Valentine's Day Wt loss Challenge 2010
Libbyjane1976 replied to kaninag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm definitely in! -
Fasion Bug! They usually have pretty good sales and coupons! If you hit the season right you can get a bunch of stuff off of the clearance racks as well. I spent $60 back in August and got a bathing suit, 4 tank tops, a t-shirt and a work shirt. If that doesn't work, there's always the Salvation Army.

Now that you are losing Weight...
Libbyjane1976 replied to Patterba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I cut my hair shorter than it's ever been in my life and it's blonder. I actually wore shorts this past summer instead of capris and more tank tops. Can't wait to see what next summer brings for me! I think I may start to wear skirts! Short skirts! -
Don't think about it. Quit getting down on yourself about it, there's nothing you can do now but change it around!! Call your doctor get in for a fill asap!! Then go back to band basics!!! You can do it!!!!

Frustrated with 1-2lb weight loss rate?
Libbyjane1976 replied to gnortenjones's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well as people enjoy reminding me everytime I get frustrated with the 1-2 lbs a week. You didn't gain the weight over night and you certainly aren't going to lose it over night. lol. I hate it when they say that!!! Even if it is true. -
My sister considers lap-band surgery "cheating", and I am TICKED!
Libbyjane1976 replied to shellyphaunts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's hard dealing with negativity like that especially since it is your sister. I'm in the same boat with my sister. She weighs about what my starting weight was. I've been banded now almost 10 months and she has seen the progress I've made and decided that she wants to do that for herself and has been going through her process. Hopefully next month she will have her band as well. I don't know if it's because she truly wants to change her lifestyle or if it's because she's jealous of the attention that I get and wants that for herself. Either way I told her the lapband is only a tool and how you use it is up to you. Talk to your sister, maybe she wants to get the lapband but doesn't know what she needs to do. Tell her that even though you have the band to help you lose weight, you still have to change your lifestyle and the foods you eat. Maybe she will change her mind and be supportive or better yet get the band done for herself so you guys can be supportive of one another and go through this together!!! -
Feeling the port....
Libbyjane1976 replied to deb12983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I fondly refer to my port as my "tumor". I really feel it the most whenever i lay on my stomach on a harder surface. For example: the floor or the beach. lol. whenever I go to the beach I have to shift the sand away from that area so I don't feel it. it doesn't really bother me anymore. At first I was like what the heck but as time goes on it's just a part of you. -
Sex before and after Lapband

Since getting banded and losing weight my sex drive has increased. Big time. I just feel better and so much more confident. -
Fat my entire life, will it work?
Libbyjane1976 replied to nlawlor341's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started packing on the pounds when I was about 7. During those years and in high school I was always about 20 lbs heavier than the rest of the kids. After high school I ballooned up and next thing I knew I was 313 lbs!! That's when I decided to change my life. Here I am almost 10 months later and more than 80 lbs down and I've never been happier. Even though I still have a ways to go I know I'll get there someday!! You will too!!! Don't focus on the scale so much right now because you are in bandster hell. Just focus on changing your eating habits and "eating properly" with the band! You can do it!!!! -
Do you drink soda?
Libbyjane1976 replied to Sarah.R's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I drink diet pop almost on a regular basis. I make sure I sip it and it doesn't affect me any. -
lol. OMG disgusting. The sad thing is I can picture that happening to me one day. Nothing worse than getting stuck in those akward places. I went to Disney World last summer and we stayed at the Pop Century resort and the 1st day we arrived my lunch got stuck. I couldn't find the bathroom and unfortunately had to get sick right there at the table. That was pretty gross and I hope no one saw. lol.

Okay so I found out on Friday from my sister that my nephews ages 9 and 10 were talking smack about me. They told her that they didn't want me taking them trick or treating because we didn't go very far. Well I'm proud to say that I showed them!!! I walked their little butts so far they were begging me to take them back!!! lol. In between houses I power walked. Their bags were filled with candy. Ha!!! That will teach them to talk smack about their aunt!!! A year ago with the amount of walking we did I would've been tired and now today I wasn't even tired. I could've kept going.

Halloween Candy House of Horror

I take my nephews out trick or treating. That way I get some exercise in so in case I do have me a treat I can work it off! -
You Don't Know it....BUT.....we're all about to be great friends!!!
Libbyjane1976 replied to Neener's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really wasn't starving because what I did if I got hungry I ate. I always kept fresh fruit and veggies on hand in case I got hungry. Yea it's nice to finally be an active member of society. I used to hate any kind of exercise and now I LOVE it. It's sick. Taking walks, chasing my nephews around, and doing aerobics I love it all. I am so loving my life right now. Too bad it took me this long to do this. -
Wow that is awesome! Keep up the good work.

Way to take control!!! Good luck getting back on track. You can do it!!!

11 months later.....
Libbyjane1976 replied to creed2474's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Creed, You indicate a weakness for ice cream. Either try the weight watchers ice cream (comes in individual serving sizes) or buy their ice cream bars. That way when the craving hits you, you can enjoy your treat and it's not that bad for you!!! -
what else can i drink
Libbyjane1976 replied to SkinnyOompa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I thought band was different...........
Libbyjane1976 replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you get away from eating sweets you will be amazed how those cravings go away. Being a vegetarian is going to be quite a challenge for you but you can do it! Do you eat fish? I know some vegetarians who eat tuna and stuff like that. If so there you go eat a lot of fish! If not there are nuts out there and beans and stuff. Good luck!!! -
Sounds like it is your port. I like to refer to mine as my "tumor". lol.

I thought band was different...........
Libbyjane1976 replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band is merely a tool in helping you lose weight. Unfortunately it's not the magical cure all. Although we wish!!! The band does make it easier to control how much food you do put in your mouth it's up to you what it is you put into your mouth. My recommendation is get rid of any junk food (just don't buy it anymore). Replace it with fruits and veggies. Starting there helps to make those steps easier!! Good luck! -
Not losing weight - very frusterated
Libbyjane1976 replied to surfergirl4011's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey surfergirl I know what it's like being stuck in a rut. Only think I can think of is start journaling your daily diet (livestrong.com is pretty good) and take it from there. you may not be taking in enough calories or may be taking in too many. An occasional treat won't hurt you. Granted none of us want to make a habit of it but every once in a while it's okay. I just make sure I exercise a little more when I do give in. Good luck hope it turns around for you. I'm sure getting your next fill will help too. -

Smoking and the Bandit
Libbyjane1976 replied to illuminationlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay you can do it. Are there others who smoke in the house along with you? If so ban them from smoking in the house and around you. Can you go to your doctor and get that medicine that makes you get sick if you smoke? You are doing this for your health. This will make it much safer for you on your surgery day. You can do it!!! It is worth the sacrifice. It's worth it for your health!!!
