God forbid, the only way I can join you is if my wedding gets cancelled So, count me in for 2nd annual

Also, I was doing some reading and found this interesting..it's geared towards those 7-12 months out (that be we...) Stallers What happened? Do you feel as if the wheels fell off your car while you were cruising the freeway? One minute you’re losing 10 pounds a week and suddenly you haven’t lost a single pound in an entire month! Relax… welcome to what everyone calls a ‘plateau’. After dropping a large amount of weight your body is trying to preserve it's comfortable blanket of fat and is doing what it can to stop the massive weight loss. This is where all the old self doubt creeps in, and we jump to the conclusion that we are going to be the only one who doesn’t lose weight with this surgery. Don’t worry, if you keep on track, getting in plenty of protein, keeping your carb count low, and drinking copious amounts of water to flush your body, you will continue to lose, albeit in smaller but still steady amounts over the next months. Every little bit adds to your total and gets you closer to goal. My surgeon makes it clear that the first hundred pounds is his job, but the rest is up to us. Now is where that plan for high protein, low carbs, and vitamins comes into play. You were supposed to initiate a change in your relationship with food during the last phase, but you can regroup now and pick up the pace. Calculate your protein needs; you need roughly a little more than half a gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight. A woman who should weight about 145 pounds needs about 83 grams of protein a day to maintain good health. (The actual calculation is 'Ideal Weight' ÷ 2.2 × 1.25grams of protein = Protein Needs). If you can’t physically eat this much protein, which would entail eating 10-12 ounces of chicken, fish, eggs or cheese a day, you will need to find protein supplements that you like in order to give yourself that protein boost. If you go for months without adequate protein you will get very tired, have little energy and experience extended hair loss. Stick to your plan and the weight will slowly start to come off again and you will begin to feel strong and very much in control. Now is also a great time to start moving around and getting some exercise if you didn’t bother while you were losing quickly and it all seemed a bit too easy. Your body can move more freely after dropping such a large amount of weight, and getting your metabolism up and running will increase your weight loss and make you even stronger. <FORM action=http://order.store.yahoo.net/cgi-bin/wg-order?bariatriceating+stallers method=post>bariatriceating.com</FORM>

Pinky -it's easy to get down sometimes; early memories for me is the amazement of buttoning pants I couldn't even get over my hips before! and pride in getting all my protein in :myscared: so i'm going to try to find the small wins this week besides keeping my exercise challenge.
-
Pinky lee, I am not meaning to pick on you...I admire how far you've come on your journey, so I wanted to be your cheerleader this morning. You are going to get to the end of this!
-
Hello early birds :myscared: I need to attack the closet too...I've been making things work because I have a great deal more to lose and don't want to "redo" my closet every 20 lbs. I've also had a lot altered, which helped. Okay, I"m going to be the negative self-talk police this morning! "No wonder I can't lose weight" - Pinkylee, change that to "This is why I haven't lost weight". You can lose it, this is an instant of bad choices for you, it doens't mean a lifetime of bad choices. And "At this rate I'll be another year to get to goal" needs to totally get ditched! Positive talk...."I've really lost a lot of weight" and "I might be finished with this forever in only one year after years of being overweight". Pinkylee, you've done so well girl! I'm sorry to be such a cheerleader today but I hope you can look at yourself through kind eyes, not critical ones :Banane32: Love you guys! Junebies rock :Banane32:

cindy - i had to tell my family that i love they want to support me and what i need them to do is to watch my girl so i can walk, and to mention when it looks like i lost weight. I also said it hurts, doesn't help when you monitor what i eat - the band wasn't an insta fix for me, so i still deal w/food addiction, issues, etc. that did it. i guess everyone's family is different, but this worked w/mine. barbara - i have the shoe issue too! my feet have shrunk; so weird! i'm still on my exercise tract only, for the upcoming week too. i'm going to commit to new habits slowly.... happy day junebies
-
Melissa - go girl! how awesome! look how far you have come. super accomplishment! Pinkylee - allergies definitely had me pb'ing this week; I finally broke down and refilled my allegra and it really has helped. my challenge this week was exercise: so far so good! i've been walking, 3 miles 3 times a week; I think instead of adding another, i'm going to do one more week of that challenge. Junebies, we really can do this; i think we're getting to the recommitment stage because our bodies are adjusting to weight loss, changes in eating again, etc. I call it "recalibrating ..."

okay guys, we're losing it! :scared: Let's start simple. Choose one goal. Drink Water, exercise, no sweets, no carbs, etc. And let's make it for a short time: 5 days. Let's go 5 days and then start over. The only thing that has helped me with weight loss at ANY time, not just with the band, is to do this in small chunks ("chunks" being the operative word...heh) I'm going to go 5 days straight exercising. That's it. Then after that 5 days I"m going to add in another small goal: water. Let's just do it slow. And: this is the biggie: no more weighing! Forget the damn scale. It's frustrating. It's discouraging. It's not always accurate. It fluctuates. So....no weighing, except for once a week. friday mornings for me. We're all getting discouraged, and weighing doesn't help. neither does beating ourselves up. Let's just set something small and go from there.

hey, has anyone out there had problems with being tight and swelling related to allergies and sinus issues? i can barely eat anything today and have pb'd twice. so to liquids I go, but i've not ever had this happen.

