Why did I do this to myself..........

You'll get there. Don't be so hard on yourself. First of all you've just been banded and have no restriction plus you've not had a fill yet so you should feel no different yet than before surgery. After you get good restriction trust me, you won't be able to overeat on the good foods.

    Question about last fill, etc.

That's not a whole lot of fill for that size band. I stay swelled for at least 7 days. I would try just calling my surgeon and then doing the liquids/mushies also, make sure your chewing, chewing, chewing and then chew some more. I also eat with my granddaughters baby spoon and fork and cut into pieces I would cut for her. This will also cause you to get the stuck feeling if you don't do. Good luck.

    Just starting research

I too had disc problems. Have had neck and back surgeries and this had helped me dramatically.

    Why can't my husband understand????

I agree, he'll come around. My husband and I have been married for 25 years and 5 months ago I left the hospital after banding and we went to the guesthouse. He was MAD at me and I didn't realize it for having the surgery. We had one of the biggest loud arguments of our entire life there in Mexico. He had me crying. I kept saying, I've just had surgery, I'm in a foreign country and you pick a fight. I guess he was just scared but I really didn't need that at that time. Things are better but most of all I was 270, and 41, very close to your same stats. I too had tried every diet known to mankind and could loose but not keep it off. Now, 5 months later, although it's somewhat stalled, I have still lost 50 almost 60 pounds and feel sooooo much better. Your making the right decision for you and that's what counts. My husband is very trim so he had no clue what I was going through and still doesnt.

    Holy Cow! *fans mouth*

OMG, I haven't had ANY chinese food since I was banded almost 5 months ago. Boy did I ever love it but I'm having trouble eating anything right now because I am too tight. I'm going tomorrow for my first slight unfill and so maybe on the way home from that 10 hour round trip drive I just might have to try me some, your making he hungry.
  6. You will be up and running full speed by Christmas. I was doing all of my usual household stuff on day 4 and riding 4 wheelers all day on day 8. You'll be great and dont let anyone bust your bubble. Have a wonderful surgery and I'll be thinking about you.

    stupid question

I agree this is the BEST site. I know that alot of the people that were suspended started the other site but I still think this site rocks and I know that things seem to be much better now than when all of that stuff was going on. Alex is the best at what she does in my opinion.

    IF He Did It?????

I just amazed that O.J. can wander out in the world daily without anyone taking care of him themselves. I surprised he hasn't been oft, already. If that is the correct word.

Hi everyone, Chris, close your ears. I'm am having the worst week. Still pbing occasionally but I'm craving and eating everything in sight. Please send me your hugs and willpower. It's 3 days before T.O.M. do you think maybe that's all thats wrong. Everything I see on TV I go fix and eat some of. Granted not as much but I have truly blew it this whole week.

Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico

Yes, Dr. Sanchez is only taking a chosen few at this point and trying to semi retire. He trained Dr. Zapata. He is great too. Dr. Sanchez has done over 7000 and while I was there told me he was only going to work a couple of half days a week now.

Hi Beth, I sure hope you have a wonderful time. Remember to take small bites and don't pb. I have went 4 days without pbing, maybe my band is letting up a little bit. You remember when I would talk about taking a small sip with my meals, that's where alot of the trouble was coming from. I can't even look at a drink while eating. I remember a couple of months ago my doctor telling me if I could drink with my meals I wasn't tight enough. Boy does Dr. Curry know his stuff. I am still hoping to hold on to all of this fill. I have picked up the phone 3 times to call and schedule an unfill and everytime I will be having a good day and no signs of pbing. Go figure. Well, have a good trip and we'll talk when you get back. I'm sure not making much progress on the 20 pounds by Christmas. I better get my butt in gear and fast. Good night.

    Newbie with Question

I thought I was feeling my port too about 1 to 2 weeks out but he assured me it was scar tissue where I was healing and sure enough when I got my first fill it showed on fluro. Your port is very deep. I to this day can feel a hard lump which I swear somedays is my port but I have the lowprofile port and it's deeper it just feels like my port. Hope your doing well. Your weightloss is great. Just focus on healing as you don't have any fill yet. As soon as your restriction fills up the weightloss will follow. Congrats.
  13. 1st picture if 270 pounds 4 months ago, 2nd picture is 4 days ago at 218. Oh, I'm in the red tshirt in the 2nd picture.

