I have an 05 Grand Prix and it's fairly large, has the 3.8 litre engine, big v6 and I checked it 2 weeks ago when I went to get a fill and I was on the interstate and a lot of city driving with air and I got 31.1, I was very, very pleased. I bought it new but had never checked the mileage and my parents were wanting a new grand prix so that's why I checked it.

Catheter for guys??
beachgirl replied to WantTheBand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know there are a couple who needed one, but for the most no, and I didn't need one either and I know personally of 8 people and none of us had one. Probably not unless you have trouble peeing after surgery. I had no trouble at all. Good luck. -
When you get the lapband, it is just usually the band. To inflate it to make it tighter you get saline put in your port that goes through your tubing and fills up your band therefore making it tighter. Hope this helps.

Personal Question About The Surgery?
beachgirl replied to Chris1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, none for me either. Surgery was just 45 min. so need for one I don't guess. -
I agree with Kat, I had the same thing, and it was worse if I drank too fast. Just keep a check on it and I bet in a few days it will be gone. Welcome to the banded.

I agree, I was very tight this time and I'm a long way from my doctor so instead of going for an unfill I have gave it a week eating lightly and I'm doing much better. So far glad I gave it some time. Good luck and hope your feeling better soon.

Hi everyone, Hope everyone is doing great. Been a BAD couple of days and I just sat around and cried all day long like a baby so I didn't even log on. Things just aren't much better. I seriously have wanted to curl up in a ball and just die. I'm not crazy or anything, just feel ready to go on and leave this world. Silly I know. I am still thinking of everyone and this place is my place of peace and hope, sounds cheezy but it's the truth. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and hope the weightloss is going great. Love you all, Sherri

If you want a wonderful, caring, experienced, team choose Dr. Sanchez. He charges 8500.00 for everything and free fills for life and has done almost 7000 and uses the lowprofile if you want it and can get you in within 2 weeks notice. I had the most fabulous experience with him and he'll send you with all of your records. I have a wonderful fill doctor here. I could find one as close as 1 hour but chose to drive 5 hours each way to use Dr. Curry as he is wonderful as well. Pm me if you have any questions. Sherri

When you guys are right, your right. The fill I got 2 weeks ago has been very tight. Can't really eat any food but was giving it time to unswell and TOM is now visiting so I took 2 bites of a tator tot and bam it happened again. Couldn't get it down or up and the pain was horrid, finally up it came. That's 3 times since my fill, I bet I'm going to have to make the 10 hour drive to get maybe .2 taken out. That would suck. I only had .4 put in. Well your prayers are working, dh treated me like a human being today and even went and picked up my new pup we had bought 3 weeks ago for me. She's about 5 in. and weighs way less than pound. Red, smooth, mini Daschund. She's a beaut, Abigaile, but her pals just call her Abby. LOL Hope everyone has a great night and a even better day tomorrow.

That's an excellent question. I wished I knew. Each fill I shell out 150.00 and that's after the surgery fee in Mexico. I just got cut off on the phone with bCBS Anthem. I just curiously ask them since they woudn't pay for my surgery and I pay them 700.00 per month, would they reimburse me any. Hell, she laughed so hard I thought she was doing drugs. Bitch. I could have done without that.

It'll all be fine, and bless your heart for being so supportive. I think you'll be fine for vacation. I felt great after 2 weeks and could eat anything after 3 weeks and she won't have restriction yet so you should be fine. As far as your cooking, it will still be great, she can sample everything bite or two of this and that she will just let you have more and we always share plates at rest now or get a to go box. Tell her I wish her and you luck as well and will say a prayer for her. Will be keeping you guys in my thoughts.

Hello Larry, First of all calm down, you didn't get fat overnight and with some planning you can get the weight off. Are you considering the band, if so a very wise decision. I have had the band for 3 months on the 10th and have lost 50 pounds. Heavier people loose even faster. Just read, read, read, on here and ask questions. We're all here to help you. Welcome once again.

Mine is coming out in handfulls. Everytime I wash my hair I have to scoop all of it up and put it on papertowels. It would definitely ruin our system. I got 6 inches cut off thinking that would help last week, it didn't. So now I have short hair that's falling out.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud for you. Boy, what I wouldn't give to weigh that, but someday, it will happen. You deserve to go out and buy yourself something very, very nice. Pat yourself on the back. Be proud of yourself, that's quite an accomplishment.

