Ladypitboss, can you tell me some about what's going on with your reason for going about the pelvic exam (if it's not too personal)? Ive been having pain in my lower right pelvic area and I've NEVER had gynecological issues before, so it seems weird. I was thinking appendix....your post stood out to me.

Depending on the med, some have a long 'life' and a short 'life'. The long life type take a while to get into your system and start to take effect, but the upside is that if you miss a dose, because of the length of efficacy, you don't normally feel bad. That's the type of medicine Lexapro is...it takes a few weeks to kick in, but you dont usually feel side effects from missing it. The short life type gets into your system immediately, and takes effect immediately; however, because it is short acting so to speak, it leaves your system quickly, and you feel 'withdrawals' if you don't take it on time or miss a dose. Hope this helps?

I hope things are better for you this morning! The band is fickle sometimes I think

Those who feel they have hit their sweet...

I think you're right; recommended intake should also take into account height and weight; so depending on our differing heights and weights, the recommendation could totally be different; good luck to all!

How is the LB when you are sick, flu, etc?

You beat Jerry! He was at 13 years and lost it because of the disharmony of the black and white cookie..... (seinfeld? If you didn't watch it, I apologize for a seemingly inane response...followed by the suggestion that you consider watching an episode or two...)

Biggest mistake you've made SINCE banding?

I would say the biggest mistake is thinking that m&m's in small doses would be okay...first, m&m's go through the band JUST FINE and small doses really are just the same doses I would have had pre-band. Second...duh, it's chocolate! (you'd think I would fear that????) So I'm trying the rationing process - eating 20 a day (I know, just step away from the bag....not easy or possible for me at this point!)

Those who feel they have hit their sweet...

by this definition I may be at the sweet spot (finally!) I'm protein shake or drink in the am; small snack in mid morning and mid afternoon (i mean small - 3 or 4 bites of something) soup with high amount of protein at lunch, and for dinner a little more than lunch (I'm looser in the evening). I take in about 1300 calories a day, but my md wants me taking in another 400 calories (he said my metabolism will really slow down if i don't bump my caloric intake a bit)....

did the pineapple juice work? i had never heard of that; the only thing that has helped me before with that 'partial blockage' feeling is hot tea. oh, and an unfill :nervous

I couldn't stand it either! I unfilled really quickly; I may not have perfect restriction now, but I don't feel like I"m full to my throat
  10. Hi sleepyjean  My heart goes out to you because I think I've been where you are and thought some of the same things you have written here. I don't know if I can help but I wanted to say a few things... First, this board is made to support each other and throw our issues out there, so there's no burden. It's why we all come here: ask for help when we need it and give it when we can. I also have experienced this; it's been great. I think it's because our restriction has been good up to this point and it's made it easier to accomplish. I look at 5am and think "Wow, that's requiring a lot of yourself...how realistic is it that you can maintain that pace?" I'm not a subscriber to the belief in pushing yourself to the limit. I've never been one to get any enjoyment from that, and have never felt impressed enough with myself to value achieving it.... We are all going to fail again. Failure to me is falling off the wagon, cheating, not being 'accountable', etc. If you fail at this, it doesn't mean that you have failed the entire effort. It means you start again. The difference between this time and the times before is that you have this amazing medical tool that will hopefully make it easier for you to see results than before. But if the results don't impress you, and you "fail" again, it's okay. Start again sweetie. I was told by my MD that your stomach shrinks as you lose weight; which means that 1cc may have been fine for you 70 lbs ago, but no longer will it do the same trick as before. YOu may need more restriction now. Whine and complain, it's what this board is for - to vent, get heard, ask for help, etc. Don't hate yourself because you need help. EVERYONE needs help. Some more or less than others, some in different ways, but we all need help. I guess my whole point to my post is that you have to be good to yourself girl. Give yourself a break. This band is not an answer for all of the things that make us imperfect. It's helping us to get healthy and to find some respect for ourselves. But the band alone isn't going to do that. If you lose all of your weight you will still have to work on how hard you treat yourself, your desire to do things on your own, and the unavoidable truth of failing when you expect perfection from yourself. Go to your doc, get a small fill and ease up little by little to good restriction again. Look at all that you have done: you made an amazing choice for yourself to live longer and enjoy that time; you've lost 70 lbs (70! that is amazing - would you think otherwise if anyone else told you they had lost 70?); you have asked for help (something that you might normally have a hard time asking for); you are successful and you're going to be successful.