Self Payers- any problems later on?

I'm a little too tight but no problems. I had a wonderful experience in Mexico and wouldn't change anything. I too was self pay and my fills are self pay too. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.

    Chewing Gum

I was told I couldn't have gum, too big of a chance of swallowing it so I haven't had that problem. Bless your heart that's a long time with liquids. Luckily my doc was one week liquids, one week mushies then soft proteins then reg. food. I hope it goes by fast for you, that's a long time. Good luck.

Welcome Joe, We're all here to help. If you have any questions ask away and again welccome to lbt.
  19. I got my lab results back and they are uric acid stones. They are putting me on some kind of medicine to take the rest of my life and it's suppose to help me keep from getting them again. And yes, Thank you Dr. Curry for always being there for us. I will be seeing you next week for my first slight unfill. You are the best and I tell everyone that. You do rock for sure.
  20. I know I should just wait and call you tomorrow but I just wondered if you could give me any advice. It's not my band but it's band related. You do my fills and this last fill I'm pretty tight, which I like, but I hadn't paid any attention to I wasn't drinking much. I woke up Saturday with the worst pain I've ever had in my life and rushed to the ER and have been there ever since. 4 days now. Kidney stones, I've passed 5 so far with lots of gravel, white sand looking stuff. They said I brought this on myself because I was dehydrated and wasn't drinking enough. I've just gotten home after 4 days but my pcp swears I'll be back and the pain has already started up. Is there anything else for in the future I can do to help this situation and keep it from happening again. Thank you for any advice and I'll probably see you in a month or 2.

    July 2006 Band Crew

Thanks Beth, You are the best. I will try that. I so want this fill to work as they are sooooo expensive. I know you shouldn't keep a fill just because of money but when your not rich and your insurance company won't pay a penny for anything associated with your band, well you know what I mean. I will try that today. I can get down some stuff. I can probably do the ground beef especially with maybe ketchup squirted on it. I sure want to give this a try before a unfill. I will also go today and try that isopure and order me some more unjury. I still have a strawberry and chocolate unjury but don't know how to use it. I sprinkled the unflavored on any food but I don't think the flavored ones would be good like that, lol. Hope your having a great week, and thanks for always being so helpful.

    Help

I agree with Kat. I would sure get that fever looked into. I also agree with her about the surgery. My surgery was easier than my route canal. I had absolutely no problems was up and walking within 30 mins. after recovery and flew from Mexico to Kentucky on day 3. I think someone has told you wrong on the surgery. I know personally of 8 people who have had it and none had any problems and I think most people on this forum were problem free, for the most part. Good luck and hope you get well soon.

    July 2006 Band Crew

I know what you mean. I got my last fill and put me at 3 cc's in a 4 cc band and I've been so damn tight I can't hardly eat anything. My fills with the driving 10 hours and the overnight stay and eats usually cost me about 750.00. So, that's why I haven't rushed back for an unfill. I get stuck on everything. It's getting really next to me and I went back to my pcp today for a follow up after being dismissed from the hospital from my kidney stones and I've only lost 3 pounds in one whole month. I was losing 2 pounds a week before this fill. Tonight, I eat one bite of homemade enchiladas and stuck. For breakfast I eat one bite of ham, stuck. For lunch I thought well I know I can eat a few chips because they're crunchy and sure enough I eat a handful. I can't eat chicken, hardly no proteins. What is a person to do. I know I've been banded for 4 months and should know what to do but I'm so confused. I guess a slight unfill is my only option. I was just kinda hoping with time it would losen up. What do you guys think?

    Hey! New and Need Advice.

Do you have any comorbities? Diabetes, sleep apnea, arthritis, joint pain, high blood pressure, any of those? If you have at least 2 I know they will usually do on patients of less than 40.0 BMI. Mine was just under that and my insurance was giving me the run around so I just went to Mexico. Good luck on your upcoming journey.
