Hi Patty, I wanted to see how you were doing? Did you have slippage on your band? I am so sorry I have not written, it seems like the days are flying by. I am doing ok but have hit a big stand still. I found outthat chips and dip go through the band quite well and with all the cookouts we go to I have had a struggle. I am down about 31 lbs but it is so frustrating. I need to get back on track. Please let me know how you are. You have been in my prayers. Kara

Hi Summertime! Congratulations 42lbs is great! I am down 25 lbs. I am struggling to find my sweet spot and having trouble getting food stuck. I have had it happen several times where I PB and throw up for a few hours. Hopefully I will find the sweet spot soon. Keep up the good work!

Hi Julie, The reason you may not feel anything now is that they can't get all the air out of the band during surgery. There is a little bit left. When they do your first fill the saline displaces that small amount of air and you may not feel like you had a fill in 7-10 days. That is what my doctor said to me. I am at the same point and have my second fill scheduled for April 7th. Hope this helps. Kara

Hi Sharon, I feel exactly like you do. French Fries and bread get stuck so bad. I also feel like my upper stomach is stretched. I got my first fill on March 9th. I felt great nad was doing well for about 10 days and then that full feeling left me. I seem to be able to eat so much more. The doctor said that this may happne and I have another appointment for a fill on April 7th. I hope that everyone is doing well. Slow on my end but I am still down.

Hi Everyone, Has anyone gotten something stuck and thrown up? I had this happen Sunday night. My fault, I was a the neighbors for dinner and did not chew my meat properly. My concern is that I hurt something with the band. It hurt so badly in my esophogus for about 30 minutes. I am going to mention it to the doctor, but curious if anyone else had this happen to them?

Hang in there Sharon. It has been tough on my end also. You are not alone. Please reach out when you need support/help.

Happy one month to eveyrone also. That did fly by. Congrats on the fill Colorado. You are doing great! I have my first fill on the 9th. I started exercising on Saturday. I have been doing the elliptical for 30 mins every day. It seems to be fine. No crunches yet. Keep up the good work everyone!

Hope, I am getting my first fill on March 9th also. I wanted to thank everyone for sharing their fill experiences. I am not nervous at all. I hope everyone is doing well. I am holding steady (no gain/loss) but it is difficult as I do not feel any restriction. Have a great evening! Kara

Hi Everyone, Happy Valentines Day! It sounds like you are all doing well. I have a question for you all. I had chicken tonight and meatloaf last night. I had about 4oz each time and did not feel full. Are any of you having the saem issue, I see that some of you said that you have not been feeling restriction. My doctor won't give me a fill for three more weeks and I am trying to not think about stretching out my stomach too much or the band slipping. I am so nervous about stretching out my stomach. I am also trying to stay positive. I have only taken off 1.5 lbs since the surgery. It is a total of 12 lbs but it is taking so long. I am not unrealistic but it seems so slow. Thanks again for all of you. Reading all of your posts adn having your support has been invaluable. Thanks!

Sharon, Hang in there. I am struggling with the weight loss also. I only lost .5 lbs this week and it is frustrating when you have changed your eating habits so much. I spoke with my Dr today. They said for the first 6 weeks focus on healing and eating soft foods. Make sure that you get your Protein in and watch the carbs. They said once we get a fill we will feel the restriction. If the constipation gets really bad try Milk of Magnesia. The doctor recommended that to me and it worked. Good luck this week!

Summer, I am not feeling any restriction either. I spoke with my Dr's office today. They said that I should focus on my stomach healing fo rthe first 6 weeks. These weeks are going to be the toughest but they sadi to get plenty of protein, keep the carbs low and drink lots of water. I won't have a fill until week 6. Hang in there and stay stron. I also log my food in thedailyplate. It helps.

Hi Heather, I did not have a bun. I ate my sons hot dog that he did not want and he is not a bun kind of kid I have not tried to get any bread down but from what I have been hearing bread is difficult to get down. Kara

Julie, I got that pain earlier today. I felt like I could not breathe. I had to take a couple of sips of water to help get the food through. It was awful. I ate some tuna and I must not have chewed it properly.
-
Amy, I am feeling the same way. I ate an entire hotdog tonight. It was not the end of the world to have that but I was surprised I did not feel any restruction. I did chew the heck out of it. Hang in there! I can't wait until my first fill also.

Trock and Julie, Hang in there. I had a bump in the road today also. There was a jar of hot fudge in the fridge, and I dug right in and had a HEAPING spoon full. After it settled I did not feel very good. The main thing for me is that I came upstairs and got on this board before I had more spoon fulls. I would have lied to myself in the past, like Julie mentioned, that it was not much. This time I did realize that it was a HUGE spoonful. When I logged in and saw othes had a hard day and it seemed to let me know that I am ok. We all have hard times and it helps to have people who understand. No more fudge for me. I threw it out. I need to tell my husband and kids that we just can not keep it in the house. they are very supportive and I know that there will not be a problem. I hope that eveyone has a great day tomorrow and that we all feel good and eat clean.

Hi Tyson, I am having the same trouble with the Protein shakes. The doctor told me to get benefiber. he said not to get any pills but the stuff that dissolves in Water. The pills will expand in your stomach and stretch it. I have been trying that but it ihas only been two days. I am hungry because of the shakes also. I need to progress to more mushy food.

Hi Everyone, I was banded on Janaury 23rd, but I have been messaging with Hope and Julie and they suggested that I join your group to follow our progress. Would that be ok? I read your postings and they are so helpful! I hope you all don't mind a new friend? Thanks, Kara
-
Hi Hope, Thnaks so much for the reply. I have been doing ok but I am struggling. I feel a bit weak and am trying to balance my intake which is mostly liquids right now. I did mash up some chili which was good. The people and posts on this site are really helping me. I feel like my progress has slowed down a bit but I am not eating much. I think I just have to get used to things. How are you doing?
-
Sharon hang in there. My work does the same thing and they are always bringing in food for certain events. I actually run the group that pays for most of it. Sweets are my trigger. We had a Super Bowl party at my house and there is a tub of hot fudge that is killing me. I asked my husband last night to get rid of it. I went and got Cookies and cream Protein powerd and had a thick shake with a mashed up banana in it. I wanted to thank everyone on this post for all the support. It is hard being around so many people and so many social activities that revolve around food. All your comments are really helping me.

I love the people in Dr Pinnar's office! Good luck at school with following the program. Looking forward to hearing from you. -
Thanks Colorado Girl! My back hurt also today. I have a desk job also. My doctor advised some stretches to my quads to losen my back. Try lying on your back with your legs up against a wall. If you losenyour quads it helps your back.

Hi Guys, I just got banded by Dr Pinnar on January 23rd. I would love to join a support group in the area. I live in Reston. -
Hi Everyone, I had my surgery on January 23rd also. I am so happy to have found you all. I wish I found you sooner. Last week was rough for me also but this week is a bit better. I went back to work today. I also had my first postop visit. They said I am healing well and added me to the mushies. One thinkg they suggested that I do is puree chili. We had some from a super bowl party yesterday and it was delicious. All I have eaten for the past two weeks has been Protein shakes and corn and roasted red pepper soup from trader Joe's. I have lost 10 lbs so far. I wish you all the best with this and I am looking forward to sharing with you all during this journey.
