Why dooes thw weight loss vary so much in different people?
beachgirl replied to MariaR.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do what I'm suppose to do 95% of the time. I do slip up occasionally. I haven't lost as fast as some but I think steady is the key. I've been banded a little over 2 months and have lost 40 pounds. I just love the feeling of not being hungry now. Now I still have the head hunger occasionally but it gets better with each day. I also think having your fill level correct is a major key in this game. -
Karik, So proud to hear you are doing better. It's been a rough road hasn't it. Whoops, I hit the wrong button. Glad your doing better. Hello July'ers, hope everyone is losing bunches of weight. Talk to you all later.

You can ask your surgeon in Mexico and they will give you a list of fill doctors that will fill Mexican Patients or at least Dr. Sanchez, in Monterrey did for me. You can also go to inamed's web site and they'll send you a list and you can go to fillcenters website. Hope this helps.

Here's a thread I started months ago about Mexico versus States and theres a lot of info about it here. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19148&highlight=Mexico

possibly moving to Tennessee...?? re: fills
beachgirl replied to Miper70's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you don't find one there's a good one in Nashville, Tn. A very nice lady on this forum told me about him. Dr. Hugh Huston. Good luck, and Happy moving. -
Very well put, and I applaud you of your weight loss. I can't wait to be able to say I've lost that kind of weight. Isn't it wonderful without any fill that you have still got a tool, something there for those days when you just want to eat anything and everything. Glad your feeling better and I know as determined as you seem to be the scales will continue on. Kudos.

IAGVS I am getting very sleepy

leave for the hospital in about 7 hrs and will be banded in about 10 hrs.
beachgirl replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
By the time you read this shell you'll probably be a bandster so I hope for you a non eventful surgery and a very fast recovery. I will keep you in my prayers and let me know how you are doing. HUGS -
You do everything on the phone. My preop work consisted of blood work 30 min. before surgery and that was it. With Dr. Sanchez you can call this week and be having surgery next week. Very, very easy to do. I had to fax them some paperwork before I went down but that was it. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. You'll do great.

Hey Laura, Yes they were the small ones but I knew better. It's the first time I've done that and it's not even T.O.M. How does your 3.2 fill feel? I have 2.25 and am going Tuesday for another fill and I'm sure he'll probably go to 3.0. I was just curious do you have good restriction now. I knew when I bought those stupid candy bars I would do this, but your right, tomorrow is another day and I'll just have to do better tomorrow. Hope you having a great week.

Hey Erin, Go to www.tickerfactory.com and click on weight loss and pick out which one you want and then you will copy it and then go to user cp and go to edit signature and paste it there. PM me if you have any problems. Congrats Brandy, I had surgery on the 10th of July and I've only lost 40 pounds and ate like a freaking horse today. I'm scheduled for my 3rd fill on Tuesday. I hope I have great restriction after that. What size band do you have and how much fill? Just curious. Good luck and keep up the great work.

How long are you on liquids after a fill?
beachgirl replied to Malice X Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Same here, liquids for one day, then mushies, and then solids and I've had no problems whatsoever with that. -
I agree. I have 2.25 right now and not near enough restriction. Today is the first day since surgery that I've eat too much and I eat 4 little halloween candy bars. Yes you seen it right 4. I could kick my big fat ass, and somebody ought too. Pay 10,000.00 for surgery and have paid for 2 fills so far, I'm freaking retarded. I hate myself right now and I ought too. I have an appointment for Tuesday next week. What is some of you guys ideal of how much I should get put in. He usually asks me how much I want.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
beachgirl replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine sprays this freezing numbing spray as he is injecting me while watching the fluro screen. Doesn't hurt but doesn't tickle either. lol -
Congrats on your new band Sarah, I'm so proud for you. Some people used the gasx strips but I didn't have much of a problem with it. Walking is the best thing in the world for that. You might try the gas x, it may be just what you need. I have the smaller band myself and the lowprofile one, you will love it. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal.

