LOL....I like the "3rd person" comment! Congrats.....stick with it Carol

I'm with you Carol.....I share the exact same attitude. I have been going through pure hell with this band at times.....and nothing is consistent except not being able to eat in the morning. I know I do better when I eat very slow too....but sometimes I just plain forget! But........I'll put up with it as long as it takes the weight off and keeps it off. I can eat pretty good at times so I will do my best to get proper nutrition...but if I'm going to have to continue with the mealtimes when I can't get anything down then so be it! I'd rather the weight be gone! Carol

Thank you very much everyone for your responses. I do have a problem in the a.m. with swelling around my fingers and ankles...always have had this problem.....there does seem to be some logic in your Dr's theory on this one. Now I have another problem....I just can't figure out this band. I could barely get down a cup of tea yesterday morning around 8. Then, at 2:30 I ate an entire toasted sandwich with a bit of swiss cheese and pastrami on it.....the last few bites were a struggle, maybe I shouldn't have pushed it but I did eat the entire sandwich. Then, last night at 8 I sat down to a nice small plate with one strip of smoked salmon, 1/4 of a pickled egg, 2 halves of an artichoke heart, and a few very small pieces of cold chicken. This is the exact same dinner I had the night before and had no problem with it but last night I coudn't get past the second mouthful before experiencing a pain in my chest and then throwing up the entire lot.....I tried once more and the same thing happened....both times a huge burp came with the food. I just can't figure this out? Carol

I too can eat a full sandwich, at times and only when the bread is very toasted. The amount I can eat and what I can eat is very erratic. I can't eat in the a.m. at all......not until at least 3 p.m. Then, sometimes I can eat a full sandwich, yet other times I can't eat much at all. I have 8 cc's in a 10 cc band and most of the time I feel like I have reached maximum restriction but then it scares me when I read that some of you can only eat 4 bites of your meal or only 1/2 of a sandwich. Brooklyn...this is a thread to let your feelings be known about the passing of Steve Irwin.....start another thread for yourself on the issue you want to rant about. We'd appreciate that. Thank you very much for your cooperation. Carol
-
Brooklynn: give it a rest already. We are all so tired of this and yet it continues....now, you even find fit to invade a thread for your own self serviant, self absorbed issue! Is this, or is it not a thread to discuss the passing of Steve Irwin?.....what part of this thread title did you not understand? So, we couldn't even come to this thread without having to re-visit this same old crap. Carol

I was banded June 8th. I tried steak for the first time last night and couldn't get past the first bite. I chewed the heck out of it but it just didn't work. Lost the first bite and everything else I ate with it, tried one more just to be sure and the same thing happened. So far I have had no problem with very thinly sliced red meat like deli meat, bread that was very toasted, Pasta, eggs, some cheese, most veg....no broccoli or cauliflower, salad is okay well chewed. Still experimenting but until I get my next fill I'm actually afraid to eat. With some meals I feel full very quickly, with others I feel like I could continue to eat maybe 3 times the portion I should be.....I have been watching the scale move downwards for months now and afraid of disturbing that. I have my 4th and hopefully last fill this coming Thurs and I think that will help me finally reach maximum restriction. Carol
-
Heather: No need to apologize....I think you did a fabulous job! Poop happens sometimes....so, the file got lost.....but don't despair....you organized this and for the most part it worked out great! I appreciate your efforts, for sure. Carol

LOL......excuse me Donna....but firstly, I have not followed all this crap because I don't care about it.....so I didn't not know that this thread was, once again, on this ridiculous topic and I resent the fact that you spoke so certainly about it that you knew what I was thinking....I thought it might have been a repeat of something that maybe Funny was going through and wanted to bring it back for further discusion. And secondly, not once did I infer in my message that you did not have the right to voice your opinion.......but I most certainly indicated that enough is enough on something that should be allowed to die a very quick death already. I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....no need to respond because I won't be here to read it. Carol
-
Please let me know when you people are going to finally be over this. I would like to know when I can come back and safely open a thread and it WON'T be about this topic because WHO CARES???????????????? Carol

LOL.....Tony Little is annoying...happy to hear that its neither you or your wife on the Gazelle. It is the same as mine but without the hydraulic tension pumps. I agree....without the pumps it really doesn't do much except get your body moving. Have your wife try it by leaning forward, and then leaning backward......both ways targets different muscle groups that have to work a little bit harder to manipulate the machine. Hope this helps. Hello Fellow Canadians: Great to know that civil chat does exist here......and not a lot of time need be wasted reading loads of repetitive crap. So far, can anyone manage to eat sashimi with full restriction? Hubby and I haven't had a day off since May and will be spending a few days in Toronto next week....I love sushi and sashimi but not sure if I will be able to manage it. Carol
-
I have the Tony Little Gazelle glider.....not sure if that is the same thing. I put it in my lady's fitness centre and they love it. I don't think it burns the calories too quickly unless you have the one with the tension pumps (mine does) that can be in use or not. We find that the ladies would rather not use the tension pumps so that they have more endurance. We all have felt after affects in the back of the thighs and calves, and the glutes but not much benefit from the arm action except the arm action helps to keep your heart rate up which helps keep you in a fat burning zone. Sorry, sick and tired of this dead horse so won't respond to it and will be going off topic for a minute.....excuse me for a moment..... Someone mentioned Ron White, my husband and I are huge fans and we are going to see him on the 15th at Massey Hall in Toronto, happy to hear that he puts on a good show. Carol

