Hi , I got banded 3-4 and will get my first fill 4-3 can you tell me how it went. also I am having so much pain around my port area and in the back I started to take pain meds again, it feels like my muscles are being torn apart. Does anyone else have this experience. Please help. I started eating solid foods at my 2 1/2 mark and hope I didn't do any damage. My Dr. didn't seem too concerned

Hi, I saw the fill nurse yesterday and she said the pain I was having could have been from my cycle coming on. I feel great now. I was nervous when I saw that 4 in. needle that they have to use to fill the port. no problem. It was a breeze, did not feel anything but the little prick from the anesthsia needle. I am on liquids for 48 hours. I just ate some tomatoe soup with a few crackers that I let get really soft, and I don't feel much restriction that I hear about. PB ing. She put in 5cc, shelley

I had surg. on 3-4 and also started my cycle one day later. on the second week I really started getting left back pain and near the port deep inside. I had it (getting worse everyday) for about 2 weeks or so. It was ok when I layed down but I had to go to work and I took 800 mg. of Advil .daily. It felt like my port and stomache band were being torn apart. Finally I had a heavy cycle and the pain totally went away.Today I feel great. I see my Dr. on Fri. for my first fill and I will definatly talk to him about this. Hopfully it wont happen every month. Hope this helps you. I was going crazy thinking I did something wrong and destroid the band. Good luck.

I just wanted to post what happened to me, I had surg. 3 weeks ago and for the past 2 weeks I have been getting sharp pain on my left side also. so bad that I started taking pain meds. again, I would ask everyone in my support group and post here but nobody seemed to have the same thing. it felt like my muscles were being torn if I bend over. Well I started my menestral cycle today and all the pain is gone. I think by all the swelling that goes on THAT time of month must have been pulling on the tubing from port to band, That is the only answer I came up with. I will see my Dr. on Friday for my first fill. The nurse thought I strained my muscle. Wait till I share this with them. Shelley

teachergirl- do you still have pain when you bend over. I was banded 3-4 and two weeks ago started to have a lot of pain when I bend. My nurse thinks I strained a muscle. I hope thats all I did. and that it feels better soon.

Heather- My nurse said if no redness or fever not to worry about infection, I don't have either, just sharp pain if I stand too long. which is everyday at work, I can not bend over to pick anything up off the floor. and hard to tie my shoes. It feels like my muscles are being torn.

I am 2 1/2 week out and started having alot of pain in my left side and back area. feels like a kidney problem, dull ache when I walk, sit, or stand. I feel great when I am lying down. I saw my Dr. and he said the band is attached near the back so he was not concerned. HAS ANYONE experienced that pain and how long will it last? Also I have not lost any weight in 6 days and am falling off the wagon alittle. I feel hungry and have eaten out twice. I have no restriction and can't wait until I get my first fill.

I just started a pain in my back on the left side. dull ache. It started in week two and still have it 4 days later. Hurts when I stand and sit. lying is fine. is this like yours, I was banded 3-4

Hi All, I was banded on 3-4 and have been eating blended food since day 4 post op. I know I should be on clear liq. but seems impossible for me. If I could stay on clears then I wouldn't of had to have a band. Has anyone else been eating this soon after surg.??? I have lost a total of 18lbs since pre op but nothing in the last 5 days.

A lady in my support group had the gas abdomonal pain so bad that the Dr. gave her a muscle relaxer that took the pain away in one day. And she was able to release the gas all day long. (if you know what I mean)

My Dr. says 2 weeks liq. then 3 weeks pureed. After day 4 I have been eating pureed foods. I am glad to see so many of your Dr.s are saying you can eat full foods. I was hoping I wasn't damaging anything. But too many of you can eat right away. I hope I am right. I can not do the liquids, I feel too weak at work. I just had surg. on 3-4, and I feel real good. just alittle tired and sore at the port.

right before surgery when I saw my nurse, who was assisting in the surgery I asked if she could really push to get alot of the gas out of my belly when they were done with the surgery. She said that was one of her jobs and she would do it. I had no shoulder pain. It never hurts to ask.

Hi all, Today is day 6 after surg. and I ate some spaggetti o's. that i chewed real good. but now I am so bloated and I know I am not getting enough water down. Any one else with this problem?

I didn't say he allowed it. LOL but I go to a suport group and everyone in the group had a little something to eat and they all survived. I am being real careful and blended very well

I also was banded 3-4-09. I finally ate some chili that I blended up. and it went down real good. I felt like I was starving on day 3. That really stopped some of the growling in my belly. But I have been having gas and the sqirts. Has anybody else been experienceing this? Each day has been getting better with the diarrea.

good luck to all March melters!. I just had surg. 3-4-09 and will be back to work tomorrow. It goes fast. mostly sore by the port. The belly band has helped a lot.

Hi Gabi, I was banded 3-4-09. And today (day 4 )I feel pretty good. I will be going back to work tomorrow. I had to eat some blended chili today, I thought I was straving. It went down real good and I felt satisfied. I bought one of those maternity bands that holds the tummy more firm which helps alot also. Hope some of this helps you. take care,

Hi Critical, I was banded 4 days ago and am feeling pretty good. I will be going to work tomorrow. I had a hard time with the pre op liq. diet I have to admit I ate some string cheese and an occasional salad.with grilled chicken, just kept it small portions. And things were still fine. I am also 5'4 and 210. alot like you are. I go to a support group where I can get all kinds of realistic answers. Not always the ones the Dr.'s want to tell you. I am suppose to be on clear liq. for 4 more weeks. Well it has only been 4 days and I was starving. So after talking to the support group I found out they all ate something. I had chili in my "magic blender" and it was so satisfing. Another thing I bought today is one of those belly bands that help hold you up while carring a baby, I think you are male, but so what it helps where the port is. good luck.

Hi everyone, I had my surg. on 3-4-09. It was easier then I had anticipated. I was told to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 AM. But then I found out I was not scheduled until 3:30. So that was a drag. After surg. I had to drink one ouce water cups every 10 min. until I got down 50 oz. about every 3 hours I walked alittle. I only need to take liq. tylenol for the discomfort by my port. Other then that no problems. I am so happy. And good luck on you banders coming up soon. Oh yea. I know I feel nausea after anesthetics, so they gave me a patch and nausea meds to help prevent that. Dont be afraid to ask for anything. I told the anestesiologist I was nervous and before I knew it he gave me something in my IV and I was out. I sleeped most of the day after my surg. and to day I am sore mostly near my port. I plan to go back to work on Mon. just 3 days away.

Hi all, I just had my EGD (camera down the throat) and everything went fine. I was really nervous for nothing. I did come home and sleep another 4 hours. Now I am ready to start drinking again. Only day 2 on clear liquids and I can't wait until I can eat pureed foods.

Hi, I too just started the liquid diet today. So far so good. 9 more days to go on the liquid and 3-4 is my surgery day. I can't wait. I just bought the magic bullet blender today. I heard that is an excellent tool. Good luck to you!.

Hey Hal I am right with you. My surg. date is 3-4-09. I am having thoughts about if I can even make it through the 10 clear liquid diet befor surg. good luck to you!
