Happy Thanksgiving Julyer's, Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I am just so thankful today to be alive and have no signs today of anymore kidney stones, lol, and so thankful as we're getting ready to eat for my band. I know it won't let me down today as I would normally let myself down. Chew, chew, chew, chew everyone, add the gravy, and pass on the breads, Love you all,

Do you exercise? Have you lost without it?
beachgirl replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost 51 pounds and haven't exercised but I've had neck and foot surgery's right before my banding and can't yet. I'm hoping before too much longer I can do the treadmill at least. I do think it's slowed my weight loss down though. It's been 4 months since banding and still just lost the 51 pounds. Hope this helps. -
Hi guys, I'm feeling better today, but I'm really weak. I think being in the hospital almost all week does that too you, or I hope that's all it is. I'm trying to drink drink drink. My fill is tight but it's not so that I can't eat or drink I just don't want anything. I even eat a piece of some type of blueberry toast while in the hospital so I am surely not too tight if I can eat a whole slice of bread?????????? Who knows, I just know I don't want anymore kidney stones!!!!!!! I hope that everyone has a wonderfule Thanksgiving. I also have lots of 22's, jeans, tops, everything is someone needs them.

I wanted to warn everyone of something I knew but didn't really take it too seriously. I am very tight and haven't been eating much and my drinking had got down to about I don't know, I'm guessing here, 48 ounces per day. Well, Saturday morning, pain woke me up from a deep sleep and I'm talking, worse than natural childbirth pain. I screamed, cried, kicked, and I was home by myself. I'm one of these people you have to drag to a doctor let alone an emergency room. I call my dh and he comes home from an auction and when he gets home, I've thrown on a jogging suit with purse in my hand and cry, lets go the the er. I get there, still screaming with left lower back pain, left lower front pain, throwing up, and just plain dying, so I thought, they'll give me something for kidney infection, because that's what I thought I had and send me home. We didn't take a thing with us, well, 4 days later I'm home because of the holiday's but my pcp said he'd put money on it I'd be back. Kidney stones, that's what I have, have any of you had them. I've passed 5 small ones, well, they looked small to me and lots of what looked like sand off of the gulf of Mexico beaches, but he swears I'll be back. They give me a shot of morphine that I'd been getting and staton or something like that upon leaving but now, 8 hours later I'm in lots of pain again. Trying to just tough it out. They gave me percocet for home but I can't tell it's helping all that much. Anyway, long story short, I was VERY dehydrated and they said that's what caused these and I just wanted to warn everyone, drink like your suppose to and save yourself all of this pain. Didn't mean to write a book and I'm going to lay back down, just wanted to let everyone know where I'd been (just in case you missed me, lol) and just give everyone a heads up.

So sorry to hear but now it's behind you. Isn't it neat how when we, excuse if too gross but when we throw up it is not bad like it was prebanding. I mean it's bad anytime but I guess what I mean is it's better, lol. Hope your feeling better soon and hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Yes, I agree, you'll be fine. I didn't have him and I went to Dr. Sanchez because of the hospital. I went to Santa Agracias and it was a huge, full hospital, but complication rate is soooo low in Mexico because they've done so many I think you'll do great. Good luck.

August 2006 - Running totals and updates
beachgirl replied to faybie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had my fourth fill and am at 3.00 cc's in 4cc's band. Have lost about 52 pounds in the past 4 months. Surgery in Monterrey, Mexico with Dr. Rodolfo Sanchez -
I tried the Flintstones chewables but didn't like the taste so my doc told me to try the Flintstones gummies and they are great. I would eat them if I didn't need them. LOL.

My doctor as well took me off arthritis meds and put me on pain killers and muscle relaxers. I take Loritab 10, and flexeril per his instructions. I had neck and back and foot surgery.

