    Traveling 6 weeks Post Op!

Thank you soooo much!!! I really appreciate your reply!
  3. Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you! We're all getting those travel compression socks to wear. Hopefully those will help! Our flight is at night, so we want to sleep as much as possible...
  4. Sweet! Thanks, guys!! Although, I am a little worried about the bathroom comment... Are there major problems with like throwing up or diarrhea or something? Hahaha!! When I had my band, I remember having diarrhea a lot. Oh boy!!! Thank you for telling me about thet UK sub forum!!! Any other advice is greatly appreciated!
  5. Help!!!!! My esophagus hurts so bad! I woke up at 5:30 this morning, which is better than some nights. Anyway, I took a maximum strength heart burn pill, which has 20 mg of Famotidine in it. That didn't help at all! I'm starting to think that it was because I didn't actually have heartburn. My esophagus just hurts so bad! And I can't sleep! I just feel like my esophagus is being eaten away. Lame! And I can't get an aspiration because I'm 1800 miles away from my doctor. I also drank two glasses of milk, which barely helped. The weird thing is that I just ate a little bit of Breakfast and it has helped a lot! Am I normal?! :smile2:
  6. So, I pretty much failed with my band. I've slipped about 5 times, and now, most of my stomach is above the band. My doctor said, "Oh yeah. This needs to come off." Surgery is on Thursday. Anyone else having this problem? I'm kind of freaking out. Any advice on what to expect and stuff would be fabulous. Or just some kind words would be good, too! Thanks!
  7. I don't know about anyone else, but I can feel every single thing that I eat, and I can tell when it goes down into my lower stomach. And I'm really not sure how I figured this out, but I figured out how to push my food down by twisting my body in certain ways and "expanding" my stomach. Please don't criticize me for this!!! I know it's my fault. Hahaha! I just did it to get out of pain. You think I would have learned after so many times.
  8. Yeah...my doctor said that if it happens once, it will probably happen again. Word to the wise...never, ever, EVER try to push food down if you get stuck. It was mostly that that caused me to slip. But throwing up after I've been stuck for hours didn't help either. Neither did the flu. I know this is a little Captain Obvious, but just try and avoid getting stuck in the first place. By the way, I was able to lose 40lbs, and my band has been in since January 2009. It does work!! Just don't abuse it like I did! It was totally my fault. Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and kind words!
  9. I'm going through the same thing right now! I have slipped 3 times now and I don't know what to do! I just want to start over. I really want to just have a revision and not the sleeve. Good to know there are other people out there experiencing the same thing!
  10. Word to the wise...this is a little gross... This really sucks! Last night I woke up around 1:30 and had the "Rocky Mountain Quick Step", as my grandpa calls it. I then proceeded to barf in the bathtub right next to me. Since then until about 8 this morning I had thrown up 9 times, not including the dry heaving. I'm just very concerned about my band. I was banded in Jan of 09. I have slipped 3 times already and waiting to hear back on a revision. Luckily it doesn't hurt...yet. I haven't put anything in my stomach yet for fear of barfing again. Any advice? Nine times is a lot! Oh, the joys of having 8 nieces and nephews over for Easter! By the way, I did leave a message with my doctor. Just waiting to get a reply. Please respond!
  11. So, I just wanted to tell you about something that happened just now. Kinda freaked out. I was on my computer just playing a game, and I kinda fell asleep. I woke up with a start when "stuff" started coming out of my NOSE!!! (This next part is kinda gross.) It kind of had little cottage cheese-ish stuff in it, but the majority of it was watery. I know it's band-related because I have been having issues with reflux/choking/drowning feeling. I don't understand what's going on!!!! Should I be worried? Has anyone else experienced this? By the way, it's all down my shirt and a little on my pants. I'm kind of freaking out. I'm not gonna lie. Help!!!! :smile2:

    What the h?!

Oh geez! That scares me! I don't want to have slippage!!!! :smile2: Thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate it!!! I'll make an appointment as soon as I am back home. Sounds like you should, too! Let me know how you're doing!
  13. thall04

    What the h?!

Yeah! The last time I ate was around 6:30 p.m. But I have to take my pills at night so the water messes me up. UGH!!!! Sorry...

    What the h?!