Nope it's real, I have the same one. It also says it on the packaging the port comes in. It's the size of a dime and very small. I love it, but it can be a little harder to find so always use fluro.

lost but not hopeless
beachgirl replied to hiwaykilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Very cute name. Welcome again. If you have any questions, ask on. I've been banded since July 10, of this year. I don't have the fastest weight loss on here but it has been fairly steady until this week until I decided I would eat a damn recess peanut butter cup then went down hill from there. I down about 50 pounds in 3 months but after this week who knows, I have really screwed up this week. -

Hello, I have to ask, where did you come up with that name. Really caught my attention. Yes, you did come to the right place I bet there isn't anything you can ask that someone on here doesn't have the answer too. Keep us informed and read read read and welcome. -
Hi everyone, I've been sick with something the past 3 days so I haven't even turned my lap top on. I have been able to eat anything while sick, and yes a damned recess. I wished they ban those things. I've been very tight and the min. I got sick, bam, she's been wide open. My yearly family reunion that we have once a year is today and I'm never missed a year in 13 years, I didn't go, because I was so pissed at myself. I won't even weigh. I bet I've gained 10 pounds and TOM is 2 days away. I'm just ready to die and say forget it. Why can some people really loose great and let something stupid like damn recess, do this to them and oh, a piece of pumkin pie, let's don't forget that, I made 3 of those for the reunion now I'm going to throw them out the back door. Sorry to be so nasty but I worked so hard on these 50 pounds and now I'm such a loser, no pun at all intended. What a loser. Hope everyone is having a better weekend than me. Hi beth, Leona, decked out, Jessicaand My God Desiree you look fabulous at least you've got your act together. Don't be mad at me for being so blahhhh today, I just can't stand this. I don't know what to do. If I knew how to strangle myself I would but I'm not that flexible. Love you all, The BIG failure,

I like you didn't think I would ever make it with liquids. You'll do fine. Number one you won't have hardly any appetite right after surgery so the liquids are just find. Your not really suppose to chew gum if there's a chance you would swallow. I had never swallowed a piece in my life so I chewed away. I wasn't on meds but I've read o here and know one woman who was on the pump for hers and after 7 months wasn't taking anything. The surgery is a easy surgery. I wasn't down at all. I had no shoulder gas pains and on day 4 I did everything I use to do and day 10 rode 4 wheelers all day long. Just according to how well you do with pain. You'll get pain meds to take but most don't need them. I've just been banded over 2 months almost 3 now and if you want to pm me with any questions I'd be more than happy to answer them. I've lost right at 50 pounds and could never have made a better decision. Just wished I'd done it years ago, I was also self pay and would still redo it. Good luck on your decision. I can now walk, jog, run, mow, ride dirtbikes, chase my little granddaughter, she's one. I just enjoy life now and I was ready to just go on and die because I was over 100 pounds overweight. It has given me a new life and can you too.

Student NEEDS HELP OHIO
beachgirl replied to natedogg7171's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My doctor is in Cinci Ohio and he is the best in the world in my opinion. He is my fill doctor and he is the most kind, considerate, caring and really truly talks to you about what's going on in your life. I have lost 50 pounds in 2 1/2 months. I don't know about his age requirements but I'll sure give you his numbers and website and if you call them tell them Sherri Smith sent you. He'll get a kick out of it. If you ever have any questions pm me and I will answer anything you want to ask. I sure wish you luck and if I can help with anything please let me know. www.thebanddoctor.com Dr. Trace Curry -
Congrats Suzanne, I'm so proud for you and God does answer prayers. I don't post to much on here but plan to in the future. I pray you have an uneventful surgery and a very quick recovery. If you need to pm me about any of of the stuff I went through feel free too. I just got my 3rd fill last week and I'm very, very, tight. I wish everyone would pray for me that it's not too tight because they're so expensive to get I'd hate to have to travel that 10 hours round trip to get a slight unfill. It's also that tom so I'm hoping it will loosen up. Please pray for me. I'll keep all of you in my prayers and may God Bless. Love you all,

Hi everyone, Boy, I sure am tight. Be careful what you wish for, is what my Dad is all the time telling me. I got up and fixed breakfast for my son and my daughter who was bringing the baby over for me to watch today. Son is 6'9" tall now so takes a lot to fill him up. I fixed sausage, gravy, biscuits, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and juice with sorghum. I ate one bite of hashbrowns those shredded kind and guess I didn't chew well and got that horrible stuck feeling right in the center of my chest. I just can't eat anything in the mornings. Hope everyone is having a great day. I didn't exercise yesterday but I did mow, weedeat, move 6 bales of straw across my yard to build my fall display, cut back all of the trees and weeds that are hanging over the fence, that took over 2 hours. Then I drug the dog kennel for my mini daschund to the back yard and moved all of his stuff. Cooked a huge supper, did 3 loads of laundry, changed all sheets, vacumned, then got the power sprayer out and did all of the house and the front and back decks. That should all count as something, doesn't it? Well you guys hae a great losing day. I'm going to lay the baby down for a much needed nap.

You'llmake it don't give up. Is it clear liquid? My doctor let me have iced tea, decaf, with artificial sweetner when I thought I was about to die and then chocolate milk which saved my life. The popsickles are wonderful and a lifesaver. And no, once you heal get a proper feel you won't be hungry, you'll still have head hunger, like cravings but most days I could care less if I eat or not.

I wouldn't worry .5 is very conservative. I had 1.25 first one, then 2 weeks later .75 and I could then and only then feel some restriction and then one more month later .4 which puts me at 2.65 in a 4cc's band and I definitely have great restriction. Plus is you have the bigger band that's hardly any fill at all. What size band do you have the Inamed 9.75cm that holds 4cc's of saline like mine or the bigger Vanguard that holds 10 cc's?
