  1. I was banded on Feb. 3rd. I go for my first fill on March 9th and can't wait! I did bad for about a week and didn't listen but I didn't feel well eating whatever I wanted. So, I changed my eating habits, followed the program and, guess what? I felt great! I've had one or two slip ups since then, but I'm hoping that I'm finally learning this is my new way of life. The last day or two I've been hungry - as though I couldn't get full. Hopefully that will all be behind me next week.

How's everyone else doing? Reading on this blog every day really helps keep me focused. THank you to all of you!

  2. First of all, stop beating yourself up over these mistakes. I was banded on 2/3. I did great, also, with the pre-op diet and for the first week after surgery. My downfall was when my surgeon told me I could start incorporating real food since I was feeling so well. I also started eating things I shouldn't - I ate a Burger King whopper jr., part of a bagel and numerous other things. Nothing ever got stuck, but I can tell you that the last two days I have not felt well. I spoke to my surgeon yesterday and he said to go back to a soft diet and see how I feel.

Remember - it's not too late to start over. Let'e start over today together. I'm happy to support you and would appreciate your support for me. Remember - we didn't get in this position because we have lots of will power. Will power is something we need to keep working on. Failure is not an option - that's my motto on this journey.

  3. Thank you for the suggestions. I did call the doctor because I was getting worried. He wasn't overly concerned. He said to take some Gas-X and go back to a soft diet for the next day or so and see how I feel. He said that if the pain continues until Monday that he would see me in the office, but he thought it would probably feel better by then.

I think it is my body warning me to pay attention and be more careful about what I'm eating. Maybe it's the wake up call I needed! Thanks again for the advice and support.

  4. I am 17 days post-op and have generally been doing very well. I am on a regular diet and have been for about a week. I have been eating some things that I'm not supposed to but with no restriction, nothing is getting stuck.

My problem started about a day ago. I have some real discomfort/pain in my upper left chest - just above my left breast. At first I thought the pain was from eating the wrong things yesterday but this pain is no where near my port.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Since its the weekend, I hesitate to call the surgeon because I don't want to go to the ER. I would say my pain is currently a 5/10. Anyone else have these symptoms?

I thought about gas pain but if that was it I would've expect it to happen right after surgery and not now. I would appreciate any input anyone has.

    Thank you!

  5. OMG! I feel like this post was written for me. I was banded on Feb. 3rd. I followed the diet for 1 week completely, but by then I started to feel great and was so excited to eat - so I did. I've pretty much eaten whatever I wanted since then. I'm sure I've gained some weight back. I'm so mad at myself. I haven't been able to eat as much as I would have before the surgery, but I certainly have made some bad choices. I definitely have the hiccups and have felt pain when I'm eating too quickly. I need to get back on track. I'm going to keep reading these posts to try and stay on track. I'm counting the days until my first fill. When will I ever get a hold of this food addiction? I didn't go through all of this, including surgery, to gain weight again! Please help!!!

  6. I am still having diarrhea and it has been 3 days since my surgery. Otherwise, I feel pretty well. I called the doctor and he said to start on the next phase of eating today. So far I've had a small cup of SF pudding and about 3 hrs. later 1 cup of Lipton chicken noodle Soup. I was actually surprised how my stomach felt pretty full rather quickly. Up until now I've been really hungry.

My other issue is food. I made dinner for the rest of my family tonight and it killed me not to sit down and eat. I wasn't hungry, but smelling and seeing the food made me want to eat. If I only ate when I was hungry, I wouldn't be in this position. Now I'm going to have to learn to do just that. Anyone else have this conflict?

  7. I was also banded two days ago and am having the same problem - I've been hungry all day. But, I also think my problem might be that I miss eating. So far today I've had 2 cups of Decaf tea, two small cups of sugar free Jello, a sugar free popsicle and a cup of chicken broth. I finally feel full after the chicken broth. I can't wait until day 4 when I can start with Protein Shakes and yogurt - I think that will be a lot easier.
