  1. I'm so sorry it took so long to answer! I've been so busy with school and everything that I haven't been able to keep up with this site. I'm back on track now and I will not neglect this site because I don't feel like I'm in control right now, but I think that if I keep reading these message boards, I'll be ok. Thank you for thinking of me!!

  2. I have to agree with you on that one! This time last year, I was going to walmart to buy the little pints of ice cream because my latest diet hadn't worked, and I knew that I was going into the school year as a fat person again. I'm so glad I made this change, and I'm glad that I'm sticking with it!

  3. Ugh, I think I would be a lot happier without my midsection lol! Thank you! I think I've finally got restriction now because before, I could eat as much as I wanted, and I wasn't full at all..EVER. But now, for example today: I went to the mall and got a burger and small tater tots from Sonic, and I finished the small tater tots, and I was so full that I couldn't eat anymore! I was so happy! I got hungry about 2 hours after that, but I think that if I change my eating habits/the things I eat, and eat more substantial foods with nutrients, I could get full on the amount we're SUPPOSED to be eating and stay full for mabye 4 hours! Before now, I couldn't imagine eating on 4 ounces of food, but now, I think it's a really good amount to eat at a meal. I think I'll do the 4-5 smalls meals a day thing. What about you? How are you doing?

  4. I think that the only reason I was able to do the liquid diet was because I was afraid of complications with the surgery, so that kept me in check. After the surgery, I went back to classes the next day, I was sore, but it wasn't too bad at all. The first 2 weeks after surgery, I didn't feel hungry at all, so it wasn't hard to not eat solids at all. I barely ate anything at all because I felt really full and uncomfortable even after a couple of spoonfuls of soup.

Was that helpful? I can answer any other questions you have as well.

  5. My doctor actually just sprung this whole thing on me. I wasn't even thinking about it, but he said that I was gaining weight steadily, and that it was alarming that it wasn't stopping. Also, none of the diets he'd put me on in the past worked after about 3 weeks or so, I'd gain it all back, even though I was following everything correctly. So, to answer the first question, my doctor set me up with a consultation that very next week. The whole process took about 3 weeks from consultation to surgery because I'm on my mom's insurance, and she's a federal employee, and I didn't have to do the 6 month diet/psych eval/etc. But I'm sure that other insurances do the same thing, and probably won't make you wait that long.

  6. Hey! Things are going great!! I finally broke out of the 220s!! I got my first fill yesterday, and it didn't hurt at all! They used flouroscopy and it took like 10 min and I was done! How are things going with you?

  7. Hey! I was on the liquid diet for two weeks, and I'm pretty sure that everyone has to be on it. It shrinks your liver and allows easier access to your stomach during the surgery. Hope that helps!

  8. Thank you! I didn't even know it was 4 pounds a week! Thank you so much, that really brightened my day!

  9. great! Yeah, my recovery took way less out of me than I would've expected as well.

  10. Hey! I was looking at the forums, and I realized that we got our bands about the same time (I got mine on the 2nd of March) and I was just wondering if you wanted to be accountability buddies or something :)
