How many changes???
Libbyjane1976 replied to YngGram's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay so you are completely back on solids now? what about steamed veggies. If you are on mushy foods try a creamy soup like broccoli cheese soup. That's pretty good and will help fill you up. what about pork tenderloin or something like that? or even better yet make a turkey breast in the crock pot until it's falling apart. that's really good and really good for you. -
Hey congrats on getting your band done! Glad you are doing good. Maybe you have really good meds? lol. I felt good I was just really sore and couldn't get comfortable. I wasn't in too much pain. The discomfort only lasted 3-4 days and I was back to normal.

First two months What did you lose?
Libbyjane1976 replied to daningje's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The whole purpose of getting the lapband surgery over the bariatric surgery is because you get a much slower weight loss. That way it's much healthier. It seems you are right on track. Since my surgery day on Jan. 28th I've lost 18 lbs so you are doing far better than me. -
having trouble feeling full
Libbyjane1976 replied to karendel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'd be exercising like crazy! Just make sure that what you are eating is healthy. At least if you're going to eat you may as well make sure you are not filling your body with crap foods. Also make sure to eat all your Proteins first that way it will help make you feel fuller for longer. Good luck! -
New n already messin up
Libbyjane1976 replied to SilverEyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Why are you still on liquids 8 weeks after your surgery? that's an awful long time to be on liquids. I was back on completely solid foods 1 month after my surgery. I really wouldn't worry that you ate some solid food. You should've been on solid foods for a while now! Don't beat yourself up over it! -

Hey Windy. Congrats to you on wanting to change your life. You can do it! -
"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!
Libbyjane1976 replied to Oblong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have amazing self control to be on pureed foods that long. I was supposed to be on them for 2 weeks and I only lasted 10 days. That sucks that you have to wait another month for your fill. Why couldn't the doctor just reschedule you after a week? Anyway, you will probably stall out on your weight loss just watch what you eat. Eat sensible. You'll do just fine! -
how should I handle this situation?
Libbyjane1976 replied to StephOnee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep I would let your manager deal with it especially if you don't want to confront her about it. Obviously this chick is ignorant if she's saying negative things about you. -
Rain w/ a chance of another fill
Libbyjane1976 replied to Makulafamy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The question is are you eating as much as you used it? My situation is pretty much the exact same as yours. I was banded 1/28 and had 4cc's put in on 3/5 too. I can still eat anything I want to but I notice I am not as hungry and I get filled up easier. It looks as though you are steadily losing which is great! I wouldn't wanna be too tight and end up getting sick and not being able to eat. Or worse PB. Sounds gross. -
scared!!!!!!!!

Do some research. You will see the death rate from getting the lapband is far less than getting gastric bypass. Lapband is one of the safest weight loss surgeries out there. That's why I chose it. It's done laproscopically so you will not be cut open. You will have 5 little openings where they go in. You are in and out of the hospital on the same day. I'm sorry you don't have family support but on the other hand I can understand since you lost a cousin to gastric bypass but just do some research and inform your family with facts and hopefully once they see everything goes ok for you they will support you more. Good luck! -
Instead of going every 6 weeks for a fill go every 3-4 weeks. Keep trying, don't give up and most important make sure you are exercising at least 3 days a week. Good luck!

Tell them you just had enough and you followed a diet and exercised or tell them you joined weight watchers.

Surgery w/head congestion??
Libbyjane1976 replied to smilan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have your doctor give you a good nose spray (nasonex is great) to get rid of your stuffy nose. You will feel like crap after your surgery and you don't need anything else to make you feel that way. -
Exercise. That's a new concept for me. I've never been active my entire adult life. Sure in high school I was involved in track and ran 5 days a week but that's it. Since then nothing. So I wanted about 4 weeks after my surgery to begin exercising. I don't have the money to go to a gym right now so I have to make due with what I have. I started my new adventure with home exercise aerobic tapes. The first couple of weeks it was hard. Getting my butt up off the couch sucked. But after a couple of times of doing it an amazing thing started happening, I started to get energy. For the first time in my life I have all this energy and I don't know what to do with it all. I am about 4 weeks into my adventures of working out and I workout about 1-4 days a week depending on my schedule. I feel great and everyday I'm finding new tapes that I really like. My favorites are the taebo basic workout (yes the old VHS tapes that came out like 10 years ago) followed up by Walking Away the Pounds the 1 mile. My other new favorite is Power90X the cardio workout step 1 & 2. I did that for the 1st time last night and it was awesome. You sweat alot but you feel great afterwards. Maybe I'll venture into taking nature walks next. Stay tuned!

Anyone else have a problem with feeling cold while losing weight?
Libbyjane1976 replied to Heatherooni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed that too. I was always cold before I had the surgery but now i'm even more so. Especially at night. I have to take a hot, hot bath every night before I go to bed because if not I'm too cold. -
It's from the gas they use to blow your insides up with to do your surgery laproscopically. Give yourself a week you will see the scale go down. Mine went up 10 lbs and it looked like I was pregnant from all the air in me.

Hey I found this article on People.com about a soap actress who had the lapband done. Just thought it would give us struggling bandsters some hope: Guiding Light's Caitlin VanZandt Drops 90 Lbs. - Bodywatch : People.com Libby
-
You're welcome. Yea I thought that was great of them too. People in Hollywood are grotesquely skinny and unhealthy. Instead of eating all they do is chain smoke. It's nice to see stars who are healthy and not worried that they aren't a size 0.

Wow that is awesome! I am 7 1/2 weeks post band and have only lost 34 lbs so far. That is awesome you are going to the gym 4 days a week and taking different classes. It takes guts to do what you are doing. I work out 2-3 days a week usually at home doing aerobic videos. I had my 1st fill about 5 weeks in and during that time period i only lost about 11 lbs. Keep up the good work and it will really help you once you are filled.

Had my surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work by Monday.

Dh Is Trying To Convince Me To Get Gastric Balloon...
Libbyjane1976 replied to kabeerah's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
You are not looking to get a quick fix to being overweight. With the lapband you steadily lose 1-2 lbs a week and in the long run you keep it off. With the balloon you are looking to only have it for 6 months so you lose 30 lbs big deal you will probably gain it back after it's removed. When you have the lapband put on nothing is cut (well except your stomach but in 4-5 little areas) and nothing is rerouted. -
3 weeks post op pain, hernia and lab band
Libbyjane1976 replied to north2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Umm no I was only off work 3 days for my surgery. I also had the band put in and a fairly large hiatal hernia repaired. It was done laproscopically. The area was tender for about a week but that's pretty much it. Yea definitely follow up with another doctor. -
Don't be afraid of the surgery. you are in and out of the hospital in the same day, yea you are in pain for a few days but it's worth it. Take it from me a complete needle phobe and doctor phobe. I did it and i'm losing weight and I'm glad I made the decision I did because I'm on my way to being healthy.