Hello and welcome Kelly, I hope everything is going well for you and yes from what I went through it is very normal. You need to just concentrate on healing and not worry at all about how much you can eat for now. It will all come in time and once you get good restriction it will not at all be a problem. Just wanted to say hi and congrats.
-
I think that is what is sooooo amazing with our bands if for some reason we gain or loose restriction the band is ALWAYS there for us to resume our weight loss. Good luck on getting pregnant and I bet with your weight loss starting up again it will happen. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck and keep up the great work.

Yah Beth, I'm so proud your band was fine. OMG, did you know, now I'm telling this and I know I'm going to get some, what in the world are you thinking Sherri comments but here I go anyway, I am lucky to get in 15 to 20 grams of protein per day, and I had no clue it affected our weightloss. I mean I know we need it health wise but I just can't eat much. I ran out of vitamins 2 weeks ago and haven't bought anymore, I know I'm a poor excuse for a bandster but I've just been so busy and I know that too is no excuse. I will try to do better. Glad your doing well Beth.

Fast food french fries are THE WORST I can't eat bread crackers chips hamburgers pasta oh hell, it would be easier to say what I can eat than what I can't, LOL.

I have bc/bs of Kentucky and I pay 619.25 per month for my husband and I and they wouldn't pay a dime and don't cover any postop or fills.
-
My doc is fine with it but I don't drink it because it causes pain in my chest sterum area, I don't know why but it does. He says your stomach is a muscle and it's not going to stretch and he's been doing these a long time.

Do you have to drink something hot before you eat?
beachgirl replied to kim2bhealthy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with you Kim, I just had my 4th 2 weeks ago and I get stuck on everything. Today, I've been sick for 2 days so I thought I'll eat a couple of ritz crackers, after 1 I got stuck, so then I fried me a hamburger and cut me up 1/4 in small pieces drowned in ketchup, got stuck. I've heard people say they can't handle cold drinks and I've always got unsweet iced tea in my hands (decaf) so I guess I also need to try the hot thing. Let me know if you figure it out. -
What is the true maximum capacity of the 4cc band?
beachgirl replied to NowNotSoBigGuy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
According to my surgeon, if you don't have as much too loose and not as much stomach fat he uses the 9.75cm band which holds 4cc's but he will to 5cc's because if he used the bigger band I would never get enough restriction because it's bigger. They use the bigger band for bigger stomachs and if you have a little more too loose according to him. -
What kinds of tests you have to do before the surgury?
beachgirl replied to DerickM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self pay and had nothing but bloodwork. Funny and Tracy went the same time as me and three other girls I work with and they just had the bloodwork. It's different with different doctors but none of them have you do any of the camera up anything tests, LOL. NO seriously, one girlfriend of mine had a doc who did all of the tests and If I'm not mistaken it's bloodwork, chest exray, ekg., stress test and the physc test are about the norm for docs here in the states and I'm sure others will chime in with theirs. It is absolutely nothing to worry over, I promise you. -
Great, That's three of us, come on guys, lets all jump on the 20 pound band wagon by Christmas, we can do it we are July bandsters and we can do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Okay Beth, Let's race our butts off, literally. We have little over one month, we can do it, yes we can. Oh crap, I just noticed my wwwww's are not wanting to work on my laptop. What do you do for that? Sorry, it just happened. LOL. Okay, Let's check in at least once a week with each other for support. You go girl.
-
Well, I can say nothing but good things about my experiences. I had surgery July 10, 06 and have lost 50+ pounds in less than 4 months.

Hey Mary, Maybe you and I will hit onderland together. I'm at 219 so maybe we can both do it together. My very tight fill seem to let me eat a little today and no pb so maybe it's getting better. Chris I'm so awesomely proud of you, you rock. Proud of you to Karik. I just hit the 50 mark even and it has took me 4 months, much, much slower than I expected but I guess I'll eventually get there. Hi Beth, hope your doing better today. Love you all, Sherri Jo

I did the same thing. I weighed 219 and aunt flo came and weighed 225, I also hit the floor. It's been over for 2 days today so I finally weighed again and it was 219.2 again. It'll drive you crazy if you let it.