A year and a half. I got a fill in April, and she filled me up VERY tight. But I went back to college, so I couldn't get an aspiration. I've just been living with it since then. However, I am on my way back to Texas, so we're going to address the issue. Thanks for writing back so quickly!!!
  15. So this is more of a vent than a question. I am sooooo unbelievably tired!!! I have so much to do! It's finals week and I am graduating after being at college for 6 years. I have my last two finals tomorrow (Thursday), and then I have to pack up everything, throw away stuff, and do my white glove all before 11:30 on Friday. Not to mention that I threw up 5 times yesterday (not on purpose!) and I wasn't able to eat anything. Today was the same way. It's really frustrating because the last thing I ate was at 6:30-ish. I didn't even partake of the "Book Arts Edible Book Challenge" because I was trying to be careful. I keep waking up, feeling a kind of choking/drowning sensation. I don't know if this is reflux or not. :tongue2: I'm sure I need an aspiration, but with insurance/time/need to lose weight, I was wondering if there was anything else I can do to get rid of this besides an aspiration. Unfortunately, my acid reducer medicine is in my car, and I don't want to go get it. Anyway. Thanks for listening, if there's a possibility that there are some of you listening. Let me know if you are listening! It makes me happy!
  16. Hahaha! So true, elcee!!! I'm pretty sure it is band related, though. I ate popcorn last night, and after the first few bites, I started getting that burning sensation. Despite the pain, I kept going!!!! Why do I do this to myself????!!!! Ugh!:smile2:

    Acid Reflux

Yeah...I "slept" sitting up last night (I have one of those backrest things with the arms) and got a maximum of two hours of sleep last night. Whenever I would fall asleep, I would wake up burping/almost barfing. I feel awful! But I can't miss church because I have to teach! And, my insurance is kind of messed up right now, and aspirations are ridiculously expensive. I just don't know what to do. I mean, I'm definitely going to call my doctor tomorrow (1800 miles away) and ask him, but what can he do so far away? This really sucks. Is there anything I can do? I'm miserable! By the way, thanks for responding!

    Acid Reflux

So I'm pretty sure that I am having the exact same problem right now. I'm so tired and weak, but I can't fall asleep because I keep having reflux. I would go in to have them take some out, but, alas, I am at school in Idaho where the closest doctor is an hour and a half away, and he's not my actual doctor. Is there anything I can do? HELP!!!!
  19. Hello, everyone! For a couple of days, I have been experienced a speckled kind of bruising right where my band is. Has anyone else experienced this? It's been 14 months since I was banded, and I just wanted to know if it's okay. I hurts every time I breath in really hard. The only difference I've made in the last couple of days is starting the Jillian Michaels Fat Burning Blast. Any suggestions? Should I be worried? Thanks! Love you guys!
  20. Do any of you have any tips for me? I'm eating way too much (a lot more than 4 oz.), but I'm still not back to eating where I was. That's a good thing, but I'm very frustrated. I even gained a few pounds. I'm so mad!!!!!! Am I not using this tool right? It's been a year since I was banded. I'm just a little bit discouraged. Is the food supposed to go down into the larger stomach right away? Or is it just supposed to stay there for a while? I know that this is a really dumb question, but I'm just a little confused. Please help!!!!!
  21. My personal favorite is Dulcolax Overnight. Take one at night, then get movin' in the morning! Hahaha! Hope everything goes okay!
  22. Hello, everyone! Just wondering if this is normal. I am just getting over bronchitis, and I have been coughing like crazy! So, as a result, I keep having extreme port pain. The thing is it's about two inches to the left of my port. My pain is absolutely horrible!!! It feels like someone stuck an ice pick in my stomach. I think that the scar tissue is being pulled. I don't know. I called my doctor and the MA said to just put heat and cold packs on it. She said port pain was normal. But I've had port pain before, and this just seems a lot different. What should I do?! Help!!!!
  23. Trust me!!!! I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!! I just actually got finished throwing up A LOT (more than normal, actually) after two bite of well-chewed chicken. I HATE CHICKEN!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! I feel the same way you do, though. It really sucks. Right now, I'm kind of in a love/hate relationship. What I'm wondering is if it's the major change in elevation I went through. I moved to Idaho for school, and ever since then, I keep throwing up. And I throw up things that I can normally eat! I don't get it! I'm glad I'm not the only one, though! Sorry if this didn't help much. Finals week just ended, and I have been semi-incoherent the past couple of days. :cool2:
  24. Hello everyone! I just wanted to get your opinion on something. I am going to a university right now, and I am kind of having a hard time following the diet. The life of a POOR college student can be pretty dismal at times. Do you have any tips on food that would be okay to eat but something super cheap? I don't know what to do. And, I think I am able to eat a little more than I should be able to. I won't be able to get another fill until I go home in July, and my best friend is coming home after a mission for 1 1/2 years. She doesn't know I had the surgery, and I want to surprise her with a big weight loss. The amount of food I am able to eat is A LOT less than I was able to eat but quite a bit more than I could eat after surgery. Did that last paragraph make any sense? Hahaha. I'm tired. Any ideas?
  25. I was starting to wonder if I'm the only college student that got the band! It's good to know that I'm not the only one out there! I took winter semester off and had the surgery on January 22nd. Then I was back in April. However I was back at work a week and a half after surgery. You can do it! :bored:
