OMG Stephanie, Wow you can really see the weight loss in your pics, you look so gooooood. I can't believe the difference, and you can really see it in your face. I haven't took any pics yet, maybe I need too, maybe if I looked as good as you I would really feel like I've done something. I have lost 40 but I can't tell it one bit. Oh well, maybe in another 40. You sure look good.

My not so happy Lap Banding

Wow, I'm so sorry you've had to go through so much and I hope the worst is over for you and you can get back to working with your band and school. My Lord, who in the world was your doctor?
  3. My doctor says the same thing, 3 meals a day and one snack if needed.

Am I supposed to just wear a figleaf?

I don't know if you have them where your at but I love shopping at Cato's and Dress Barn. Plus, once you have lost all of that weight and need just regular size clothes they have them as well. I also like Lane Bryant.
  8. Don't be beating yourself up, your suppose to be healing right now and don't worry, you don't have a fill right now and your not going to feel restricted yet. Just wait it out and once you get a fill I promise you you'll be amazed at the difference. Your being wayyyyyy to hard on yourself.

    Newbie from Cincinnati

Welcome, I don't know if you know it or not but you have a fabulous fill doctor right there in Cinci, Dr. Trace Curry. He is mine and I had my surgery in Mexico. He is wonderful. He had done thousands of fills. I go back for a fill this week. Here is his website in case you need a fill doctor and how lucky right there, I drive almost 5 hours each way to see him. www.thebanddoctor.com

2nd fill - what to expect?

I've had 2 fills and both took about a week to kick in. I have 2.25 cc's in a 4cc's band, the inamed 9.75 cm band. I am scheduled for another fill this week. I keep noticing everyone else has less fill than me. Should I not get another one. I still don't think I have enough restriction but I don't want to get too tight. I can eat anything at all right now. Bread is no problem. I've only lost 36 pounds and I had surgery 2 months ago. Just would like someone else's opinion. Thanks in advance guys.
  12. I would go back to Mexico in a heartbeat for mine. I had Dr. Sanchez and he's done nearly 7000 lapband surgeries. I had mine done in July and it was a wonderful experience. Mine was 8500.00 and that included everything and free fills for life. PM me if you have any questions. Dr. Ortiz is also good. Just ask lots of questions and feel good about your decision. With Dr. Sanchez you can call and get in within 2 weeks usually without any problems.

I have Anthem BC/BS PPO and they didn't cover. I was selfpay and had mine done in Monterrey.

    Fluouroscopy..whats the difference?

Mine is the inamed, 9.75, and if you don't have quite as much to loose or if your stomach is not quite as large is what my doctor told me then it's better to use the low profile. It's not as deep and if will not show up after a lot of weight loss. Some people who loose a lot of weight, they're port can be seen as a slight lump or something.

    Toddler Silverware

You know, I haven't thought about it but I bet they are hard to fine. My daughter is 22 and my son 19 and would you believe I had saved they'res and that's what I'm using now. They are the silver, plain, nothing on them. Guess I better be proud I saved them.

Good by to my Scruffy little dog

Don't think it's silly at all. It's like losing a family member. You will be in my prayers and so will your puppy. I have a mini daschund and they are lots more loyal than people so I know how your feeling. My last one had cancer. Just remember he's not suffering anymore and I'm sure he misses you as well.
  17. Been banded for 2 months, currently have 2.25 but going this week for another fill. Need just a little bit more, possibly 2.75 to 3.00.

Surgery Called Off B/C of a Cold?

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that all will go well and this time next week you'll be banded and branded, LOL. That's what my husband calls me.
  19. Okay, I had this done on 7/10/06 so not that long ago. I didn't use any pain medicine. I didn't have any shoulder pain, but my port area was sore. I was up walking as soon as I got to my room and walked every hour. I had no nausea and they wrote me scripts for loritab and that phergran or however you spell it but hadn't had to use it. As I've said before, by day 4 I was doing everything I had ever done and day 10 we went riding 4 wheelers all day long with friends and when we ride we ride horrible trails that are steep and hilly and usually dangerous. My doctor gave me 2 valiums to take one day before surgery and one morning of surgery because I was nervous but If I had known then how easy and simple it was I would not have wasted my time being scared, so don't worry, everything will be fine. I lost about 30 pounds the first month or 6 weeks or so, and now I've lost real close to 40 pounds and it's been 2 months. My incisions healed up wonderfully and I just so far haven't had any problems. Good luck and we'll be praying for you and thinking about you as you have this done. Keep us informed on how your doing.
  20. My doctor after the first fill said I could have the 2nd fill in 2 weeks because I live 4 to 5 hours each way and I always stay over in a hotel in case I'm too tight he can take some out the next day before I make the long drive. After my 2nd fill he told me I would be ready for another in a month which is next week. Dr. Curry does my fills though, no one else in his office has ever done mine and I like him doing mine.

    What constitutes '3 days'?

Wow, my Doctor, Dr. Curry only requires one day of liquids, then one day of mushies, then on to solids. They are all different and require different things.

Restriction after surgery / before fill

Enjoy it while you can because for most it doesn't last. I too, for the first month couldn't eat hardly anything and lost 30 pounds. Then, all of a sudden it hit, I was getting hungry and I could hold more. I got my first fill at 4 weeks, 2nd fill at 6 weeks and I'm suppose to go next week for 3rd fill which I will be at almost 3 months.

You are too tight when ______????????

    Can't swallow your own spit
  24. I agree, the foreign object thing just doesn't apply. Think about it for a min. Okay, I've got metal and screws and plates in my neck from disc removal, I have fillings, and caps and implants in my teeth, most everyone has some sort of metal from broken bones and stuff. I have 2 neighbors who are sisters who had the GB and BOTH are suffering now from anoxeria and can't control they're bowels and malabsorption and numerous, numerous, problems. I just wasn't ready for that. I knew that the band was reversible and I knew nothing was rerouted and it just made better sense. At day 4 I was sweeping, mopping, doing laundry, and on day 10 went 4 wheeler riding all day long. We also did a catering job Thursday and one of the women there brought up my lap band surgery and she had the GB done 4 years ago and said her complications were horrible. She said she lived on ice chips for 6 solid weeks and like to have died. She is only 5'4 and weighs 199 pounds right now. She said she never made goal and now had stretched her pouch and was slowly gaining. I guess you have to do what's right for you and I feel very comfortable with my decision. Good luck and you'll know in your heart what is best for you.

Mbprn, I laughed my butt off on that one, I didn't paint his toe nails but I will tell you what I did. He knows not to mess with me on that time of the month but he did it anyway. He snores very, very, bad. I spend 6 nights out of 7 on the sectional. So, I bought him this expensive stuff you spray into your mouth and you quit snorring. Well, he didn't like the way it tastes. Well, what did I do? Last night he was out like a light and when he snores he throws his mouth open and lets them fly, so every time he snored, I leaned over, with precise timing and aiming, and sprayed, sprayed, sprayed. He never knew a thing and still doesn't and he didn't snore another time. OMG, I getting mean. Still weigh the same, still have gained and I wished I was a man. Yep, you all heard it right, a man.
