Hi all! Sorry it's been so long. I have been holding steady at about 25 lbs and waiting for a fill. I had my first on 3/10/09. I am a little worried because I don't feel much restriction even though he put in 5cc's...anyone else not feeling much?

Hi everyone! Well, I'm down 2 more pounds, still having a little trouble remembering to eat slow enough- have had a couple of instances of food feeling stuck, but then it went down. My first fill is 3/10...I'm so excited!

Thank you Craig! This is my info according to that chart: Your ideal weight range-- 148 - 162.8 lbs. (67.3 - 74 kg.). --is based on a formula that calculates what a healthy weight is for most people of your height (67 inches) and frame size (Medium). So, I am going to change my goal to 160, and then, hopefully I will get there or close, and see if I need to change it again.

hmmm...trock I agree about the charts...but I have no idea what to put on my ticker as a goal weight. I put 150, but to be honest, I don't recall weighing 150 in my adult life...I am 5'7", does anyone have any ideas? I'd like to have a goal, but I certainly dont want it to be unrealistic...

Another pound down, 22 total! I will admit that I have had a couple of things that would not be considered excellent choices, but I definately am eating smaller amounts of everything, even without the restriction (perhaps there is still swelling?) It was a nice Valentine's present, I am starting to think that I can really do this. My family has been very supportive and it was nice to see the carefully picked out flowers and heart keychain that they got me rather than the usual large box of candy (I am a self-admitted chocoholic). Chin's Up all!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!! Hope, I've never heard of the port flipping...is that something they said to be careful of regarding sleeping? Does anyone have a good Ideal Body Weight Cahrt they could share? All of the ones I have found are different, and I have put my goal weight as 150 (I am 5'7-1/4" tall and a medium frame). Now I'm wondering if that is ok...

Weighed in...down 2 more pounds!

I definately feel less restriction as the weeks go on. I have about 3 times felt that chest-constricting uncomfortableness from eating too fast or too much...I am vehemently trying to avoid that. I have backed off of the solids that caused these and moved back toward softer foods. I keep having these fears....that I have slipped the band from these episodes, that the fill wont work, that I will somehow manage to mess this up, that I will regret having the band over the bypass. I know some of this is irrational, but the anxiety is still there. I went to the Dr. on Wednesday. He said everything seemed good, and would like me to start exercising. I have not yet, but plan to dust off the exercise bike this weekend and make it a daily thing. He also says I should be getting 50g of protein a day, which I worry I sometimes am not. I know I did today, for protein I had a carnation instant breakfast (5) with 1 cup skim milk (8), 1/2 can tuna with light mayo for lunch and 1/2 for dinner (37.5) so that was 50.5. I just have to keep track...what are some other really high protein things that you all have been eating (I was so surprised to see the amount of protein and tuna, which is good because I love it). I am going to weigh in tomorrow...hopefully I have surpassed that 19 lb plateau, or at least not gained anything... Chins Up everyone!

Mine is good thank you! I have lost 19 lbs, then was plateaued for a while, but I think I have lost a couple more...have to get on the scale tomorrow. I am scheduled for my first fill on March 10th. Keep up the good work!

KD- omg...that's when I first had the pain, eating tuna! I wonder if it is too "dense" and I would guess you're right, chewing it better will help. downsdc- I had a "mindless" moment too...I walked by my son eating doritos and just grabbed 2, I think I forgot completely about the surgery! Well, needless to say, the chest pain was bad...I almost felt as though I would be sick but wasn't. Going to try to be completely mindful from now on...it just goes to show the amount of calories I was taking in before without a thought to it. Christy- I was on a diet before were I lost 60 lbs. in a short period of time (and gained it all back plus in the same amount of time), however, I started to loste an alarming amount of hair...increased protein is definately the way to go, but flaxseed oil can help also. It doesn't really taste like anything, I used to just take a Tablespoon of it or make a salad dressing with it and vinegar, italian spice, etc. and it had no effect on my weight loss and it really seemed to help. I am definately going to be looking out for that (the hair loss) so I can jump on it right away, and am eating a lot of protein to keep it from happening (as well as the fact that we are supposed to). Hope- I know what you mean about portion control. I am feeling really bad about being hungry and eating more than a portion at times...then I remember that there is no fill. I don't want to use this as an excuse, but I don't want to feel like a failure either. Maybe you have stopped losing because it is harder to get enough calories on the purees? Just a thought... Well, have a good rest of the day everyone...!

christy, Hi there. At 600 calories maybe you are not eating enough to lose? The water could also have something to do with it....no matter what diet, plan, etc. I have been on I could never drink the amount of water I was supposed to...it would always make me sick to my stomach. I have lost 19lbs to date, but nothing in the last 3-4 days, which I attribute to eating more "substantial" soft foods. It is a little disappointing after losing so fast, but I knew to expect it. I cant wait for my fill... to see what this is really like and to not be so hungry and tempted to just eat anything, and fast (that is how I get when I'm hungry...eating whatever is handy and too quickly) though, of course I am trying to curb that now. Good luck and I'm sure you will start losing again soon. A question for all. Does anyone have pain in their clavical after they eat? I seem to get this pain that radiates up (I can only assume from the band) to my left clavical. It only seems to be when I eat too fast or too big a bite. Just wondering. Thanks! -Julie

Trock97, As disappointing as it is, I certainly understand. I myself had a good sized piece of chocolate today that I knew I shouldn't have had. I wasn't hungry all day, though I forced down a little tuna with low fat mayo and relish. Then- the chocolate looked so good and I had not had anything solid in so long...I did it. And I think that might be what is happening to you. You have had liquids and puree for so long...you want something solid. However, I think tomorrow is a new day for both of us, and we need to make better choices. Did that food sit well with you? If not, maybe going back to softer foods is a good idea. If you are up to solid foods the chicken and ground beef don't sound bad...mashed or cut very tiny maybe. Don't forget, if you have no fill you are just as hungry as before (though I loved the line about the Dr. putting the band on your kidney!), and that will change soon. Don't be down on yourself...I felt SO guilty about the chocolate until I read your post, and you were so honest, I said to myself...THIS is what it is about, making good choices, but being honest with yourself when you don't (I was a member of the "lie to yourself" club when it comes to weight...i.e.- that IS TOO a portion size...a little gravy (a 1/2 cup IS TOO a little) won't make a difference...I screwed up my diet today, so it won't matter if I eat this plate of cookies...etc.) So thank you for reminding us there will be ups and downs- things were going so well I was a little devastated at my "chocolate indiscretion." Just keep the goal of your fill in mind, think of the hunger you are experiencing now as short term and work toward making the best decisions you can for the time being. Good luck and keep us posted. It is so nice to have this thread and to all be in this together! -Julie

Craig, Hi! Could you explain the "stones" thing? Thanks! -Julie Christy, I have also found pureed tuna and egg salad (in the food processor with low fat mayo, pickle relish with the tuna) very good. As of yesterday I had lost 12 pounds since the surgery, 19 since before the surgery due to pre-op diet.

Hi everyone. I am newly banded as well as new to this forum. I am just starting to feel better after surgery (I had a hiatal hernia repair as well as the Lap Band), and ready to embark on my new lifestyle! My starting weight was 275 and I have already lost a few pounds. I know that I will have questions along the way so I am so glad to have found this site!

Hi everyone. I was banded on Jan. 26th also and just found this thread. I am feeling much better now and onto pureed foods. It will be great to have somewhere to come to compare notes and get/give encouragement!
