  1. Thank you for the sweet comments on that thread. It is a really great surgery, and it's a great tool to give a healthy and happy life. If you need anything don't hesitate to contact me.

  2. YAY YAY, I found Dreamfields pasta at our commissary, and plan on picking some up next time I'm down there stocking up because it's super cheap vs. the upscale grocery store.

Thanks for thinking of us. I'll gobble up the mac-n-cheese myself.

  3. Thanks. . . John's heading to Haiti, and was on stand-by all week so I didn't want to make any sudden changes to our schedules. I'm hoping to have it done some time this week. He's heading out soon, we don't know the specific time yet. I'll post new pics once I have it done.

  4. That's the issue, I first ran into with venison as well. I'm so glad I found some down here. We don't eat ground beef unless it's the 97/3 lean stuff, and I only use it on rare occasions, maybe once every 3 months for spaghetti. I can't get the guys in my house to eat venison spaghetti, or even ground turkey.

  5. Hey there, I found ground buffalo at our higher end grocery store here in town, and then went on a mad dash for a good buffalo meatloaf recipe. Here's the link if you wanna take a peek.

  7. Haven't seen you around, and wanted to check on you. . . I hope you are recovering, and sipping away on your water, and walking ! ! !

  8. Anytime ! ! ! I know you will get there, and it's going to feel fabulous for you ! ! !

  9. Thank you so very much. The sleeve is awesome ! ! ! You'll do amazing as well.

  10. 2 weeks clears, 1 week full liquids, then onto mushies/purees. I actually did 17 days of clears, then I moved to full liquids for a week, then onto mushies for about 2 weeks then I started incorporating solids with mushies.

  11. Thank you much. If my husband gets the job at Lackland, we'll have to have lunch. He just put in for a different special duty assignment in another state, but if this one doesn't pan out, he'll move forward with the Lackland position.

  12. Hey Shawna, and welcome to VST. Congrats on getting your surgery. How was your experience at Wilford Hall? I've heard mixed reviews. Congrats again ! ! !

  13. Okay, since you and I both love Old Navy, you may already do this, but you click on the stuff on the page until you find a coupon. It's a weekly thing. If you click on the mannequins shoes, it will pop up a 25% entire in store coupon that they will email to you. Plus, I signed up for the free text messaging weekly for deals and steals. If you sign up for the email alerts also they send you a 10% off coupon for online purchases.

  14. Ohhhhhhhhh that's kinda crazy. You'll do okay, and just take it one day at a time.

  15. I just wanted to check in with you and see how you are doing ! ! !

  16. Hey Kelly,

Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here, and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to message me anytime. Thanks for the sweet compliments.

  17. You meet the eligibility requirements with your BMI. Let me know how you like the surgeons at Lackland, my husband is putting in for a special duty assignment there so we could be there sometime next year. I'm pretty sure they'll still make you have the psych consult and nutritional consult, that seems to be pretty standard. If they do require a 6 month pre-requisite, just bide your time, I know 6 months is a long time to wait, but it will be worth it.

  18. Hey Erika,

I had to get the referral from my PCM, attend the bariatric seminar, and then consult with the surgeon. I also had to have a psych eval, and nutritional consult. I did not have to do anything for 6 months. If a civilian is doing the surgery, they may require a 6 month nutritional consult, but our base here does not require that. I had to meet with a nutrtionist right before surgery again just to go back over the post-op diet.

I am not sure what the requirements are for Goodfellow. But, the first step is to get a referral.

Are you going to use a civilian surgeon or going to use the base surgeon?

Do you have Tricare Prime or Standard? Plus, I heard the requirements may be changing here in 2010, but I am not sure what the new requirements might be. Also, you BMI, and co-morbidities will be assessed to determine if you are eligible for surgery. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to contact me.

  19. I am so glad the scale is moving again. Sometimes we just have to "trick" our bodies into doing what we need it to do. If you hit another stall, make another change, and you'll see results. I'm so happy for you ! ! ! You look fab as well, keep up the great work.

  20. Hey Laura, I wanted to answer your question on what to eating when out with family/friends.

At first, I ate soup, or chili. Then, as my diet progressed, I would eat about half of an appetizer. Also, my 11 year old son eats twice as much as I can, and his tiny hiney metabolizes food quick. Anyways, 9 times out of 10, we order 2 entrees, 1 for myself and my son, and 1 for the husband. For instance, Olive Garden, I order soup, Caysen orders lasagna, and I share with him and have my soup. When we got for a steak at say "Logan's Steakhouse", we order a small steak 8oz, with mashed potatoes, and salad, and we share the entire meal. For mexican food, Caysen (the kiddo) and I share chicken fajitas for 1, and we always have leftovers. I eat Nachos appetizer at Chili's, I eat 3 of the chips with all the toppings, then I eat just the toppings off of 1-2 chips. Early on though, I did eat a lot of soups, and chilis.

  21. Hey Kelsie, we're at Hurlburt Field, but live in Navarre. John has put in for a special duty assignment at Lackland for an ESS instructor so I can be close to my family and friends. I'm so glad you found me on here. It is great to have someone that knows this lifestyle. You'll do great, and your husband will be so surprised. We didn't exchange pictures while John was gone except for a couple of head shots because he wanted to be surprised. Boy, was he surprised ! ! ! Anyways, if you need anything don't hesitate to contact me on here. We won't know about the Lackland job until the first of the year. We may be there by the summer time. Good luck with your surgery, and keep me posted on your progress.

  22. Hey there, and welcome to VST. Anytime you need anything, feel free to message me anytime. Don't hesitate, if I don't know the answer, I'll try to find it for you. Congrats on getting your date, and I'll be anxiously waiting to hear updates from you ! ! !

  23. The sleeve is so different from the band. I assure you that you can be successful with the sleeve. I've never been happier with my results. I'm sorry for the delay in my reply. We were out of state for the Thanksgiving holiday, and just returned last night.

  24. I'll definitely check out the chewy calcium you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up ! ! !

  25. Thanks for the sweet pic comments. That red shirt is too big, but it's my "go to" shirt when I'm rushing out of the house LOL.
