I'm so scared...
Libbyjane1976 replied to dreamer69's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to realize that you cannot stick to a liquid Protein diet forever and when you go off it you will gain the weight back. I have dieted for years and this is the first time i've lost more than 20 lbs and i'm still on the diet. You're not necessarily on a diet as you are eating healthier things and eat ALOT less. Go through with the surgery it will be your biggest regret not going through with it. -
I am only 17 years old and i have a BMI of 44
Libbyjane1976 replied to D.M.C.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My advice to you is to keep dieting, make sure you are being overseen by your physician for documentation purposes, contact your insurance company and find out what your benefits are and then when you turn 18 go and get the lapband. Good luck to you! -
Is it bad that I want him to be jealous?
Libbyjane1976 replied to keepingfaith08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep honey make him regret acting like an immature a**!!!! Hold yourself in high self esteem and find someone new who will appreciate who you are on the inside and not care about the outside. -
You may be eating too little. my body will do that if I keep my calorie content below 1000 and i won't budge on the scale but then i eat something a little fattier and the next day bam i'm down 2 lbs.

Why huge plateaus after banding??
Libbyjane1976 replied to MamaJava's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be patient you will get through it. Maybe try low - moderate exercising for a couple of weeks. you are probably just rapidly building up muscle. -
Lost weight but 1 year later gain it all back plus more- not me but my family. HELP
Libbyjane1976 replied to lapbandtalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just make sure you don't have junk food in the house, keep fruits and veggies on hand. Maybe start taking walks together in the evenings I know the weather is going to start getting nicer. Don't tell your 14 year old that she needs to lose weight because that will make her self conscious about her self and she's at that age where her self esteem is developing and believe me you can destroy that in a heartbeat. -
Started Mushies and stopped losing weight! help!
Libbyjane1976 replied to keepingfaith08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep just went through it. I didn't lose anything for a good month. I didn't gain anything either. Just keep doing what you're doing, watch what you eat and you will be back on track in about 4 weeks. -
I waited until 3 weeks afterwards to start working out again. I started working out at 2 days a week and I make sure I do at least 3 days a week.

We Need to Get Ourselves in Check...Me Included!
Libbyjane1976 replied to crystal525's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're absolutely right. Thanks for putting things into perspective. We did choose this surgery because we knew it would be healthier for us in the long run. The end result is the same as if you had gastric bypass surgery only we won't have as much saggy skin. -
When did the scale finally move for you?
Libbyjane1976 replied to stampergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went through this. Your weight loss will stall for a good month or so until your body gets used to being back on solid foods again. I finally lost 2 lbs 2 weeks ago and I'm getting back on track again. Don't give up. Just keep doing what you're doing your weight loss will pick up again. -
Do you use a scale at home???
Libbyjane1976 replied to addelapp5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a scale in my house that I weigh myself on once a week. I do it the same time each week that way I can keep track of my progress. I wouldn't get one for a couple of months. You'll be going to doctors so much that you can keep track of your progress with them. -
Lets see. I've never blogged before about anything but there's always a first. I'll start with the story of how I got fat. When I was a child we lived in the city and I had a bunch of friends I was always active, always outside playing with my friends. I also had to walk to school every day. I was thin. Then when I was 8 years old we moved out to the country. Well back then (24 years ago) it was still country). I didn't have any friends. It was hard for me to meet new people as i was very shy. I also didn't get outside to play as much. Since we lived so far out I didn't walk to school anymore. That's when I began to gain a bit of weight. I was about 10 to 20 pounds overweight from that time out. Fast forward to high school. In high school I weighed 150 lbs but felt so much fatter than the other girls. Even though I really wasn't. Because of this I became depressed. I spent my teenage years hiding away in my room sleeping every afternoon after school and not doing anything about the additional 20 lbs or so I was carrying. I did try to lose some weight but back then it was if you needed to lose weight you starved yourself. So I only ate once a day. Obviously not healthy at all. After high school I probably gained about 20 lbs a year. By the time I was 20 I weighed over 200 pounds. This is when I began to diet. I did dexatrim, doctors diets, I joined a program called Form You 3 which didn't work at all and I even went as far as to go on phen phen. Yea very dangerous and stupid of me! When I was 25 I weighed 270 pounds and still I did nothing about my weight even though my best friend was getting married and I had to stuff myself into a dress. At age 27 I finally decided to do something about my weight. I went to the doctor and went on phenmenterphine which is a diet pill. It worked and I lose 20 some lbs only to go off it 4 months later and regain the weight and then some 3 years later. That's when I did weight watchers. Again, same result. Only this time my weight ballooned to 290. This past summer I decided it was time to focus on me, get myself healthy. So this past January I got banded and have followed the rules and so far so good. I've lost 33 pounds and feel awesome about myself. I'm looking forward to my journey!

