    Lettuce

Hi...I have been banded since last June. I also will put some lean meat and fat free cheese in my salad.

    Lettuce

I love my salads...I buy the shredded packaged lettuce (usually used for tacos and sandwichs) and I find this is easier to handle since pieces are very thin. I cut my cucumber and tomatoes into very tiny pieces also. This was much easier than chewing the lettuce until my jaw was sore!
  5. I took Lovenox 5 years ago when I got 2 blood clots in my leg after a surgery. I also was on Coumadin. As a precaution before banding, I was given a dose of Lovenox, and then 1 the next day. Lovenox will thin the blood, but I have been told it is not as dangerous as high molecular weight heparin (what you would get through an IV) Lovenox is a low molecular weight that is given in subcuatenous fat. I will tell you that I was on 2 shots a day for almost a month. One little secret I learned, because it can burn when going in (you do not even feel the tiny needle) is to very slowly depress plunger so you do not have all the meds going in at once and burning. I just sat there for about 30 seconds or so and kept pressing on plunger until all was in. This did not hurt at all. Do not rub after!! GOod luck...

    Nervous!

I just found out today my surgery date will be June 30th. I was so excited, and then the nerves set in. Second guessing myself, and worrying about failure. I have researched as much as I can and believe this is the best option for me. But SO nervous. I am just praying about it and taking a deep breath and thinking about how much better off I will be. Now if I can get through the 2 week pre op liquid diet...oh no...:biggrin1:
