What does GOOD Restriction feel like?
bella5425 replied to hopeful41411's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i can't usually eat in the morning - i have a glass of milk and that satisfies me for hours. i have only had 1 fill since i was banded april 22nd and have lost about 60 pounds. if i eat a regular meal i find myself satisfied for like 7-8 hours. -
Anyone else NOT have to be on preop diet?
bella5425 replied to kimber1701's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i didn't do a pre-op diet but like a lot of other people had to follow a strict post op diet - liquids for 7 days, mushie for 7 days then regular foods. i was banded april 22nd and have lost about 60 pounds since then. i would recommend if you haven't had surgery, drink a TON of water prior to surgery to fatten up your veins - i hated water before banding and they could hardly find any veins for the iv and had to stick me near my wrist - good luck to those waiting for their surgery! -
What do you eat in a typical day?
bella5425 replied to gbakerc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was banded april 22nd and finally had my first fill 2 weeks ago and am at my sweet spot. a typical day for me is a glass of ff milk for breakfast (sometimes i have cottage cheese instead for the protein) lunch is seafood salad or tuna salad and dinner is tilapia and steamed vegs. my serving size is very very small - for lunch, literally 4 or 5 bites and im done which is less than 1/2 cup. dinner is a 2 oz tilapia filet and less than 1/2 cup of vegs. i don't really snack but if i do it's a bite of fruit or a few quaker mini rice snacks. i have lost a little over 60 pounds and feel great! -
Hint for drinking soda..
bella5425 replied to CantB2noty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was banded april 22nd and i was a serious dr pepper addict - none of that diet mess for me - the real deal. anyway, i drank about 12 cans a day and i drank up until the night of surgery - i didn't have to do a pre-op diet - haven't touched one since although if i am w/ a friend and they have a soda i smell it and that is enough - i was missing it for the first month but now i don't miss it at all - am down 60 pounds since surgery and feel great w/out all that garbage in my body -
What does GOOD Restriction feel like?
bella5425 replied to hopeful41411's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have great restriction - i was banded april 22nd - had to have an unfill in early june, even tho i hadn't had a fill by then just what was put in at the surgery, finally got a fill 2 weeks ago. i have lost over 60 pounds - my dr said it was just on willpower since there was hardly anything in the band and now i am satisfied literally with 3-4 bites of food for hours. and in the morning i just have a glass of milk and it covers me for a long time. katie -
i have had several nsv's since i got banded on 4/22 - i inherited my grandmother's diamond dinner ring and i couldn't barely get it on my pinky (she had tiny fingers) and now it fits not only on the ring finger, it fits on the ring finger of my right hand which is my dominant hand and bigger than my left. i also put on a pair of jeans today that used to not go over my thighs and they are baggy. i have lost 62 pounds since my surgery, 4 clothing sizes, 2 bra sizes, a ring size and 2 shoe sizes. i got taken off my blood pressure and other meds and am feeling really amazing! katie

congratulations! that's wonderful news! my surgery was april 22nd and i have lost 60 pounds and finally left 3dom! keep up the great work! katie

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!
bella5425 replied to JuneAct2's topic in Fitness & Exercise
i can relate to your pain. i also wear a custom brace. i shattered my left knee last yr and i still have severe arthritis and it keeps popping in and out on me. i do water aerobics classes at my gym 3 x per week which really helps. i have lost close to 40 pounds since my surgery 8 weeks ago. i hope you feel better. take care katie -
Hi everybody I am at 283 from 280 but I am not stressing about it. I had a rough 10 days just prior to this week where I was on mostly liquids and very little food and lost 16.6 pounds over those 10 days so now, after an unfill, I am eating real food again and have gained a few back :confused: trying to stay on track - going to workout in the morning. Love to the group! Kate

i am spending less since i don't do fast food at all and if i do a nice restaraunt i always have leftovers but my gro. bills are higher due to fresh foods. kate -
just an update - i went in this morning and he took out some fluid, he wouldn't tell me how much b/c he says he doesn't want me obsessing over amounts but i had some broth not too long ago and the pain in my chest is out! yay! my total weight loss over the past 10 days is 16 pounds and he said i was okay to go to the gym so i am heading in at 6 for a water aerobics class...thank you for the concern...chicken...it's the devil, at least for me :grouphug: love to all kate

he said he put in a tiny amt at the surgery but he has decided to remove some tomorrow morning. i am right now eating about 400 calories a day - i can get milk down and very very little food, like a bite or two of flaky fish and maybe a bite of cottage cheese for the day. that's it. i don't know whats going on

i am not complaining but i am down 11 pounds this week for a total of 32 since surgery 6 weeks ago. he won't fill me, for some reason i have hit my sweet spot altho i think i am eating too little. i take tiny bites and chew like 30 times and i am finding it hard to get down 1/4 c. of food total for a meal. don't know whats going on.

April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?
bella5425 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi everybody here's my info 1. WEIGHT- i have lost 32 pounds since my surgery 6 weeks ago 2. FILLS- i went today for my first fill but he chose not to fill me 3. RESTRICTION- i had no restriction after the surgery, like week 2 and then after i started a Water aerobics class at week 4 the band seemed to tighten and it takes about 6 hrs before i am hungry between meals 4. RULES- having a very hard time with the no liquids during meals, sometimes i want/need a sip of water - trying very hard to break that habit 5. ANYTHING ELSE- learned the hard way in vegas over the weekend that chicken is not my friend. 2 bites of baked chicken got stuck and i felt it for over 24 hrs. everything else is good - i don't miss my dr peppers anymore and have mad energy and a new boyfriend which is a plus love to the group kate -
my first fill appt was today but he didn't do one. i have lost 32 pounds since my surgery 6 weeks ago and 11 of those have been in the past 7 days. i had zero restriction after the surgery but when i started working out at the gym, it seemed to have tightened things up and now i have great restriction. kate
-
1980, i can totally feel your pain. i was a self pay and just knew i had blown this major investment b/c my love of food was so much stronger. i had my surgery on april 22nd and am scheduled for my first fill on friday. i am hoping he doesn't fill me, i am eating very little...had zero restriction in the beginning, then i started a Water aerobics class and boom! major restriction, i have lost nearly 30 pounds since then so i hope he leaves me alone for now. keep the faith...rely on this community, you will move beyond that plateau for sure kate

What rules were you given for the lifetime diet?
bella5425 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
~~~~~~~~~~~ i was told by my surgeon that it did 2 things that were bad for you, drinking liquids with food forces the food further into the pouch making it possible for the band to slip and 2nd that the food doesn't get a chance to digest properly and you get hungry faster. i am allowed to drink right up until i eat but have to wait 90 mins after :redface: it's a hard habit to break. katie -
i was banded april 22nd and actually felt like i had no restriction. i started a Water aerobics class about a week ago and now i have massive restriction. i ate a few bites of chicken today, chewed very thoroughly, very small bites and now i feel like i have been punched hard in the stomach. it hurts to breathe and to walk and to lay down. has anyone experienced this before? i emailed my dr and he said he just thinks it stuck and will pass but it hurts to even drink water. how can i deal with the pain? katie
I am hydrated well, eating the right amount of protein daily and ate a couple of hrs prior to excercising. This literally was the first real movement I have had in 16 months. Most of last year was in a hospital, then a nursing home to learn how to walk again, then wheelchair, crutches and walker for almost all of last year. I am motivated to work out but I just didn't know where this pain was from. I can tell in my legs after the eliptical...that burn...but after water aerobics this was gut wrenching abdominable pain but then again...it was a really intense workout. My one dr. told me to just be careful b/c my muscles were atrophied from all that last year. Thanks for writing, I will remember to just take it slow. I didn't get this way overnight that's for sure. Slow and steady does win the race Katie
I am hoping someone can answer a question about excercise. I just worked out for the first time in 16 months (following a bad injury) and I did 7 mins on an eliptical machine and 1 hr of an intense water aerobics class and I am having intense stomach pain. Please tell me that's just excercise and will get better b/c I am scared to go back to my water aerobics class tonite. Happy Memorial Day! Katie
