  1. There is absolutely NO WAY on God's green earth that I'd let a surgeon use a 60fr on me, no way no how. . . and I'd never get a band that's just dangerous. Sorry, I just have a strong personal opinion on the band, and it's ridiculous to add on when he could just make the sleeve to the standardized size of a 32fr to 40fr. If he uses a 60fr, your fundus won't be fully dissected, and stretching and hunger are almost a guarantee for you.

Personally, I'd get a new surgeon. You can really trust that he'll give you what you want once you are put under anesthesia. Putting the band around the sleeve is a completely outdated, and absurd practice that has been heavily advised against.

Here's the link on the study on smaller bougies.

  5. Walking was allowed immediately post-op. Anything involving weights, or ab/core workouts had to wait until 6-8 weeks post-op. No lifting anything over 10-15lbs for 6 weeks to allow the internal incision to heal properly. Hope this helps!

  6. YAY YAY, I found Dreamfields pasta at our commissary, and plan on picking some up next time I'm down there stocking up because it's super cheap vs. the upscale grocery store.

Thanks for thinking of us. I'll gobble up the mac-n-cheese myself.

  7. Yeppers, there's a few patients that opt to have their gallbladder removed simultaneously. I had mine out in February, and have had to make some adjustments to my food choices. Essentially, I just had to cut out full fat dressings, and avocados and red pasta sauce or large amounts of ketchup. Those are the only things that bother me severely post gb removal, but everything else has been good to go.

I'll start checking around your area for a good revision surgeon. Give me a couple of days, and I'll get back with you.

  8. You're about 3 weeks out, and it seems most people hit a stall. I could not work out for 3.5 months due to complications, so all I did was walk. At 4.5 months, I joined the gym, and did strength training 3 days a week, and 1 day of cardio at home. I do hip hop abs as my cardio and love it.

Don't get discouraged, 30lbs in 20 days is remarkable. You may stall out, but don't fret it's normal, take your body measurements, thighs, calves, waist, bust, hips and you'll still see inches leave even when the scale doesn't move. At 3 weeks out, you'll need to be careful for exercise. You have internal sutures as well, and your internal incisions need to heal completely.

    You're doing great.

  9. You've done really great Laura. Honestly, if you're snacking, you'll have to go back to basics. How many calories are you getting in? Are you still tracking? If not go back.

Try doing 800 calories for 1 day then back up to your norm calories for 3 days then back down for 1 day. Shake things up, freak your body out.

I know you can do this Laura. The weight regain is probably water weight. I found drinking some diet grape/cranberry juice made me pee more when I was retaining water. It helped.

Laura hang in there. You're only 5 months out, and you'll get to goal. Put the snacks away for a few days and go back to mainly protein. If you have to use protein drinks to keep your protein up and carbs low.

Don't give up chickee, you've come so far.

  10. 2 weeks clears, 1 week full liquids, then onto mushies/purees. I actually did 17 days of clears, then I moved to full liquids for a week, then onto mushies for about 2 weeks then I started incorporating solids with mushies.

  11. 3oz of chicken is over 20 gr of protein, 1 egg is 7gr, and you can add 2 wedges of laughing cow cheese for another 6grams. Tuna, scallops, shrimp are all high protein foods.

  12. Also, check out ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND? System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. for bariatric surgeons in your area. You may be able to find a surgeon close to you that people have already shared their experiences on that board.

  13. Anytime ! ! ! I know you will get there, and it's going to feel fabulous for you ! ! !

  14. At the airport, he looked right at me, turned his face the other way and kept walking in the other direction. Absolutely did not recognize me at all. I had to run up about 10 feet, stomp my feet in my red patent leather peep toe wedges, and he finally realized it was me. His jaw dropped, he ran over, and just grabbed me. He just said "you look so amazing, I love you so much". It was pretty amazing.

  15. Awwwwwwwwwww thanks so much ! ! !

  16. Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and smooth recovery tomorrow. You know Swiftflow is having surgery tomorrow in Denton, Tx at the same exact time ! ! ! My thoughts are with you.. . .

  17. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery ! ! !

  18. But, during my losing stage, I cut carbs to no more than 30gr a day, and mainly got my carbs from dairy. No snacking, 4 meals a day with a minimum of 15gr of protein per meal. 600-800 calories, 30gr of carbs or less, 60+ protein per day. That's how I got to goal, and that's what really worked for me. Now, I eat 1500-1800 calories per day, 100gr of protein, and 100gr of carbs, sometimes more carbs

  19. Chat shut down, and I can't get back in. I promise I didn't just drop off the face of the planet in there. . . We'll catch up soon.

  20. Check my blog on here for all the research links, dietary guidelines, and other miscellaneous information I have gathered over the last 20ish months.

  21. Check out my blog here. I don't have the details on my Facebook, I'm open about my surgery on FB, but I don't put the research I've done on there just because most wouldn't read it. Plus, I direct everyone here that contacts me on FB.

  22. Congrats on your loss thus far. Missed ya around here, don't be a stranger ! ! !

  23. Copy that link into your browser. It's a study for VSG and RNY resolution of diabetes. Also, on the left hand side of the page, there are other studies for your review. Make sure you look up Reactive Hypoglycemia with RNY which is extremely common with RNY patients with diabetes.