Kind of funny! :bandit I never thought of it that way! I was thinking bags of rice :clap2: (of course it has to be about food...) Everyone has done so well. I wonder how much we've all collectively lost?

The pounds are falling! The pounds are falling! (think Chicken Little...) I think MAYBE I might have found the elusive sweet spot with this last fill (and unfill)

My Life, Hopes, and Dreams OVER!!!

do you have a tax refund coming up that you could use as a 'down payment'? sometimes a loan will get approved for a lesser amount or if you have a percentage to put down on the expense. i have been in horrible financial straits before and i did a few things that helped: I sold things like crazy on ebay. clothes especially (fat girl clothes sell well!) I clipped and sold coupons (believe it or not people out there will buy multiples) I worked at night (didn't have a little one at the time) I cut grass for people (damn near killed me, but I made some money) I saved change and cashed it for savings. don't give up; set a small goal first: $500. then more and more. don't give up!

whew, what a relief! I got .5 out of the 1.0 they gave me yesterday and I feel like a new woman. I do have more restriction, but it's soooo much better. Point and Click to me would be really cool - IF it's in the hand of the MD or PA/NP. otherwise, it would be no different to me than being able to cheat on a diet when I want.

Well, it's official, I am definitely too tight. I couldn't even get down broth. It's coming back up. Even if it IS temporary and it gets better, I can't imagine that the residual restriction will be okay; so tomorrow morning, I'm going to see if they can take half out. The first three fills I got was .5, I think we just got a weeeee bit agressive with 1.0. So I'll see if .5 works. The good thing is that I don't pay for fills, it's incorporated in the expense of physician fees, so if I need to go again, I can. Thank God!

I have 2.5 in a 4.0 band as of today; until today, I've had 1.5.

I'm going to give it until Thursday around this time. That way if I wake up Thursday and it's still feeling like this, I can try to get in either Thursday or Friday. Liquids are going down EXTREMELY slow. But I'm also at that TOM and I swell some during that time so I decided to 'wait and see'.

I kind of feel like I'm tight by my throat. Not choking...just....like I'm full all the way up to my throat. I think maybe I have too much....how long did you keep that fill that was too tight? (the early one) Never mind, I read your signature (sorry, I'm a bit slow). I'm going to give it a few days and see what happens. Just feels a bit weird.

When you took that big jump in cc's, (when they added 1.3 for you) how did it 'feel'? Did it feel tight? I'm really having a hard time judging.

I too just came back from a fill with probably the very opposite: I was at 1.5 and was filled to 2.5! I'm wondering if I'm now TOO filled? What does it feel like to be TOO filled? I'm kind of debating whether I'll be able to get my pill down in the morning

It's 42 grams of protein per 4 oz serving. It's not cheap! But it's an easy way to get in protein if you have a tight day, etc. I'm most excited because it seems to have helped me to move the scale (I guess with the added protein). It's hard renting and dealing with family and friends! I know Hopefully things will work out and they will do what is needed on your condo! I haven't really noticed a difference with tightness with stress, but that may be because I'm not paying close enough attention.

    Nectar Protein drinks???

I saw this post and decided to give it a try..42g of protein seems like a pretty good motive! I ordered the fruit punch, and mixed it with a can of sprite zero and it's like drinking cherry 7 up! It is actually no protein taste. I also ordered several packets of the nectar samples. I tried roadside lemonade yesterday in diet tea and it was just gross. But I'm going to try the others in the sprite zero. Some people's docs say no carbonation, but mine said okay as long as it's not more than one a day and as long as it's not sugared.

hi everyone, happy Sunday morning. I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend.... I've found something to use for supplemental protein I wanted to share...it's called New Whey 42g Liquid Protein by IDS. It's about 4 oz and it's fruit punch. It's in a 'test tube' per serving, so that's a little off-putting. But I mix it with a can of sprite zero and it's like drinking cherry 7 up! Just wanted to share.
