Anyone want to talk about the Lap-Band?
beachgirl replied to aaamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Paul, What type of band and how much fill do you have. I feel pretty restricted but I can eat a few eggs in the morning. Just wondered if I had as much fill as I thought I had. Your so cute too. hehehhehehehehe -
My very good friend, banded the say day as myself by Dr. Sanchez has found a wonderful doctor for her fills, he does the fluro, and the barrium swallow and she said he is great. She lives in Salt Lake City. If you would like her email or phone number just pm me and I'll give it to you.

Hi JQ, I want to enter but if I was to win, (doubtful with all the new bandsters) I would want you to donate mine to the next one as I won your contest last time but I do want to play for the motivation. Thank you for being so kind and running another contest. Your a doll. I'm at 234.6

Inamed ... How many fills?
beachgirl replied to antivicky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My first fill was at 5 weeks postop and it was 1.5 but I couldn't tell it. Dr. Curry said come back in two weeks and I'll bump it up. He does them under fluro and hits it first time. The second was .75 to put it up to 2.25, that was really a big hit for me as it is definitely doing it's job. Had been losing a pound a day but slowed down to 1/2 pound this morning. I upped my protein. He said in 3 more weeks I would need a little more so I'm going for it. So far lots of restriction, mostly in mornings but I do better in the afternoon. No signs of pging or sliming at all yet. Hope it never happens. We'll see if I get fill #3 in 3 weeks. That would put me at about 2.75 and that's pretty full. -
P'nut, I can't find any wine, but I found my 19 yr. olds stach of vodka in the freezer, will that work??????????????????????? Yep, it's working, I'm so pretty, yes so pretty, dummm deee deeee, sang with me everyone

Hey, One of my best friends that I just met since banding lives in Salt Lake City, and she was banded the same day as me in Monterrey, Mexico, we had insurance but didn't want to jump through they're hoops and we were self pay. She's losing great and has had one fill, and I've had two. We were both banded on July 10, 06. I have lost almost 35 pounds and she's lost a bunch too. It will be wonderful, your new life starting over. I'm so proud for you. If you want I'll give you her email address and she can tell you who her fill doctor is, I know she really likes him. Her and I talk about once a week. So I should be hearing from her tomorrow. Her name is Tracy. You'll love her, she is so honest, and not self absorbed, and down to earth and very truthful. She's a doll.

Anyone want to talk about the Lap-Band?
beachgirl replied to aaamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG, I love my band and my band loves me. My sister-inlaw bad the gastric bypass the same week as I had my band. She's lost 36 pounds in 6 weeks and I've lost 33 pounds in 6 weeks, not counting preop, just since surgery. I can do everything I could do before and more and she can't. I was 4 wheeler riding for 6 hours on my 10th day postop and she couldn't even think about it. This makes me feel very good about my decision. I've had two fills, 1.5 and .75, total 2.25 and the restriction feels great. I'm scheduled for another fill in 3 more weeks but it will have to be a little one and if I keep loosing at this rate he probably would prefer I wait. We'll see. Hope everyone is going to have a wonderful holiday weekend. We were headed to Tampa and then on down to the keys after that but we're postponing for 2 weeks to let the surf settle down. I am actually going to wear a bathing suit. We were cleaning out our garage tonight, we're building a new home and to sell this one I need a dump truck to get rid of all of this crap. Anyway, I found all of my old clothes. They seriously ranged in size from 7/8 10/12, no 16's, 18's, 20's and 22's. OMG, you can tell I'm a dieter. LOL Well, I went from 24's, 22's, and 20's fit but are loose so I can't wait to go to a reg. store to buy size 18's. It will truly be a NSV for me. Hope everyone has a safe and losing weekend. Love you all, Sherri -
I know seasoned bandster, since I've only been banded for a little over 6 weeks but at this point and time I redo it in a heartbeat. I had a wonderful surgeon, wonderful aftercare and have lost 33 pounds in 6 weeks. I just wished I had of done it 2 years ago when I first thought about it. I wasn't quite heavy enough so insurance wasn't a choice but even with self pay in Monterrey, Mexico it's a decision that has truly changed my life. I wasn't down for anytime, was doing everything I use to do at 10 days, doing most everything at 4 days. I hope you have wonderful luck and you will, just use your band as a tool, not somethng to do it for you.

