I got a date to talk to the surgeon.
Tiffykins replied to Ky.hen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm really glad you got a date with the surgeon. I'm unfamiliar with the mini-bypass, and hope someone has some answers for you. -
Why is there a clear liquid phase?
Tiffykins replied to dharma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach is going to be healing from being stapled and cut away. If you were to throw food or even liquids with a texture in there can you imagine the mess you would have on your hands? ? ? Plus, it's not a simple nip tuck procedure. It's traumatic, there's significant swelling. Plus, your anatomy has forever changed, and it's a huge shock to your body. The stomach has to get used to working again, and considering 75-85% of the rest of your stomach is gone, it needs time to adjust. -
I'm not a fan of Unjury at all. I tried 5 different flavors from their product line and all of them smelt and tasted horrible to me. I didn't even like the unflavored. I'm super picky, and had tried 15+ brands and flavors over the last few months. I was hellbent on finding one that I actually can tolerate and the nectar Proteins have been great for me and my taste buds. Having sleeve surgery definitely forced me into trying out Protein powders, thankfully I found the Nectar products.

Congratulations on getting your date. . .

Do things taste different post op?
Tiffykins replied to attitudefree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The change that I have personally noticed is I'm a bit sensitive to sweet things. Even the sugar-free popsicles are sweet to me. Grant it, I was never a sweet eater before surgery, but now some things are just too "sticky sweet" for me. The best example I can give you is I loved the Special K Protein Water packets in the Lemon Iced Tea flavor before surgery and drank 4-5 16oz bottles per day. Now, post-op, I have to mix them in at least 20-24oz of water to dilute them a bit more. I'm still on clears so I am not sure what will happen when I progress to full liquids/mushies. -
I'm in early again tonight. . .

nectar Cappucino flavor is very good. I was going to mix in some coffee, but it's not needed. Mixed extremely well in Water, not gritty, has a nice coffee taste, and just enough sweet to make it tasty. Not proteiny tasting or smelling. 5 out of 5 stars

Nectar Crystal Sky flavor too proteiny tasting for me. It mixes well in water, and turns blue. It smells a little proteiny to me as well. Not going to be able to finish this one.

They are on my approved clears list.

I'm 32 (33 in December). . . I cried for my 28th, 29th and when 30 hit, I got over it. . . My husband 27, and I don't think I'd want to be in my 20's again. It's true what they say about hormones/sex drive in your 30's so that's one thing to look forward to at this point. . .

YAY, I hope you like it. Just to let you know, I mix mine in at least 16oz of water.

I'm so excited for you, and congrats on getting your date! ! !

I'm really sorry to hear this news Judy. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts during this process. I can only imagine how frustrated you are about this news.

I ordered Mederma (the big tube) for 20 bucks from skinwest.com and got free shipping. For the revision surgery, he used the port incision and added 2 little lap sites. He made my scar from the port incision look amazing. I don't what the technique is called, but I barely have a scar, it just looks like a line. He used the glue on top of all the incision. I mainly got the Mederma for the old scars, and for the one scar on my boob from a mole removal I had done in May. The Mederma says apply 3-4 times daily and look for results in 6-8 weeks for new scars, and 3-4 months for old scars.

The fuzzy navel had a hint of Protein smell, but the Caribbean cooler didn't have that smell. I can't stand the smell either. unjury made me want to vomit. That is my biggest turn off to the protein powders, the smell just makes me gag. The lemon tea flavor didn't have much of a smell, but the taste/mix was nasty. I'm having some intestinal issues today, so I'm steering clear of protein today. I was going to try the Crystal Sky flavor, but for the time being, I'm just doing Water.

I really like them. They mix completely in Water, no gritty, no sliminess. Well except for the Lemon Tea. I was so worried they weren't going to dissolve in water or I'd have to stir them constantly. But once, they're mixed, it's done.

I discussed it with my surgeon. My ideal weight is 129-145 for my frame size. We set my initial goal weight at 150. My surgeon suspects that I may lose more, but he said that 150 was realistic and would be a good starting point.

Each sample is: 1.5 scoops, 34.5 grm Protein, 135 calories The ones I've tried have mixed well in Water. I don't blend them with ice, or make them thick because I can't stand thick stuff. I made the mistake of trying to blend the Fuzzy Navel in the blender with some ice, and it turned into this foamy/frothy nasty mixture. I had to wait 2 hours to drink the rest of it so the foam would dissipate.

8 days and counting... Need positive thoughts
Tiffykins replied to TennJenn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is overwhelming to be away from your babies. My son has been in Tx for the last 2.5 weeks and is due home July 4th, I've missed him so much. He spent this time in Tx with my family during my recovery. Hold strong to your faith and know that we'll be thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. -
I placed an order with Vitalady.com for nectar samples late evening on 6/18, and they arrived on 6/25, technically 5 business days. They are located in Washington state, and I'm in Florida, so I didn't think that was bad for shipping. I ordered 10 samples and the shipping was $7.95. Caribbean Cooler is the best flavor I've tried. It tastes like a Pina Colada. It mixed well, and went down smoothly. 5 out of 5 stars. Lemon Tea flavor was absolutely repulsive. It left a film on the inside of the cup and tasted like stale tea that had been left in a stainless steel carafe for too long. ZERO stars. Fuzzy Navel is pretty good. It's a little tart, with a hint of Protein powdery taste and smell, but it's not overwhelming. 3 out of 5 stars I ordered Fuzzy Navel, Caribbean Cooler, Crystal Sky, Cappucino Latte, and Lemon Tea. I will probably order the Caribbean Cooler as my primary protein. I'll let you know that your taste may change after surgery. Mine have, and I seem to be a bit sensitive to sweet things, so even if you like it pre-op, you may hate it post-op, or worse it could make you nauseated which is no fun. I got nauseated on the Lemon Tea flavor, and I love tea, any kind of tea and was disappointed when this flavor was a huge fail.

Those both sound yummy. . . Thanks for sharing ! ! !

Isopure is horrific in my opinion, and I could not stomach it at all.
