I had a LapBand placed in May 2009. I was fairly successful with it for five years. Lost approximately 70 pounds (never got to goal weight) and was comfortable. Last year, I developed the inability to keep food down, had to resort to sleeping sitting up and have gained 40 pounds in six months. This weight gain is on top of a slow creep up from my lowest weight of 165. I began seeing my new bariatric surgeon and was advised to revise to bypass. I dodged the idea because I was so set against doing it when I had the band placed years ago. Since I have become so miserable I have decided to move forward with the revision. Once I made that decision, I was approved in two days and am waiting on my pre-op appointment. My surgery date is July 13th.
