Congrats Donna Marie on your continued weightloss and upcoming marriage. My 25th wedding anniversary is Memorial Day. I will be thinking of you. Edie, what in the world is your secret. I was banded on July 10, 06 and have only lost 60 pounds. I have never felt like such a failure in all my life. I don't ever eat over 1000 calories a day and am trying to exercise but my back is giving me fits. You've done wonderful and I'm so proud for you. Hope everyone is having a great week. I'm leaving for Florida for 10 days a week from today and am still in a size 18 so no bathing suit for me. Too embarrassed. Love you all,

Hi there, Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I've been banded for 10 months and lost my first 50 pounds in the first 6 months. You will love your band. My doctor is Dr. Curry and he is fabulous. I just love him. I drive 10 hours round trip to see him and he's worth everybit of it. I am mysherrijo on myspace. Would love to be friends if you need one. Welcome and let me know if I can answer any questions for you. -
question about back pain and non insurance band
beachgirl replied to lookingout's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why are you afraid to tell her. My gp was tickled to death that I went to Mexico and got my band and then he wanted to know everything I knew about it because his daughter was thinking about the band. He said he would rather her go to my doctor who had done over 7000 than have it done here where they had done hundreds. Don't be afraid, tell her. For one thing it might help with diagnosis of your back pains and another in case you ever need to be intibated it would help with them knowing about which tube to use to not damage your band. Good luck, hope your doing better soon. -
Will an ear infection delay surgery?
beachgirl replied to serenity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it will matter at all. They put us all on antibiotics as soon as we arrived in Mexico so I think you will be fine as long as you aren't running a fever or something. I would tell them what your taking but I think you will be fine. Good luck on your surgery. -
Hi there, I live in Eddyville Kentucky so not far from you. I go through Louisville to Cinci for my fills. It's weird we are the same age. I'll be 43 in July. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. You will love your band. If you have any questions please feel free to pm me. Keep in touch.

I've got a Gateway and my dh has a Dell. I've had absolutely no problems with mine and his has been to the shop twice. I have the 20 in. screen and it has beautiful color and clarity. I'm sure it's to each it's own just look them all over and just buy what appeals to you. Our computer in the office is seldom ever used and it is a hp. We both use our laptops hours each day. They will ruin you.

Where exactly do you usually get fills?
beachgirl replied to somethingelse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, same with me. Dr. Curry does my fills and he has to do them because my port is hard to hit. He is so accurate and very good. If he's not to far for you you ought to look him up. I drive 10 hours round trip. -
Try the new stuff you mix in water or food or drink. Its completely tasteless, colorless, odorless and no texture. It's like it's not there. As usual my sometimer's is kicking in and I can't remember the name of it. I too have the same problem but with this stuff it keeps you regular.

Lap Band in Mexico? Looking for an inexpensive alternative.
beachgirl replied to marcyinak's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Zapata in Monterrey Mexico. They have both done over 7000 bands, never lost a patient and have less than 1/2 percent complicatons. Dr. Zapata is the guru for this. I have heard good things about Dr. Rumbault but not Kuri. Just do lots of research. Mine was 8500.00 and you can get it done right now including everything and free fills for life for 7500.00 and they also set you up with aftercare here in the states. Good luck and pm me if you have any questions. -
swollen and bruised after fill?
beachgirl replied to fernandoandme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, You'll be fine in a couple of days. My last fill I got poked about 6 times and it hurt like hell and I was bruised and swollen for 3 days. Just give it a couple of days and you should be back to normal. -
It's just north of Panamal City and South of Destin on the Gulf

What tests did YOU have pre-op?
beachgirl replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely nothing other than bloodwork 30 min. before surgery. -
Hey Kat, We just bought some land in Fort Walton Beach, Destin area and are building a new home. We are in the process of finishing ours here first so that will just be our winter place. Maybe we can hook up after we get ours done. We're leaving to go there for 2 weeks on May 30, to get everything started and everyone hired.

What pain killers are allowed pre-op?
beachgirl replied to NoWorry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my loritab and vicodin right up until midnight before surgery and the next day after surgery and been taking every since. I feel you, no pun intended. I have more metal plates, screws, pins, rods running down my back and neck than a freight train and would literally die without my pain meds. Good luck with your surgery. -
They put me back on my loritab immediately after surgery. I'll be on it for the rest of my life or something similiar. They test me periodically to make sure everything is alright and so far so good and been taking it almost a year. I take prevacid with it just as a precaution. I've never had acid reflux or anthing yet. I bet they can work something out for you. I would literally die with my ruptured discs and from my previous neck and back surgeries. My body isn't adapting well for some reason with all of the metal rods, plates, screws and things that go all the way down my back. I have to take it. Good luck to you.

Just a tip that might help people find it better. There is already a July bandster thread for the Julyer's of 06, you might want to edit it and put July bandsters 07. Just a thought to make it easier and congrats on your surgery date.

Yes, it is wonderful there. He uses the same hospital as the President of the US uses if he needs attetnion. I have pictures of the hosptial, guesthouse, and everything. He has done more bands than anyone in the world at this point with Dr. Ortiz running a close second. They're both great surgeons and know there stuff. If you pm I can get you 1000.00 off of your price.

Cant get over the hump...this cant be the end!
beachgirl replied to Ole Miss Chic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG, I'm f*****, I've been banded almost 10 months and have only lost 60 something pounds and have 40 more to go. I wouldn't have had the surgery if I'd know you only loose the first year. This makes me mad. -
I couldn't agree with you more, kudos to you for speaking up.

Hi I'm new and still waiting for a lap band.
beachgirl replied to natz2010's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Wow, that is a long time to wait. You will love it here. There is so much wonderful information and everyone is here for you and will help you along the way. Good luck on your upcoming surgery and I hope it comes through soon for you. -
Go to ready4achange.com, thats where I went and it was fabulous. Dr. Sanchez done my surgery and now his partner is doing them since his untimely death. They are fabulous and have done more bands that most anyone in the world. They have proctored so many US doctors. He's done over 7000 and charges 8500.00 for absolutely everything. That includes all of your transportation while your there your stay, meds, and your food for yourself. They are great and do surgery out of a state of the art hospital with full trauma and icu unit. It's not a clinic. Go to they're website or pm me if you have any questions. They guarantee theyre bands if you was to have trouble they fix for free and they set up your aftercare for you here in the states if you don't want the free fills for life there. I've not had one problems. I would go back there in a heartbeat.

I bet I am not the only one after 2 months, eating around 600 calories per day, no bad foods, am so tight I can barely eat but dreading slight unfill because I feel like I made a bad decision in gettin last fill. Feel like I should have known better. Surely, I'm not the only one. My husband is griping because I was self pay and have been out around 20 grand but thank the Lord, Dr. Curry doesn't charge for unfills but then I feel I'm wasting his time as well. Wouldn't you all agree this morning I tried to eat 1 cup of oats and could only eat 1/2 cup then at 2pm tried to eat green Beans and after 4 bites said forget it. I haven't lost a pound since my fill. I hate to have the unfill because I feel stupid, but, this not eating and still not losing has got to stop. I just figured that maybe there were more people going through with these feelings than me and just thought maybe we could support each other in this. Thanks for listening, Seasoned bander of 9 months who still makes mistakes, Sherri
