good morning!!!!! i hope everyone had a happy holiday weekend!!!!!!! last week there was a thread on here..."did i make the right choice?"...it was basically a disscussion from a member wondering if she should've had the bypass...which kind of turned into a band vs. bypass vs. sleeve kind of discussion...lol...there was a post from a group member that basically said the band teaches you how to eat healthier and exercise...let me start out by saying i wanted the band up until i attended my 1st seminar...when i heard how much faster weight loss was with the bypass...i started to have 2nd thoughts and was leaning on bypass surgery...i met with my surgeon and he felt the band would be better for me...i'm not putting bypass patients down in anyway and i know there r plenty of success stories out there...BUT and here it comes...lol...what i have been noticing from going to my surgeons office and 9 out of 10 of my moms friends have had the bypass...is a long-term failure rate...they lose weight so fast...without having to really change bad eating habits...yes they have to eat way less and then there is the whole dumping thing...but the weight still seems to melt off them...without too much change in their overall eating and exercising habits...it seems like after they hit their plateau...they put the weight back on...i know that there are no guarantees with any surgery or diet plan that you wont gain ur weight back...but when u work hard to achieve something...i think there is a higher chance u will stick with it.....i have learned about calories...what fats i can burn...exercise...i have learned what i need to do for LIFE to keep my weight off...and i'm perfectly fine with what i know needs to b done...the bypass seems like a quick easy fix...(not 4 all...dont jump down my throat bypass patients...lol)...but not one that last....i think if ur 400-500 pounds its the way to go for health reasons...but those of us that need to take 100-200 pounds off learn how to do it in a healthier and long-term way....does anyone know the long -term stastics ...of both surgeries??????

do you ever get tired of people/co-workers telling you ...your thin enuff...stop losing...all the comments negative and positive....i didnt tell a lot of my co-workers i was having weight loss surgery...i work 4 a huge company and didnt feel the need to go around and tell some 500 employees that i was having weight loss surgery....it amazes me how many people at work want 2 discuss my weight with me....its like u didnt want to discuss my weight when i was over-weight...y now????????i swear sometimes i feel like a circus freak...then i love my co-workers that do not have a weight issue...that tell me how to tone up...what to eat...how to exercise...that i'm too thin...thats enuff...its like who asked you????? thanks for all the tips...but aaaa i think i have it under control....when i'm seeking advice i come on here to get it from people who r walking in my shoes...or i call my dr....as far as being to thin...i havent hit my goal...until then leave me alone!!!!!!!!!!!! lol....thanks for letting me have me bitching session....lol:cursing:

Looking for Dr. In Los Angeles
2Flyguys replied to Perfect10in 2010's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i used dr. mark paya in west hills...if ur looking for a surgeon that wants his patients to be sucessful and healthy he is the one!!!!!!!!! i cant say enough good things about dr. paya...he isnt going to sugar coat weight loss and baby u...he is going to support YOU doing it...he will congradulate ur success' and let u know straight up when your doing something wrong...if u tell him ur eating mc donalds and not losing weight..he is going to tell u ur not going to lose weight eating mcdonalds...his 1st words to me at my consultation were "are you ready for this"???? before he even went over the procedure and details he will make sure you are ready....he was crystal clear that the bad is just a tool...it wont stop u from eating ice cream it wont pull u off the couch and make u exercise...its a tool...the rest is up 2 u... -

i'd have to agree with wasabubblebutt...i have a friend that just had wls and is always crying the blues about her surgeon and the fact that she is not losing weight...while she is snacking on french fries....uuummmm hello!!!!!!!! no 1 has held my hand through this journey...i've had to hold my own...if anything u r probably enabling her more than ur helping her....her will to lose weight has to b stronger than any surgeon...boyfriend or support group...it doesnt sound like she is ready or even wants to lose weight...my surgeon is awesome...but he is just that "a surgeon"...he doesnt lose it 4 me -
i'm just full of threads today...lol...has anyone changed their goal weight...i set my goal at 160....right now i'm at 180 size 12...i have days where i'm like this is enuff...but lately my frame of mind has been...let ur body take u to where it wants to go...if it takes me to 150 and i'm healthy so b it...i just want to keep going and going...but i do want to stay healthy...and then of course theres that plateau...i could hit anyday now...so far i've been hiding from it...u can run but u cant hide...lol:tongue::sad:

i know my results arent typical...but ive lost 116 pounds in 6 months with the band...which is probably what i would've lost with the bypass...u can lose just as much weight just as fast...banded as u can with the bypass

band inches vs. conventional diet inches
2Flyguys posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
do u think there is something about losing weight with the band that takes off more inches...then say if u lost the same amount of weight on jenny craig...weight watchers...etc....etc...i took b4 pictures in the hospital...but i did not take my measurements...which i totally regret not doing... -
do u think there is something about the way u lose weight with the band that takes off a lot of inches...rather then losing weight with a conventional diet
