scared to get banded now
beachgirl replied to aluckygem's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you'll check stats there are very few who have problems have to be unbanded. It's less than 1 percent. Usually all of us who aren't having problems are out enjoying life with our new bands and not on here posting. I know 10 people personally and we are all doing great as far as our bands go and I don't eat any diet food so don't get upset are worried, your only reading the very few that have problems. I wouldn't trade my band for anything in the world. -
Yep, liquid in liquid out, that's what my surgeon told me too, luckily I didn't have to do any preop diet, thank the lord. It will pass though.
-
If your like me there's never as much in there as you think. I thought I had 3.00cc's and I only had 1.9. I've scheduled a fill too for next week and I hope it gets things moving.
-
You go girl, I think you will do this with no problems. I can just tell by the way your thinking. Take one day at a time and don't even sit a drink down with you at your meal. I know it's hard, I have the same trouble wanting to drink with my meals too. Good luck and keep us informed on how your doing.

PLONKER, Now I've heard it called everything. I don't know when I've laughed so hard, no pun intended. Well, if this theory is true, even though my hubby is underweight I will still be making him an appt. for lapband. Congrats on your weightloss and I agree with you, I've lost 50 pounds so far and been banded 6 months and it does help with the sex life.

My surgeon says there is no evidence of it hurting your band but that we don't need the caffiene. One of his asst. is banded, Evette, and she says she was addicted to coke, not diet and still has one every day and has been at goal for 5 years. I use to love them but now the only time I even want a drink is with popcorn.

WTG, That is awesome, sounds like your at your sweet spot. Keep up the great work.

Obesity Debate w/Coworker; Progress?
beachgirl replied to TheCascadian's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I admire you for what you said and you couldn't be more correct. I had tried every diet known to mankind and had only been overweight for 5 years and was 100 pounds overweight. I was always very small. Then had a couple of surgeries and then hit 40 and they did a test that showed my metabolism was working at less than 1 percent capacity so you couldn't be more correct. I had the surgery 7 months ago and althought the past 2 months it's really slowed down I lost 60 pounds the first 5 months and the bigger you are the faster you loose. I'm sure things will pick back up. Congrats on your decision to a healthier, happier, better looking you and you will love your band. -
Shopping for Surgery. All Dr.'s info and pricing appreciated
beachgirl replied to Lap_dancer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too was self pay and myself and funny and Tracy all went to Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Zapata in Monterrey Mexico and it was a wonderful experience. Right now it's 8500.00 which includes everything and I can also get you 1000.00 off of that for a limited time. He does surgery at Santa Agracias Hospital which is a full trauma hospital, which is gorgeous. It includes all your travel needs while there and transportation, tests, meds, eats for yourself and also covers all your surgery, hospital, anthesiaology and one person to go with you. I have great pictures and you can also go to www.ready4achange.com and they will have everything you need there. I lost 60 pounds the first 5 1/2 months but still need to loose 50 more. I had absolutely no problems and they speak English, and you can call the surgeon day or night on his cell and he answers it if you have problems. PM me if you'd like more info. Best of luck to you and on your banding decision. Whoever does yours will change your life and make you very happy. -
Okay, everyone probably knows me unless your new and knows I've done fairly well with my band. I was banded 7 months ago and lost 60 pounds the first 6 months now I've ran into trouble. I had a slight unfill 2 months ago and then 3 weeks ago went back up to 1.9cc's in my 4cc's band. I haven't lost one pound in 2 months. I am soooo discouraged. I was the one always giving good advice and doing so well and now feel like one huge failure. I'm wondering if I need another fill. Dr. C told me last week if things weren't better by today that I could have another fill but I constantly worry about getting overfilled. I can eat anything but the main thing is I'm constantly hungry and just want to eat all of the time. This is so weird for me since I had such good luck at first. Just hoping someone that has experienced this can help because I was self pay and have over 15,000.00 invested and my hubby is already mad at me for not losing the past 2 months. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys,

Will someone please help a fellow bandster?
beachgirl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone, Yes, Karen it's a horrible thing to go through and I hope your doing great. I do believe it's hunger, hunger because in 6 months I've not had this at all. Not in the least bit. Losing had been so easy and now is not happening at all. I agree Julie, I scheduled a fill for Thursday, Dr. Curry will know how to get it just right. Am I the only one that has a huge fear of being to filled? I worry about it constantly and I believe if I would quit dwelling on it that I would do better. Everyone have a great week and I'll let you know how it goes. -
Eating some right now, umm ummm ummm ummm good.
-
That's a good ideal about not telling him. He asks me every single day, what do you weigh. I get sooo tired of hearing that. He has lost the exact same amount of pounds as me in the same amount of time and he didn't get banded just did it on his own and don't you know he likes to remind me. I called Dr. Curry and he agreed that I probably need another fill. I am constantly hungry and it is the first time since being banded so it's really throwing me for a loop. Thanks for you help and wow, you are so close to goal, I'm so proud for you, your doing wonderful.

