    Haven't learned, not really

Good for you for taking control back! It gets so easy slipping back into our old habits.

Does Your Interest in Food Change?

Yes it does change. I'm not obsessed with food the way I was before and most of the time I can look away and not even think about eating that cookie. That's not to say I don't occasionally indulge but do I buy them anymore - no I don't. I'm at the point where I tell myself is it really worth getting fat over eating that? No it's not and I occupy myself with doing something else. I also do not crave sweets like I used to either. I prefer to eat fruits and veggies over junk food.

    despearate need of help!!!!

One thing i've had to learn is to take small portions otherwise I would end up clearing my plate because I couldn't waste food.

    PB, vomit or just pain?

Like you i've only pb'd twice since my surgery. Both were from chicken and not taking the time to chew it properly. When I get full I get that really uncomfortable feeling you're talking about. I also get that if I eat too fast.

    Fat stories

    1. Asking for the extended seat belt on an airplane. I finally got smart and asked for it the minute I got on the plane. That way I'm not embarassed when I can't get the belt on and have to ask in front of everyone. 2. Last time i went to 6 Flags in 2003 I had a hard time fitting on the rides. We went to go get on the Batman ride and I had to move to a different seat because the seat belt was longer. I am going to Florida this August and it'll be nice not asking for an extended seat belt and being able to fit ok on the rides.

    33 hoping to be banded

Hi welcome! I am 32 years old and I was banded 4 1/2 months ago and I'm down 53 lbs already. Hope your journey is a great one!

    Having a BAD day

Only thing I can tell you is focus all your energy into getting yourself healthy. He will regret not recriprocating your feelings one day and he's not worthy of you. Last summer I went through the same thing with a guy I was dating. He's not worthy of you! You will find someone who deserves you.

How to satisfy a sweet tooth?

For me it depends. If I am craving sweets I get a bowl of fruit and that satisfies me. But if I want ice cream I eat weight watchers ice cream bars. They are awesome. I don't really crave chocolate anymore. I used to crave it almost every day.

    Help!

Ugh! That sucks. Good luck with everything. I thank god my best friend postponed her wedding until next June. That gives me a whole year to hopefully lose 70 lbs. I thank god I won't be the chubbiest person in the wedding.

    Help!

My best friend is getting married in October. She just got engaged and wants to be married ASAP. She asked me to be her maid of honor. What would you do as far as the dress goes? Should I order my size now and then be prepared for some major alterations when it's time or do I order a size smaller and bank on me losing at least 30 lbs by then. I weigh 264 as of this morning (1 lb shy of 50 lbs total). We will probably get our dresses in July/August. So I guess by then I will be down about 15-20 lbs and by the wedding I should be down about 30 maybe 40 lbs if I keep losing 2 lbs a week. I tell you what it sure does feel nice being able to try on bridesmaid dresses at the bridal salon! I tried on a size 20 and it fit! I was ecstatic! Hopefully by the time we actually order the dresses I'll have to order an 18.
  11. That is so awesome. Congrats!!!
  12. lol. That was the most exciting thing i've probably done in 6 months. I'm the most boring person I know. What really sucks is since I don't want to gain any weight I get really picky about drinking alcohol. I think I had 3 sips of something and that was it. But I made sure I took a long walk. I walked out of the park and up the street to the corner and to the lake. It was probably about a 45 minute walk.

  13. Hi Carrie. Had a great weekend. Went camping up to Silver Lake State Park. My sister's friend has a raised Jeep Cherokee and we went bahaing on the sand dunes up there. It was so much fun! My weight loss has been stalling lately. I think it's because i'm building up muscle mass because i've been walking and biking more and more. Hopefully that stops and I see some weight come off!!! How are you doing? How's your weight loss going? Did you have a good weekend?

    Was anyone scared?

I was good until the morning of my surgery. Then I got really nervous. The reason I chose lapband is because it's done laproscopically and the rate of fatality on the table is extremely low. You'll be just fine!

When do you eat your last meal?

I usually eat dinner around 5:30 - 6 ish and it's usually protein and veggies. Sometimes bread but rarely. Sometimes I have an evening snack around 8ish.

Not Banded yet and hate exercise

Hey I'm not a big fan of exercise either. I do it only because i want to be healthy. I would recommend long walks. That way you get your exercise in and you don't really sweat alot (unless of course you are power walking or walking out in 95 degree weather). Good luck with your journey.

    Is it self doubt?

73 lbs is a lot of weight. Don't get down on yourself. I can only tell i've lost weight in my face and upper stomach. Otherwise I look in the mirror and see the same fat butt and thighs. Yet I know i've lost weight in those areas. Do you take any measurements? If not, have someone measure you once a month. That can be a small NSV for you. That way you may not see it but it will show up in your measurements the inches you've lost. Good luck!
  18. Congratulations! What an awesome feeling that is when someone pays you a compliment.

Losing weight and my partner..... :(

Sorry about your relationship coming to an end. If he can't deal with you getting yourself healthy and can't support that then good riddance. You will find the person you are meant to be with.

    Major NSV!

That is so awesome! Congratulations! I am very happy for you. What a major thing you've accomplished.
  21. Yea I had my very 1st PB episode last week. It wasn't pleasant. I've been paranoid about eating all week. It'll teach you to definitely slow down and chew your food better that's for sure. Well enjoy the day it's beautiful out today. Just wish it would get up into the 80s and stay there!!! Later.

  22. Good glad to hear you're doing good. You back on solid food now? You get your 1st fill yet? I got my 1st fill about 5 weeks after my procedure and it was only 4 cc's. Not much restriction but enough that I was eating smaller portions and not feeling hungry in between meals. I started walking at work. I walk on my morning break and during lunch for a total of 1 1/2 miles. I do this about 3 times a week sometimes 4 depending on the crazy Michigan weather. When I go to my brother's house I will go on a bike ride with the kids. My 5 year old nephew and I went on a 2 mile bike ride last Saturday. It actually felt great.

    Best Compliment

I was just going down to the cafeteria at work to get some more ice for my ice Water when this girl who works down the hallway (i've never even talked to her) stopped me and said I just wanted to tell you that you look really good. You've always been a pretty girl but you can really tell you've lost weight. I'm still speechless. It was so nice to hear a compliment like that from a complete stranger. What was your best compliment you've received so far?
  24. Libbyjane1976

    Best Compliment

Here's the latest one I got. Yesterday I posted 2 new pics on my facebook page from a wedding I attended a month ago and I got about 20 compliments on them from my friends & family. Wanna talk about feeling good about yourself.

    BMI too high for banding?

My BMI was 53 when I started. Now it's 44. I've been banded since January 28, 2009. Hope this gives you some confidence to continue on your journey!
