No painful fills yet, but I have a hard time going to get fills too. Not only is it expensive, but I have to drive 3 hours there and 3 more hours back. I'm just worried that I won't have enough fill room to reach my goal since I have a 4cc band and I already have 2.5 in there. Maybe if they stopped filling it so much each time. Who knows. I was wondering how that body bugg worked out. Sad to hear it didn't really help. After about a two month plateau, I'm just feeling *whaaaaa* right now. I'll get over it. Good luck!

I bake my tilapia in tinfoil @350 for 20-30 min, depending on the amount of fish. Before baking, I also season the fish with a tiny amount of butter, lemon juice, old bay, garlic powder and dill. yum.

I've got a 4cc band too. I am worried that it will be full before I have lost what I need!

Wow, Colorado! I wish you a speedy recovery! I heard gallstones are a painful, painful thing. Hit a plateau yet again. Like Saundra, it seems I only lose weight right around the fill and then level out. I put a calorie/workout counter ap on my iphone, but it seems the calories per day that are supposed to make me lose a pound a week are too high. Going to reduce them this week and try again. I don't mind slow weight loss, but a month of nothing is ridiculous!
-
Thanks Saundra and happy 6 months to everyone too! Honestly, I thought I'd be further along than this, but I have to remind myself that it is a slow slope down. Went on vacation to see husband's family for a week and actually lost a pound, even though we ate out at restaurants the whole time. In the past that would be a guaranteed gain. So I guess I can't complain.
-
I know what you mean. I hit a standstill about every 6 or 7 pounds. It is hard to be patient, but looking at the big picture (pun intended) helps.

Happy 5 months, everyone! Last weekend was my first vacation away from home, and the first time ever that I didn't gain a pound, even though there was so much food everywhere. YAY! :smile2:
-
How's everyone doing? I am finally able to eat veggies again. I swear I just had the best salad ever, or so it seemed. Never thought I'd actually miss them. Still a slow crawl downward. But even if it seems slow, at least it is downward!

I have the same problem. I'm constantly sticking my plate in the microwave.

I'll be out of town, so I wanted to wish everyone happy 4 month bandiversary!!! I think I may have had an overfill on fill number two. I lost 6 pounds in the first two weeks, but now I have stalled out again. It seems no matter how small of a bite and how much I chew solids, they don't stay down very well. Eating solids is a little painful, and then more than not, I get the profusive, uncontrollable salivation followed by a trip to the throne room. So I have been falling back on liquids and mushies, thus the plateau. I keep hoping this thing will loosen up a bit.

Wow! Congrats on the weightloss Colorado and Saundra! This 2nd fill is making all the difference in the world now. I need to remember to take my vitamins. Started working out 30 min on the elliptical. Made it three times this week, up from two last week. Good luck with the body bugg. Tell us how that is working for you!

Yep, the doc said I was really due for my second fill, and boy do I feel restriction now. Three bites of soup and I start to gurgle. A couple of sips of juice and I start to gurgle. It goes down ok but it takes quite a while. I'm actually glad they don't want me to eat any solids for a week. The thought actually terrifies me. Maybe the scales will start moving again.

Happy belated third month! Getting my second fill on Monday, and boy do I need it.

Sure, I just get a pre-made deep dish pie crust from the freezer section, put 1/2C of shredded cheddar cheese in the bottom, crumble 4 slices of pre cooked ready to eat bacon (armor brand takes less than a min in the microwave), and sliced mushrooms (you can add any other veggie you want, such as peppers and onions). In a measuring cup, I beat 4 eggs with a fork, then add a cup of half and half. Beat those together, then season with whatever you like. I go with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika with a tiny dash of nutmeg. After mixing, pour over the other ingredients in your pie crust and bake at 390-400 degrees, for about 40-50 min depending on your oven. I had to tweak my times until I got perfect crust browning without shellacked eggs. 1/8 of the quiche is around 200 calories.

I usually go for a breakfast quiche. Sometimes if I'm really hungry, though it may sound weird, low fat black beans or something equally full of protein.

Glad I found this thread. I've hit a plateau for a month now. But everyone here seems to have found a good place after fill number 2. That is scheduled 4/27, and I hope I get better restriction. I can eat way too much now. Does anyone feel their port tug a bit when they bounce? i.e. go down the stairs fast or jog. It just feels weird. I've been sticking with the elliptical more since there is no bounce.
-
Also at a stand still here. Haven't gained or lost in a month. Second fill scheduled for 4/27.
-
sounds like they are overcharging the insurance company, which is typical practice. I'm a cash pay and get charged $250 and that is with the xrays.

:frown: Happy 2 month bandiversary everyone! I have hit a plateau, but at least I don't gain anymore. The full factor has left me too, and I can eat more. Gonna have to kick up the exercise.

I haven't tried steak yet. The only thing I haven't been able to tolerate is bread so far. I can eat rice no problem. I even went out for sushi last night and had no problem with the sticky rice. My biggest PB moments come from the first bite syndrome...when I forget and swallow too large of a bite too fast. It is weird how some days I can feel restriction and feel everything as it goes down, and yet some days I feel nothing and can eat much more.
-
I tried a toasted wheat english muffin. No luck. Haven't tried cornbread yet.
-
Tried a tuna melt yesterday. I even toasted the bread, but it was a no go. Found I could eat the tuna with crackers okay, though. Today: B:Hard boiled egg, 1/4C blueberries, string cheese L:Hormel microwavable Santa Fe Beans and rice S:Ten almonds D:Homemade tacos and refried (low fat) black beans
-
Thanks for the informative and funny story, Lena. So far, so good here. The only thing I haven't tolerated is bread. I even tried toasting. Oh well, small price to pay.

Sharon, You haven't gotten your first fill, so the band hasn't been able to do its job yet. Give it a chance before you start worrying too much. I just got my fill last Monday and started eating solids again Friday night, and boy howdy do I feel it. The two weeks before the fill I was eating everything in sight. The liquids after the fill were running right through me. But now, everything has changed. Also think about this: the band is supposed to not just make you lose weight, but never gain it back again. How many diet and exercise programs alone have the success rate of keeping the weight off compared to people who have lapbands? So what if it takes you two years to lose it all and reach your goal if you are never gaining it back again? I'm counting on slow, steady, and permanent! Hang in there!

I got my first fill on 3/2. 1.5cc in a 4cc band. Of course the first several days I hardly noticed it due to having only liquids, but today...oh boy...it seems like everything is getting stuck at first before I realize I'm eating too fast and not chewing enough. Once the pain goes away, I eat a bit more again, making sure I'm chewing better and taking smaller bites. That seems to be working. Now if I can just remember not to get caught in that first bite syndrome I'll be okay!