Harley, I didn't have much restriction at 1.5 but 7 weeks post op Dr. Curry bumped me up to 2.25 and so far it seems perfect. I can't eat more than a 1/2 cup, can't gulp my drink and so far have lost 4 pounds this week. My pills take a little while to go down but other than that perfect. I started at a little higher bmi than you but I've heard the same thing. I think the perfect fill is the key as I don't care if I eat or not and then I don't crave anything so far. I just hope it stays like this for a while, don't you? Good luck and let me know how your doing.

If you?re considering Dr. Sanchez
beachgirl replied to GonnaDoIt's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Everyone on here knows how much I think of Dr. Sanchez, alma, and his entire staff. I could not be more thrilled about my decision. The experience was most positive. Things could go wrong at any time but the past 6 weeks have been unreal. I never expected to loose so fast and I realize it might stop tomorrow but the 32 already lost at least will be gone. I was afraid of aftercare but I have the most wonderful aftercare as well. I could go to Monterrey at anytime but I go to Dr. Curry who answers a lot of questions on here and he is fabulous. I remember reading a post a while back where someone ask, is he really real? Why would a surgeon be answering all of our questions. It must be someone acting like a Doctor. Well, folks, he's real. I even posted a pics of me getting my fill, and Tuesday I went for my fill and the first thing he said was "I seen my pic's of me giving you your first fill on the website" I was so proud to be able to tell you that he is definetly real and he is the one doing the answers, otherwise he would have never known his pics were on here. Don't be afraid of aftercare. It's out there. I called 3 surgeons and all 3 took Mexican patients. I wish you the very very best of luck with recovery and happy losing. Give Dr. Sanchez a kiss for me and Alma too. My husband would love for you to give Alma a tight hug as he went gaga over her. She is beautiful. -
Where can I get the card for after surgery?
beachgirl replied to JillN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine came from my surgeon but it came from inamed and I've heard they come with your band so I would ask him again. If not, I've got the email address for inamed, and you email the guy and he sends you one. Let me know if you want it. -
I live in Kentucky but Dr. Curry in Cincinatti does my fills and he is fabulous. I just love him. I've had too and I'm 6 weeks post op. 1.5 first fill and .75 second putting me at 2.25. I think he hit the sweet spot this time, at least for the time being. I had lost 28 pounds and have lost 4 pounds in the last 4 days since my fill. Good luck with your surgery and you can get all the info you will ever need from this web site and Dr. Curry has the mini emmi things that explain everything. They are great to watch.

got a fill and I'm eating more than ever!
beachgirl replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe your working all of yours off since you exercise a lot. I can eat 1/2 cup no problem and your also not eating breakfast. Maybe that would jumpstart your day but you may be like me, I can't eat breakfast. I am tight for one thing and NO appetite. Today I had decaf unsweet tea for breakfast, water for lunch, 4 bites of steak and 4 bites of potatoe for supper and thats it. I know I'm not getting my protein in but I just got my 2nd fill on Tuesday and I think it will take a while before it loosens up some. -
Just wondering why so many go to Mexico for banding?
beachgirl replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started a thread similar to this thread and was just wondering out of curosity and didn't mean for it to get ugly. I don't care where anyone gets surgery I just hope everyone does well. We are here to help each other and I think the world of everyone on here especially all of the people who helped me along. I hope I can be of help to someone someday. I think everyone's body acts differently under different situations and those of us who haven't had any trouble are just lucky and hopefully it will stay that way. You never know from day to day what can go wrong. I hope everyone loses, loses, loses and I hope everyone here can respect everyone elses decisions. I know I do. I love Dr. Sanchez but I've also lost 32 pounds in 6 weeks and I'm sure I would love any doctor that put in my band and helped me when nothing else would work. So, U.S. or Mexico, go bandsters, go. -
Open, everyone knows and I love helping people in my situation that don't know how to go about it as I didn't either until I came here and everyone helped me. I love even though I have nothing to do with it giving people hope. Although I have a long way to go I know it's achieveable.