A question on after the lap Band Surgery
Libbyjane1976 replied to EmmaWang's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am totally for the lapband diet. Gastric bypass surgery is way too risky with the death rate involved. They are also cutting and rerouting things and that's not right. At least with lapband it's reversible if there are too many problems. My current weight before surgery was 313 lbs and I was a cookieholic, chocoholic, and a cakeaholic. I had to have some kind of sweet every day pretty much. My portions were also out of control. When I went on the Protein diet approximately 2 1/2 weeks before my surgery my family thought i'd never get through it. I got thru it, had the surgery done and now i'm back onto regular solid foods again and let me tell you the way I look at food now I am a completely different person. I do not crave sweets at all. I was a major chocoholic and I do not crave chocolate the way I used to. My family is even impressed with the way i've changed my life. I have lost 33 lbs so far. I even exercise 2-3 days a week!!! -
That is awesome! Congratulations!

I have BCBS MI PPo and I had the same concerns as you did. I was psycho with them. lol. But I'm happy to tell you that you only have to have the 6 months within 5 years. I had no problems getting it all covered. My hospital bill was paid within 3 weeks.

Question about dieting and blurred vision?
Libbyjane1976 replied to Merced's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You probably need to be on a 1500 or 1200 calorie diet. My regular doctor explained to me that because you are bigger you use up more calories when you move. Instead of a 1000 calorie diet try 1500 and see how that goes for you. -
I have carnation instant breakfast. I bring a gallon of skim milk to work every 2 weeks and a box of carnation instant breakfast and i make that first thing in the morning and it tides me over until lunch.

how many cc's for restriction 14cc
Libbyjane1976 replied to Alfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got my very first fill on March 5th. I got 4 cc's put in my 14 cc band and i noticed restriction the next day. I noticed I don't eat as much with dinner and my carnation instant breakfast that I drink at 8 a.m. holds me over until lunchtime at 12:30 p.m. Now that i'm back on track with my solid foods and my body has adjusted i'm losing 2 lbs a week. -
Once you make the transition from your mushy foods to solid foods again the hunger should go away especially if you are eating properly. Your weight loss will stall for a bit. Make sure you get lots of Protein. Then after the protein make sure you eat your veggies and then after veggies and protein add in the other stuff.
-
Your weight loss probably stalled because you're not getting enough calories. I was stalled for over 3 weeks while my body got used to being back on regular food again. then it stalled because i wasn't eating enough. I went and weighed myself last Sunday after I had a large calorie meal on Saturday and I was shocked to see I lost 2 lbs!

I didn't feel a thing and this is coming from a major needle phobe!!!

How soon can you eat after a fill?
Libbyjane1976 replied to littlefroggy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Umm I got a fill today and I ate 10 minutes after my fill. -
I just got my 1st fill today as well. i got 4 cc's. I feel the same way as you. Although I am being careful when I eat. I did feel fuller a little faster today though. I guess it's good that were not getting anything stuck and that were not having any trouble getting stuff down.
