I still don't know how to adjust my ticker!
-
Mine is in the middle too, an inch or 2 above my navel.
-

I don't own any scales but I'll have to buy some. I think that's how I became obese in the first place.....denial.....because I didn't weigh myself I didn't know how big I had become. I saw a TV programme the other night about a woman who had emergency surgery, when she arrived at the hospital they asked her how much she weighed....she replied she hadn't weighed herself in a couple of years but she thought she was around 300-350lbs....the nurse looked at her and said "I think we'd better weigh you". She was too heavy for the regular scales so they had to bring up scales from the basement......she weighed 586lbs.....talk about denial.

I'm also 3 weeks out and on Mushies. My dietician and doc have given me instructions to eat 1/2 cup of soft food every 2 1/2 hours.......although I do feel as though I could easily eat twice that amount. I can't wait to get a fill and finally feel some restriction!

I LOVE clothes shopping in the USA. In Australia I am a size 20 yet in the US I am a size 16-18. I have noticed clothes in the US are MUCH more generous than here and in Europe.

Liquid diet: Losing slooooowly and freaking out quickly!
jojo41 replied to KelliW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Kelliw.....don't worry too much. I was banded on 17th July and on the 22nd July I was actually 4 lbs heavier!!!....I couldn't believe it beacause I had followed the doctors instructions to the last letter. I then decided I wouldn't weigh myself until I went for my 2 week post op visit to the doctor and lo and behold when he weighed me I had lost 16lbs since surgery. -
Welcome cris35....I was banded 17th July also......and can't believe it's already been 2 weeks and I'm on MUSHIES!:clap2:

Home same day or overnight in hospital?
jojo41 replied to GE Mom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was an overnighter and very glad I was because I was in so much pain during the first night that the nurse gave me morphine at 2am to help me sleep. -

One day left of fluids and then I'm on to MUSHIES!:clap2: For all those people just starting on fluids believe me it gets MUCH easier ......I never thought I would last 2 weeks with only slimfast, water and broth but here it is 13 days later and I actually feel great. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't give my right arm for a piece of pizza right now though..

To be able to cross my legs.

I also think at 41yrs that as I loose weight I will start to look older. I had my surgery a week ago. Whilst I was in hospital 3 nurses came in to change my dressings before I was discharged. We were having a laugh about my scars and I told them the scars didn't bother me because they match my C-Section scar. One of the nurses asked me how old my baby was when I told her 15yrs they couldn't believe it......they all thought I was in my late 20's! I suppose ageing facially is going to be a trade off for getting a younger looking body.

It looks like us July Bandsters are all doing extremely well. I have just finished my first week of liquids and have one more week to go.....I am soooo looking forward to MUSHIES! Good luck to everyone Jo

That didn't make sense did it! I meant to write that it feels particularly "tight" up under my breasts and how long does it take for the swollen/bloated tummy to go down??
-
I was banded on the 17th July and today I feel great. The only thing I can really complain about is my swollen tummy from the surgery, particularly up under my hlong did it take for the swollen/bloated tummy to go down???

I had my surgery 3 days ago and the analgesic medication prescibed by thew doctor is in a capsule form....I've had no problems swallowing them.

I also went to a nutritionist who ran an electrical current through my body (it didn't hurt) and from that she calculated what my bones, organs, fat and lean muscle mass were. She explained that I should have 25% fat and 75% muscle, bone and organs etc. I have a high lean muscle mass so my target weight is higher than most people my height. Im 5ft7in and target weight is 190lbs. At first I thought this was way too high because before I became obese I was 160lbs. The nutritionist explained that since I have been carrying around this extra weight for the last 8 years I have built up alot of lean muscle (apparently carrying this extra weight is like weight training 24/7) so in order to have 25% fat and 75% muscle, bone & organs 190lbs is perfect for me.

Hi everyone.....I'm finally in bandland!!:clap2: Everything went really well. I must be one of the lucky ones because I have very little pain and no gas. I have been doing quite a bit of walking around and perhaps this has helped. My biggest problem now is 2 weeks on optifast...yuck! Good Luck to everyone.....cheers Jo:)

My story is similar to a couple of others. Growing up I thought I was fat but looking back on it.... I definitely wasn't. When I was married at 24yrs I was 5ft7in and 140lbs , I gave up smoking, had 2 children, was diagnosed with PCOS and now at 41 I'm 276lbs. I had tried every diet you could think of when one day I was reading the local paper and saw an advertisemnet for WLS in particular the lapband. I was not covered by insurance so I rang a health insurance company who told me if I took out insurance that day it would be a 12 months wait until I was covered. That was on 16th July 2005......and my surgery date is 17th July 2006....can't wait :clap2: "Just" Paul......I have given it some serious thought and I think Kathy Najimy or Ricky Lake should play me.

Kiana.....you poor, poor thing. I'm complaining about having to do 2 weeks fluids post op! I agree with everyone one else...."winge" all you want, goodness knows I would.

Count me in too .......July 17th....only 4 days to go!
