I giggle everytime she says it I don't have the heart to correct her - it's too cute. She also talks about her palms hurting when she falls off her bike but she calls them her "paws"

mini me, i don't know you but in the words of my 4 year old... "Hap-tee Bert-day"

My Sweet Baby (my 4 year old) says I'm "Bouncy" and she looooovvvveeees bouncy! *LOL* No ill intent, just a descriptive word that makes sense to her. I think people find their uppity bone when it comes to obesity because it's the general belief that you can "help" being fat. As in, that blind person didn't blind themselves, but that fat girl sure did eat her way to a size 26... I've never understood feeling superior to another. And I have worked sooo hard to teach my little one to accept people. I don't want her growing up thinking that she's better OR worse than anyone. Just to accept people as they are and embrace the fact that we're all different. ....can't we all just get along?????.... seriously I mean it.

Relationship Question: Full on communication to None
warmmorningsun replied to TexasRose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Texas Rose, I say go out with him again and let him pursue you from here on out, no exceptions. Maybe he was not wanting to cross a boundary? no telling. Just don't swoon over him - make him work for it a bit... -
Randi L - I still think you may be a little too tight (based on what you've stated so far - throwing up, etc.) You've been going through more than your fair share of setbacks with the infection. Please be gentle on yourself - you're not recovered from your surgery yet. Until your infection disappears and you start to feel better with that, you may be expecting too much of your body to also lose weight. I know it's frustrating, and I know when I got the band, I felt like it was going to be THE ANSWER. And it may still be. But it's going to take some time for our bodies to adjust to the foreign object in our body, the difference in intake, the change in what we eat, etc. I had two periods last month! *UGH* My body is still adjusting. Yours probably is too. Also, girl: throw away your scale. Just throw it away. I've read too many posts to know that our weight fluctuates on a daily and even weekly basis. We can't look at the micro (days) we have to look at the macro (months) when we look at weight loss. It's the only way Also, if you're not eating, your body will stop losing weight. Your body is a complicated machine that adjusts to what we put in. If you reduce what you put in, eventually your body will learn to function on that. I'm a firm believer in adjusting what you take in on a daily basis. 1000 calories one day, 1800 the next, etc. Think MACRO - instead of looking at what you take in during a day(MICRO), look at your weekly goal of calories and work towards that. Your body won't get used to a certain intake and it will 'keep it on it's toes' so to speak. The issues with your blood sugars sounds like you need a visit with your nutritionist to work out what type of food you take in. If you need more calories that might affect your blood sugar as well. Set your goal at #1 feeling better. #2 then will be losing weight. It can't be before you feel better, you need your strength back up before you can tackle losing more weight. :girl_hug:

Hey I want to add to this thread. My fiance has also been sooo supportive. He actually helped me pay for the surgery (I'm self pay). He doesn't push or ask questions about my weight loss until I'm ready to volunteer. When i tell him about losses, he hugs me and says "baby that is wonderful. I'm glad you're happy". When I tell him about gains he hugs me and says "It's okay, you're gonna make it." He's been amazingly understanding about the resistance to go out to eat (a favorite hobby of ours). On a different level all together, he loves me and my baby girl (well, she's 4 now, but still my baby girl nonetheless) in a way I never thought truly existed. God I love this man, and I thank God daily for putting him in my life! Sorry, I had to gush; he's all deserving!