Well it's great she's got a supportive husband and we welcome you here banded or not, it doesn't matter to us. I wish her all the luck in the world. I had a wonderful experience in Mexico and I'm sure she will too. I agree, I checked with 5 major hospitals close to me and none of them had even came close to how many Dr. Sanchez had done so it was a nobrainer for me.

Congrats, You, your baby, and your husband are all beautiful. She is absolutely precious. I think you done wonderfully well. Enjoy your new family and keep us with new pictures.

How much have you actually lost? What size band do you have and how much fill? Do you feel you are restricted enough? I know that Men do loose lots faster than women on any weightloss program. My husband has lost more weight than me since my banding and he isn't even banded. But, I know his metabolism is much higher and I'm in perimenopause and it's just a part of life. Post this other information and maybe some seaoned bandsters will weigh in. I've only had the band for 2 months and have lost 40 pounds and am dissapointed myself but I need my 3rd fill. I'm not restricted enough at this point. Hope you get some info that might help you. Good luck.

You can have a 30 B.M.I. and they'll do your surgery in Mexico. They're not like the states and ask you to gain weight so your a certain B.M.I. before they'll do the sugery. They try to prevent you from getting larger and having health problems. When I called Anthem BC/BS here in Kentucky she said yes, we'll pay but you'll have to gain 40 pounds and do this, this, this, and this. I was like forget it, I'll pay for it myself. With a 100 pounds to loose why would I want to gain another 40. Go figure.

does anyone feel the same way?
beachgirl replied to Ready to Lose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have tried, Richard Simmons, NutriSystem, W.W., Jenny Craig, Phentermine, if it's a diet I've done it and I too worried what made me think that this lapband would work, but trust me it does. If I can loose a pound on this anyone can. I mean I have tried to loose 5 pounds in the past and couldn't loose 5 pounds. I have had the band for 2 months and although my weight loss has slowed down I've still lost 40 pounds, so yes, you can do this. Just take it easy after surgery and let yourself heal and don't worry about weight loss because you won't have a fill yet and you won't see a whole lot until your fill. Good luck with your surgery, you'll do great. -
Well I know exactly what you mean and I'm 2 months out. I had forgotten until yesterday when I read a post about it that I haven't taken any Vitamins. In my whole life I've never took them but I guess I better get my butt in gear and get some. I am completely exhausted and I don't know what to do about it. I've always been Iron deficient and use to have to take a b-12 shot every week and very low blood sugar. I guess I need something. Hope you get some energy soon and if you get some extra send it my way please before I fall asleep at the laptop, (not as bad as falling asleep at the wheel, luckily).

Chris wants to preach heavenly INAFN I need another fill now!!!!

Wow Mary, You can tell a huge difference, way to go. Yep, those pants won't make it through another comparison, they'll be falling off. Karik and Leona so sorry your not feeling well. It's been a rough row to how hasn't it. Whoops there I go again, everyone will know I from Kentucky for sure. LOL I schedule another fill for Tuesday. I had cancelled when I had my first pbing episode but I believe I was just eating to fast and it was bread on top of that. I have only lost like 4 pounds in 6 weeks. Time to top off that fill. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and is losing, losing, losing. See ya later girls and Chris. Sherri Jo

Other than me being a little older than you our height and weight are very close to the same. Congrats on getting your band, you will be sooooo proud that you did. It was the best decision I've ever made and I'm just 2 months out. My weight loss has really slowed down but I am scheduled for another fill on Tuesday. I had lost 40 pounds in the last 2 months but can really tell I need another fill. I wasn't down but for a couple of days and then I was doing everything I ever did. I never had any of the shoulder pain and I contribute that to constantly walking after surgery. Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers. I too went to Mexico and that was another wonderful decision. They really know they're stuff there. You'll have a lot of people dog you because you went there, don't pay any attention to them, I don't. I know that my surgeon, Dr. Sanchez has done more than any surgeon in the states and they will never know as much about the lapband surgeries as he does and the others there in Mexico because it's been done longer there.
