Lack of interest in food
Tiffykins replied to MSgirlinFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months post-op, and I have little to no desire for food at all. I force myself to eat just because I know my body needs food. As for the food being lodged in your chest, it could be that you're possibly swallowing too fast, or not chewing stuff up enough. I've just keep trying stuff, and have found that some days food tastes better than others. It's a tough transition, and every day brings either a struggle or success. Just don't give up. -

I received my samples as well, but no blender bottle. -
The batteries in my scale are DEAD, and I haven't weighed in 2 days. Of course, this scale can't use just normal batteries. They are those flat, round watch type batteries. I'm a little obsessed with the scale, and don't deny it. This is driving me crazy, as much as I dread going to WalMart, I guess a trip is in order so I can get my scale back up and running. Deployment is almost over less than 21 days, and I'm getting antsy. I have a hair appointment on the 8th, and nails will follow the next week. Communication is pretty much gone at this point. I know the replacements should be there soon, and it's just so stressful. Projected return dates have changed a couple of times so I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll actually be home before the end of September. I just want it to be over. Other than that, not a lot going on. I have a mandatory 5th grade parent meeting tonight that I'm not looking forward to attending. Caysen is loving school, and he's doing great. Hope everyone is doing well.

Surgery date getting closer!
Tiffykins replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I purchased stuff for the clear and full liquid stage pre-op, but waited until post-op to order Protein. I ordered the Syntrax nectar samples, and liked 2 of them. 1 was my favorite so I ordered a huge tub of that flavor, and 2 weeks later, it made me sick and running to the bathroom. I gave it to my neighbor. I just ordered the Chike nutrtion samples, and hope I can find one that is tolerable. -
Wild Tales of airport security

That is just horrible, I'm sorry you had to endure all of that mess. I would definitely file some sort of complaint as well. -

It counts as a clear for my program since it's mixed with water. So, technically, I could have it the 1st day of clears. -
My bmi was 48 (5'2" and weighed in 263lbs) when I had the sleeve, and would never consider DS before at least giving a the sleeve a chance. I knew a restrictive procedure would work for me because I was successful with my band when I had restriction. There is plenty of research out there, and I hope you are able to choose the best option for your lifestyle.

I didn't have to do a liquid diet, but I had to do the high Protein, low carb thing for 7 days pre-op. I had one last "hoorah" of all my favorites before surgery, and didn't feel guilty about it one bit. Most of my choices are not sleeve friendly, such as Pasta, mongolian noodles and tortillas, southern country cooking. I'm glad I did it.

I just asked my surgeon on August 24th, and he said to steer clear of really dry, red wines, beers, and dark liquors. He said that a sweet, white wine might be "ok" in small doses, but to not overdo it.

I never thought we'd use ours, but we love it. It's great because it's so interactive, and we can all play unlike the other systems out there. We have the Wii Sports with bowling, boxing, and tennis, and a few others, it's so much fun. I'm not a big gamer or anything, but the Wii offers so much. I mowed the back yard yesterday, and weedeated around the house, so I didn't work out last night. But, tonight, it's on again.

Free Chike Protein Samples
Tiffykins replied to Tiffykins's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I did a search on it and apparently that is for a full serving. Everything I have found, and even Mac's tubs indicate 9-11 grams (determined by the flavor ordered) is the correct amounts. Each serving is 48g, 1 scoop that comes in the tubs. The one thing that I've noticed is that all scoops are different sizes. Here is an article/review from someone who ordered the samples and realized they were mislabeled. It has the nutrition label in the review where it clearly indicates the serving size, Protein and carb count. http://stanford.wellsphere.com/weight-loss-article/chike-protein/454391 I called and spoke with a rep named Jason, he confirmed that they use the same label for the 1/2 size samples with the assumption people would realize they have ordered half serving samples, and divide those numbers by 2. The label clearly indicates the serving size as 1 scoop/48grams and by ordering 1/2 serving, the protein and carb count will be 1/2 of what the label states. -

I checked the nutritional facts for the Chike, and for an entire servings (1 scoop), it's only 9 grams of carbs. Now, if you were drinking 2-3 of them a day, I could see where that number would be valid. Each serving has only 9 grams of carbs for 27 grams of Protein. I'm supposed to stay below 30. For the most part, I rarely consume any carbs, and have been eating mostly meat. I rarely eat any carbs so I'm okay with 9 per serving. Plus, I have to find something that I can tolerate because I am losing weight way too fast, and am having trouble getting in my protein due to food intolerance. -

Awwwww, Chancie thank you so very much. I sent the face pictures to the husband, and he literally freaked out. He thought the same thing that I didn't even look like the same woman. He hasn't seen me from the neck down. He wanted it to be a surprise once he gets back. -
I ended up having to take the jeans back from OldNavy. They were too long even with heels. I exchanged them for the 'short' size, I have short legs. I also picked up a couple of shirts. We stopped by the "Avenue" because they were having a big clearance. I almost fit inot their 14/16, but the boobage makes those shirts really short, and I still have a belly that I like to hide. I had to go with the 18/20 and the 2 shirts are a bit big, but super comfy. For 6 bucks each, I really couldn't pass them up. We stopped by Gamestop for the new Rockband Country track. I also picked up the Wii Active on a recommendation from a friend. I'm starting tonight, and I know I am going to feel so much better. Dr. M released me to full activity this last Monday, and I am feeling better this week than I have since this journey began back in June. I bought some adult gummie vitamins and they taste amazing. I still have my rough patches, but for the most part, life is so much better. We have less than 30 days on this deployment. Communication is slim, and it's frustrating. He's almost home, and I started all my little projects around the house. I bought new bedding for our bed, and he is going to love it. Every time he goes away, I buy new bedding. It's a weird thing I do, and he always loves what I pick out. I also cleaned out my closet. I bagged up over 100 articles of clothing, and I figured if I could sell each piece for 1-3 bucks each, that would be 100-300 for new clothes. It felt so good to get purged all of those clothes. I'll miss them, but I'll enjoy getting new ones more. I guess that's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

Night Reflux? Maybe?
Tiffykins replied to DownInSocal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had only after eating (same symptoms, but I would get a little liquid with the tickle), and my surgeon put me on Prilosec as well. I take one 20mg Prilosec once daily, and it took about 10 days for it to start working. My surgeon had warned me that it could take up to 2 weeks for me to see an improvement. I had told him I had chewed a couple of Tums, and he said that was fine as well. My surgeon recommended not eating anything at least 3 hours before I went to sleep and avoid drinking anything at least 30-45 minutes before bedtime until the Prilosec kicked in. I've been on Prilosec for over a month and have a marked improvement in how I feel on a daily basis. I hope it gets better for you soon. -
I hate to hear of your constant eating issues with the band. I know it's miserable. . . I didn't like the idea of my intestines being re-routed. The nutritional deficiencies were not something that I wanted to deal with. I also know some RNY patients that have regained back most of their weight at no fault of their own, but they are miserable, and options for revision are slim. When my band worked, it worked well. So, I knew I could be successful with a restrictive only procedure. The sleeve vs. band is like night and day. I couldn't be more satisfied with my decision to revise to the sleeve.

Surgery on 8/27, now home and feeling gassy!
Tiffykins replied to Dandimples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walking definitely helps. I found the GasX strips to be useful unless the gas was really low. In that case, I used a heating pad, and more walking. Congrats on your surgery, and I hope you are feeling well other than the gas. -
