yourself and heal first. Good luck. -
I don't have the have to go problem but I never have been that way. I do have the hemmroids and OMG they can be hell. But, you know, since I've lost weight I have only had one episode with them so I do think the weight loss helps. Okay everyone, I did it. I went to the gym and loved it. I am so old schooled and was scared to go by myself so my daughter who is a member as well went with me on her lunch break, which is 1 1/2 hours today. She is 8 months pregnant and kept up with me now that really makes me feel fat and old but I did enjoy it. I know that sounds crazy but for once in my life like you said Leona I was taking care of me. Not the kids, not the grandkids, not my Mom with cancer (which I don't mind that at all), not my grandmother, just me. I know it is not much for you worker outers but I did do one mile in 20 min.s on the treadmill then 20 min.s on the cycle and then 45 min.s doing weights. I worked up a sweat in a hurry. I had no clue nowdays they had a big tv in the ceiling in front of every treadmill and cycle and there was probably 50 or more of them and them you could plug your ipod or your headphones in and hear it. So neat. I am going back tomorrow and just going to try to do a few more reps each day. My trainer wants to concentrate more on reps than more weight. Thanks for all your help and Leona your a doll. You and I weigh about the same and I can't wait to hit the onederlands either. I really admire you and you look so awesome. Well I use to hear people talk about the gym and how good it made them feel and I thought, your so full of shit but they weren't it does make you feel better about yourself, now if I can just stay with it. I guess since the price is locked in for 1 year that may be incentive right there, lol. Hugs and hope everyone is having a great week.

Hi guys, Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Trying to get this house sold and our new one done and it's exhausting. My little grandson is due in 6 weeks, can't wait for that. Current fill is 2.90 in the 4cc's 9.75cm lowprofile mini port, I forgot who was asking but I've been banded one year and lost 80 pounds and have 40 more to go. Leona, I just got a year membership at a new gym that just opened up and it came with one month free tanning and one month with a personal trainer and I'm petrified. I've not been to a gym in 20 years, I'm 43 and still overweight and I'm scared they will ask me to do things I can't do and I still have the ruptured discs in my lower back that give me problems, my question is, what in the hell do I do when I get there.lol. I'm going today for the first time, and I'm scared to death. Any advice. After a 3month plateau, I finally started losing again and have been losing really well and I figured the gym would help because the only exercise I'm doing since being banded is the treadmill. I dont' want to walk in and everyone be in those little suits with legins, I know so 80's, and everyone a size 0, and I'm in 16's and walk in and get laughed at and can't do anything they tell me to do. Hope everyone is a big loser, lol. Leona, you look awesome by the way. I hope the next 40 pounds comes off this year. I went to see Dr. Curry for a very slight fill last week and he said I was right on schedule losing the 80 pounds this year so maybe I'll get there. Love you guys, Hugs,