Will I have to give up these favorite foods?
warmmorningsun replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My two cents: cottage cheese w/ raspberries & splenda Yummy and no problem Wasa crackers (high fiber whole grain) with crunchy Jif peanut butter Not a chance: the crackers tend to "ball up" on me. Coffee w/ cream Absolutely no problem Iced Raspberry tea w/ lemon (decaf) no prob here either Caesar salad w/ grilled chicken For some reason, salad is hard on me unless it's the "white" part of romaine. chicken is okay but in very small amounts. chew chew chew. steak see chicken: chew chew chew asparagus This has been fine for me as long as it's canned; fresh is hard to digest fresh green beans no problems at all broccoli cooked only for me raw is a bit hard to digest squash see broccoli corn bread oh my God no. Any bread for me is extremely difficult and headed for a PB corn tortillas see cornbread apples no problems bananas very small amount. i fill fast on this oranges See bananas all berries no problems, grapes See berries cheddar cheese Cheese is great nuts (almonds, pecans, peanuts) I can eat nuts chinese food w/ veggies and chicken nothing breaded or pasta. veggies and chicken okay. chew, etc. -
Ah, I'm just a big mouth tonight.... let's do one thing before we all go to sleep tonight: look at the first number you started at. and look at where you are now. We're going to do this guys, we really will.

One other thing that I 'feel' or think when it comes to the band: when we're unfilled, it's highly likely we'll gain some weight because we've been eating so much less until that point. So those who are unfilled: take heart: you're not gaining because you're horrible, a cheater, a failure, etc. You're gaining because your body is adjusting to a higher caloric intake. You are not a failure! Your body is adjusting, and it will adjust again. Think LOOOOOONG Term
-
I'm doing okay; I think the biggest thing that has worked for me with this band is not being hard on myself when I screw up (see: ice cream, cookies, m&m's, etc.) and looking at this as a long term journey. So: I've lost 46lbs. Never before would I have been able to do that. And do it without giving up EVERYTHING in the world. So yes, I've only lost 46 where others may have lost 106. But I've had m&m's in small doses when I like. To me, it's been kind of a nice trade off. And poodles...don't slap 'em, love 'em  We'll be there soon too

3.9cc's in 4cc band. restriction fading
warmmorningsun replied to foodstampchamp's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
marys - it almost sounds like you were too tight and now that you are at proper restriction your body is adjusting to eating differently. just my impression... to OP - i think as we lose weight our stomach gets a bit smaller as well, which may be a part of you losing restriction? -
Lisa - that does seem a bit ironic and funny that the gastric bypass patient would state "why would you want that thing in you forever" when....her choice is forever I was told that the band could be removed, either by choice or necessity. But my doctor also said that unless you have mastered your control over emotional eating, etc., removing the band would likely result in regaining weight. He said that the stomach does return to it's original shape, capacity, etc. The reason I chose the band is varied, but the biggest seller for me was that it wasn't permanent and was removable in case of necessity. However - my assumption is this thing is here for life I will update the weight total loss with your 62 lbs, I thought it said something different. Sorry! Just noticed
-

bump bump...anyone have these symptoms? -
Well, I didn't make Valentine's Day goal, but I did finally FINALLY see the 50's! YAY. I didn't think I'd ever see anything lower than 260, it seems like I've been stuck on that number for ever. This morning it was 259.2! Whoo hoo! So I'm "claiming" it (not sure who started that phrase, but I like it) I have an idea....let's think positive, and let's post our total weight loss on the next few posts and see what we've all done WELL  I've lost 45.8!
-
not making mine either; i'm stuck at 261. of course, 261 is better than 305, which is where i started, so i should smile and be valentine-y

Cookie, I hope maybe someone here has that lightbulb! The feeling you're describing is what it feels like when I eat too fast or don't chew something properly... I wanted to bump this in case someone else out there has that lightbulb... -

Cookie, first I'm sorry you're going through this! Banding definitely isn't the cure-all, and I think we've all been through times where we fell off the bandwagon. It seems to me like your health in this case should be your primary concern. If you're able to keep it down without problems, try the yogurt and soup for the rest of the week and see if that 'cures' things. If by Friday you're still hurting, having same symptoms, make an appt with your doctor. Tell them over the phone that you are concerned about the financial implications and see if they have a way to work that out with insurance (they may be able to do an upper GI or something under the basis of trying to find out what is causing your symptoms). Is the issue getting off of work because you have to make up the work? You could go in on a weekend day. Or is it another issue?