Green: I moved to Mississauga in the 70's but my family remained in the Beaches house until my Mom passed away a few years ago......so, even though I was living in Miss I was still in the Beaches a lot. I had to make a move in that direction because I am a CA by profession and at that time the downtown core was saturated...no employment available. New industrial development was going up in the west end and the employment was abundant. Then, a few years later I landed the Finance Director position with the Alzheimer Association of Ontario on the corner of Bay and Bloor and was there for years. I started my own accounting practice in the late 80's and even though my office was in my home I was still travelling to the downtown area several times a week to visit clients. I really loved Mississauga but pined for the beaches all the time since it carried a lot of memories for me. My husband and I were not strangers to Fenelon Falls when we relocated, his family has cottage property on Balsam lake and it has been in his Father's family since his Dad was a small boy. Before Alan was born his Dad acquired it through an inheritance and its because of visiting the cottage that we know Fenelon Falls so well. Alan is a professional Chef and has always worked in the restaurant industry for establishments such as the Banff Springs Hotel, The Four Seasons Calgary, Auberge du Pommier in Toronto, Inn on The Park.....and more. When he saw this building in Fenelon up for sale he immediately got ideas about his own restaurant. I had my hay day with my business so since he thought he could make a go of this place I went with it. Its kinda like our stepping stone to retiring up here to the cottage property. The transition to living up here was very easy. I found out quickly the meaning of relax. Even though our businesses are very busy, when you do get the opportunity to relax, you do......everyone has the same attitude and make no demands on your private time. Small town politics is a bit tougher, but I'm adjusting. Good luck with your surgery, I had no problems at all. It was even easier than I thought and I had a very quick recovery. Carol

Hi Green: We have a few things in common. I'm born and raised in Toronto.....beaches area. Ended up in Mississauga and then in 99 moved up to Fenelon Falls where my husband and I opened a fine dining restaurant. I too never learned how to drive because I never had to worry about it.....living in TO and always working downtown I used the transit system...even if I did drive I never would have taken a vehicle downtown. I was banded at the TLBC on June 8th of this year, I will be there next Thursday as well getting my 4th, and hopefully last fill. Carol

How long did you keep your stitches covered?
Woodys replied to ginger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had mine on for about two weeks too.....I think they fell off earlier than that though in the shower and everything was just fine. I was sure to keep the areas clean and keep clean clothes on until I could see that they had healed over for sure. Carol -
I did the pre-op for 2 weeks, however, because of my size I only had to for 1 week....it was my choice to do the 2. So, you still have time. My pre-op instructions were lowfat cottage cheese and yogurt, sugar free Jello, and the odd clear Fluid only. I had the last meal cravings every minute of every day but I toughed it out. My surgeon made it perfectly clear that the more fat I reduced around the liver area the easier the surgery would be.....I would presume that he meant safer too. So, I think if you fast for the next few days you'd only be helping yourself.....isn't that what this entire experience is anyhow!....helping yourself? Good Luck Carol

Rant and Rave at a Lap band forum....I would expect it to be rant and rave about lap band experiences!!!!!!!!....should it not! Why can't you people duke it out somewhere else

Cripes.....my life is good, fulfilling, and busy with two businesses...but I am recently banded and need to visit this forum when I can squeeze it in, to share in necessary lapband info and experiences. So.....I find myself very quickly browsing through 2/3rds crap posted by you people. Where the hell do you find the time to read and post all this stuff? All this stuff that I view as utter time wasting crap and nonsense. And who the hell cares about all this crap.....and how many times will I have to read that this "Lisabones" person is leaving....as if I care anyhow.....Sh**...shut up about all this stuff already....it is so f****** tiresome and boring now that its like reading the same boring newspaper everyday.....grow up people, c'mon....enough is enough already. Well, if this is the best you can do to fill your time and if this kind of behaviour is what floats your boat then so be it, maybe all of you should go back to high school, or better yet grade school....where this kind of behaviour is more or less expected. I shall not be wasting any more of my time, not in the near future anyhow, visiting such an inmature selfserving ego driven site! Moderators.....get rid of the crap once and for all or all of your prime members will be gone, then you might as well call this the "Bitch and Back Biting" forum. Carol

Geesh....who the f*** cares! Can we get back to lapband business now. Carol

3loves....making us happy? for me its the constant decline on the scale. For once in my life I see success that I know will stay. I was always very good at losing and lost all my excess weight at least twice in the past 7 years.....but could never maintain. (some of you already know this) My husband and I own and operate a fine dining restaurant, we live in the same building and this has been a huge obstacle for me. www.woodysrestaurant.ca , my husband is a professional chef, he cooks "clean" for me but I'm still around the food he cooks for customers 24/7....this is so hard for me. So, to see the scale constantly move downwards and know that it will stay that way has put me on cloud 9. I also want a full body lift but I will have to self pay so I think I will save for the tummy tuck first, then I need to have the "gobbler" under my chin removed. For 54 (almost 55) my face doesn't show too many other aging marks so I'd really like to have all the loose skin under my chin removed. Does anyone else have the problem of a "gobbler" under their chin? Carol

I will leave the high school antics to children. Congrats on your success. I see that you have a date for your TT. Where are you having it done, and if you don't mind me asking.....how much? Carol