Just wondering why so many go to Mexico for banding?
beachgirl replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Vera, Isn't Dr. Sanchez a complete and utter doll. The first time I met him in preop he came in the room hugged me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. He said, I won't let anything happen to you and I'm going to help you change your life. He is adorable. His wife is banded and I think that is wonderful. I didn't realize you had him too. I was banded with Amy and we just love him too. I love how I called him 2 weeks ago and we talked and talked, just like a best friend. Glad you like him too. -
Just wondering why so many go to Mexico for banding?
beachgirl replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had insurance, still do, Anthem BC/BS and all of this can't find fill doctors and had to find aftercare in the states is BS. I called 3 and all 3 did fills on Mexican patients. I could have very easily just went to Nashville, had a doctor who'd done a few do it but I went where I felt he had lots and lots more experience than here locally. I even went to they're seminars. I would not have took 10,000.00 of our cash money out of savings and used it to pay a Mexican doctor if I didn't feel 100% safe and very good about my decisions. I think this bashing states or other countries doctors is ridiculous. Have your surgery where you want it done and be done with it. We are all big people (pardon the pon) and can make our own decisions and then we should deal with them. Just my humble opinion. -
That does sound low, especially since you have the 10cm band. Who knows though, I'm no doctor. LOL I ha 1.5 first fill at 5 weeks postop and then 2 weeks later, Tuesday, I had .75 more which puts me at 2.25 and I have the 9.75 inamed band. The first fill I couldn't tell but I have great restriction so far, but from reading posts it doesn't last all that long until you need to tweak it a little bit more. How soon can you get another? Mine says 2 weeks but a friend of mine got hers Tuesday as well and it was her first and she can't get anymore for 6 weeks. My first fill also took 7 days for me to fill what little I could fill. Maybe in a few days you'll feel more. Good luck.

I worry about the same thing. I've just had neck surgery and have 2 more ruptured discs in my neck and back and I HAVE to take hydrocodone (generic loritab). I worry to death about it. I would be in a mental institute if I had to endure this pain by myself. Dr. Curry says it will be okay and I've cut my dosage in half but I have no problem taking the pills and I've had my 2nd fill and I've got a perfect fill. I didn't want to get so tight that I couldn't take a pill. I pray this will last for a while.

What type of conditons prevent a person from being banded?
beachgirl replied to Melodee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Funny had her surgery with me in Mexico and she has that blood clotting disease I forget what she called it and they done hers. They give you a shot of something right before surgery to keep your blood from clotting and if you tell them before hand they will take extra precautions to make sure you have no problems. -
I had 5 injections in my right heel and each one lasted a shorter amount of time. Finally they went from lasting 8 months to lasting 1 month. I did the strecting, bands, exercises, eveything, I finally had surgery 2 years ago on it and never, ever, anymore problems. One week after banding, I was walking out to the garage, with no shoes, stepped on a pebble and now have one on my left heal. Go figure. JMO, We had surgery about the same time and don't be afraid of your fill. I had my 2nd one Tuesday with Dr. Curry and under fluro he hit it first time and within 4 seconds was done. It didn't hurt at all. It sprays that freezing numbing spray as he's inserting the needle and no pain at all. I got 1.5 the first fill and .75 2nd, so now I'm at 2.25 and boy is it working. 2 days and 2 pounds down and I can only hold 1/2 cup, tops. That's where I wanted it at, no pbing yet, thank the good Lord, but can't eat much either. Perfect. Yours will go great and it is not worth worrying over. Tell your hubby I'm so proud for him. You 2 will loose so fast doing it together. Good going everybody.

I sure will. I told her we all miss her and I think as soon as things slow down for her we'll be hearing from her. She said her daughter had been sick and she was working about 80 hours a week again for Microsoft so she's a busy girl. LOL She said her weight loss was going great and she was getting her fill yesterday. So I'll post again after I talk to her again. I am sure she misses everyone as much as we miss her.

Hey Diane, I called her at home 2 days ago and yes she's up and running but she said she was too busy and if she came back on this site right now it would take up too much of her time and she needed to concentrated on work. I told her everyone was worried about her. I was in Ohio getting my fill and called her on my cell phone and she was going for her first fil yesterday. I still am worried about her she didn't seem herself. I know she works so hard and so many hours, I hope she's not overdoing it. I really miss her. I told her I would call her back this weekend and see how her fill went and I'll let everyone know. Maybe when she gets some slack she'll come back on.