Observations on Castro and Cuban-Americans
warmmorningsun replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in The Lounge
I came here this morning looking for the status quo on fills, etc. But instead I read a very interesting thread with passion! Wonderful I appreciate passion for anything. I'm registerd Independent, and vote per candidate, not by party. That makes me wishy washy or openminded, depending on how you look at it. But the point I want you to understand is that I am not affiliated with either the republican or democratic party.... Okay my first point is that I think it's wonderful that we can be in a place where we can publically express our opinions and disagree with other's opinions. I have absolutely no experience living anywhere else but the USA, so that right is something I take for granted at times. This morning I'm more appreciative of it than I have been after reading all of this thread. Secondly, I do think that vicarious experience or experience through reading, media, stories, etc. is less relavent than personal experience. Tired Old Man, it's likely that Elena and readytogo would have a hard time fathoming your views on our government. Their personal experiences in Cuba have lead them to appreciate our country on a level different from natives of the USA, because it offered more to them by way of freedom than they had experienced. And Elena and readytogo, it's likely that Tired Old Man for that same reason may have a hard time fathoming your views on Cuba. And while Elena M makes the point that Tired Old Man might consider leaving a country he doesn't respect, that is something easier for her to argue because she HAS left a country she didn't respect. However: Tired Old Man has a right to be "shameful, bitter, or hating" if that is how he feels, because the USA gives him that right. I think that two points should be made here: It's important that, although we could might not understand the walk someone else has taken in their own shoes, we should always strive to TRY to understand. And, two, I would hope that if there is something we disagree with as deeply as everyone on this thread has expressed, that we act to change it. To whatever extent that we can act. The one other thing to which I wanted to throw my two cents in is regarding the affect of personal stories on how we perceive history. My father and grandfather told me stories of how they grew up and those stories have affected my outlook on life in general. My father was a farmer and they used EVERYTHING and wasted nothing. He told me stories of why they did that; they had no money, used what they had. Made shoes from non-shoe-like materials, etc. I was raised hearing how important it is to not waste anything. Hence I am fat now because I ate everything on my plate! *common thread we all have - we're overweight*. I digress but my point is that my perceptions were at least somewhat formed by the stories and history my family have passed on to me. Is it possible that those too young to have experienced Castro and his regime may have a hatred for Castro and the regime because they grew up hearing about the horrors and hate him and his regime because of what it has done to their families? This point is specifically for Tired Old Man. Have you never formed an opinion or feeling because of what another person experienced? That is all Thanks for the lively conversation this morning. -

I kind of agree here; no telling what is going on in his life, so it may be harsh to say 'forget you'. But...you have put in the effort at this point, and he knows you're interested,so it's okay now to back away. -

How cool! Barbara, it's totally okay to boo hoo! We can change what we do, but it's really difficult to change how we feel. Don't define your problem as "not a real problem". It's real to you and it is important to you, so it's important. You're going to do great this week; it's a new start Take a deep breath and wade through it

Hey Barbara, I don't mean to belittle or minimize depression and frustration - God knows I have felt it! But I'm wondering if we can't look at today as a new start and do it collectively; God may smile on us and *poof* give us a few pounds down and a little indication that He's with us on this. It is such a challenge everyday - I think for everyone here. We all have different challenges: age, outlook, eating habits, discouragement, lack of support, self-sabatoge, apathy, addiction, money, etc. Some of us have it in multiples! So it's hard for everyone, almost everyday. WE are going to make it through. Every loss (however small or great it is) is a step to the other side. Go Junebies! (*shake shake shake* *RAH RAH RAH!*)

Randi L you're added! And I had to laugh at chins up Today let's let this day be the day that we have a fresh outlook; forget Monday's, Friday's are where it's at Fresh Friday! We start new with our water (or efforts towards it) We start new with a relaxing weekend We start new with breathing deep and enjoying the day (however stinking hot it is *sweltering*) We start new with that excitement we felt when we took this step for ourselves to give us a new start! Fresh Friday!

Whoo hoo! Finally! After almost 4 weeks of absolutely NOTHING to show in the weigh (pun intended) of weight loss, my scale finally moved -4 lbs! YES:clap2:

Randi, do you think maybe you might be too tight? I can't eat everything, but I can eat chicken and other solids with a lot of chewing. If you're not able to get solids down you may be too tight. Also, if your antibiotics don't kick in, make them put you iv antibiotics. It's a pain, but your infection will have a much better chance of going away and if you're not getting enough fluids in, they can hydrate you at the same time and your body may respond better to the drugs. Just offering unsolicited advice!

If you're close to BC (vancouver) there are several people here from that area. Good luck!
