I was banded on the 22nd also and am not feeling horrible. I haven't needed the pain meds they prescribed but I did have a question to put out there. I had a bad fall last year and injured my spine pretty bad and haven't been walking much over the last year (most of it was in a wheelchair or on a walker). I am finding that just walking 5 minutes outside every day is extremely painful to my back. Any suggestions? Thanks...Katie -

i had my surgery 2 days ago on the 22nd. i am sore but not needing any of the meds they prescribed. walking is a chore b/c of a spinal injury last year but i still walk as much as i can each day. i am finding that i am not wanting to eat or drink anything, like i am paranoid about everything now. i miss my dr. peppers and real food and find myself wanting to sleep alot. i have lost 4 pounds in 48 hrs. katie -
i was just banded yesterday and last night i had a good cry over the end of my relationship with dr pepper and cheeseburgers. i didn't have to do a pre-op diet so i feel some withdrawal right now but i am hoping that in time it will pass and i will replace those bad habits with good ones. good luck on your journey! katie

i am 24 hrs post op and am feeling just minimal discomfort. my best friend was with me and 5 hrs after surgery, i was walking in the grocery store b/c i had forgotten something on my shopping list. i went to wal-mart today and bought a scale and am down 1 pound. it hurts to breathe deeply but i went in with some bronchial issues. they gave me vicodin but i haven't taken it. i took a tylenol last night for a headache. i seem to be paranoid about what i eat. i have been eating Jello and Soup and Water but i don't know if the first week i just need to eat when i feel hungry or eat according to a schedule. also, can anyone tell me how to make the little ticker thing at the bottom of the screen? thx! katie

I feel as if it will never arrive...the accumulation of a lifetime of emotional and stress eating, bad habits, addictions and now...at 42....a do-over. I am being banded at 10:30 Wednesday the 22nd. I quit smoking 11 weeks ago cold turkey ending a 24 yr on again off again love hate relationship with tobacco. I have gained a few pounds in the past couple of months and after a nasty round of bronchitis in February, I still have this lingering nagging cough...I worry about this. Has anyone else gone into the surgery with respiratory or coughing issues? My surgery was originally slated for the 15th but I found an abscessed tooth and had to have emergency oral surgery on the 14th and they had to push the lapband off. I am afraid...elated..and excited to know that in about a year....should all go well...I will see my 8th grade body for the first time in 30 years...God help us....please remember me on this journey... Katie

Hi, I am very new to this forum and have not had the surgury but I had a question about excercise. I had a fairly bad fall last February where I shattered my kneecap and broke my leg in 2 places but the real problem was my back, the impact forced my thighbone into my hip and twisted the sacrum to the left hard and as a result i cannot stand longer than a moment or two without severe pain and i cannot walk on a treadmill or do a stationary bike per drs. orders and have to use a walker unless I am in a grocery store and can hold onto a buggy. My weight has been steadily climbing (on top of being obese before) since last February and I wonder how all of this will affect me if I do the surgury. The only safe option I have is to be in a pool and I don't know if that is enough excercise to corrolate with the surgury. Can anyone advise me on how this goes? Thank you Katie