Will someone please help a fellow bandster?
beachgirl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for all of your help and I will try eveyone's remedies and Gayle, that's so odd that you said that. I have been at 220 pounds for years and then gained up to the 270 and now I'm staying around the 215-220 mark. That's really weird. I guess I read all of the posts about losing they're bands and my husband would most deifinitely kill me if I got to much fill and lost mine. I do believe I need one though. I called Dr. Curry today and I have only 1.9cc's in the 4cc's band and he too said if I'm hungry all the time and there is nothing I can't eat and I just am looking for food that I probably need another fill. I hope it is just a temporary thing because 2 months and no weightloss is a long time. Thanks for all of your help, I knew I could count on my bandster buddies. -
Hey there Jane, I'm sorry I've not been on here lately to check on everyone but I'm such a loser and ashamed to even come on here. I don't know what's wrong. I've been blaming it on the 2 predisone shots last month but did you guys know I haven't lost one single pound in 2 months. That's why I quit giving advice, I'm the one that needs it not to give it. I lost 60 pounds the first 6 months and now nothing. I got a fill 3 weeks ago but still I'm soooo hungry and can eat anything. I'm up to 2.0 cc's in a 4 cc's band and feel like the biggest loser, no pun intended. I think I'll try another fill this week. Has anyone else been through this and ashamed to get on here or I'm I just plain stupid? Hope everyone is doing great. So sorry to hear about your leak Susan, hope your doing better and get things fixed soon. Love all of you and wish everyone a great week and maybe I'll be back on here more this week.

I agree that is not normal and my surgeon had me on no preop diet and I had steak and potatoe hours before surgery in Mexico and had no problems at all. I never even needed anything for pain. Tell her to see a dr. asap, this is nothing to fool around with. I wish her luck. Keep us informed.

Yes, I've had them and cat scans and it causes no problems at all. If you don't tell them ahead of time they flip out and think you've got a chemo port.

Underwear During Surgery?
beachgirl replied to Tazza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So funny and I couldn't agree more. This was the very last thing I was worried about. -
I was in for a slight fill one week ago today. I don't remember what I'm at for sure fill wise but it's been a week and I'm still hungry and have gained one pound. First gain since surgery 6 months ago. I'm tracking my eating and am really hungry. Could I possibly need more fill. I know that's kind of a open air question but your my doctor and I didn't know what else I should do. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Your the greatest. Sherri Jo Smith

Dr. Curry, one of your patients with a ?
beachgirl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sure will. Thanks sooo much for always being there with your help. I had gained a pound first time since surgery and panicked. Thanks again. -
I fly every 2 weeks and all around the world and sometimes do work in our local courthouse where you also have to be scanned and I've never set one off but I also have tons of metal in my neck and back and that's never set them off either, titanium I guess. You should be fine.
-
I would agree. The fact that you can eat more than a cup, cup and a half, don't feel full very long, looking for food and can eat most anything I would get a slight fill. I wouldn't worry about how much you have in there. They told me they can get almost double in your band if they need to from what it holds so don't let that scare you.
-
I use the unjury protein powders and you can sprinkle them in the broths that you normally buy if you want to do it that way. 30 grams of protein is how much I shook in and that way you get a bunch at a time. It comes in unflavored, choc. van. straw. or kinds. Good luck.

Hi there and congratulations on your decision to get banded. It has been the best decision of my life. I too went to Mexico, I live in Kentucky and had NEVER been to Mexico but let me tell you my experience and then of course you do what you need to do for yourself. I went to 3 seminars here and the 3 had done less than 300 surgeries each and I had health insurance Anthen BC/BS but I went to Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Zapata at www.ready4achange.com They were wonderful. They've done over 7000 each and it was 8500.00 for everything including one person to go with you, food, your stay, and your chaffeur. Surgery was 45 min. and recovery one hour, left 18 hrs. later to the guesthouse of the Dr. and then one more night there and then flew home. I've had absolutely no problems. I needed to loose 100 pounds, I'm 5'7" and I lost 40 the first 3 months and another 25 the next 3 months and an well over half way. If your looking for a doctor here I know it's far away from you but he's the Surgeon who answers all of the complications questions on here and you can search his name and he is Dr. Trace Curry. If I'd known about him before I would have gone to him. He's my fill doctor and he's topnotch. He's got an excellent price and done many, many. He's in Cincinatti Ohio and I'll give you his info. Call and ask for Charity and tell her Sherri Smith told you to call and see what they can do for you. He's a fabulous, sweet, caring, and very easy of the eyes, lol. and very experienced. www.thebanddoctor.com is his web page. If I can be of any help please pm me and I will be glad to help you.
