  1. unjury brand makes an unflavored and chicken broth protein mix. I personally could not tolerate any of the flavors. But, most everyone around knows, that I'm way beyond picky when it comes to protein mixes/powders/drinks. You can order samples from this following link. https://www.unjury.com/ssl/purchasing.php Some people absolutely swear by Unjury, but it just wasn't for me.

    1 week post op question

Perfectly normal. I had a lot of watery bm's while on the clear and even the full liquid stage of the post-op diet. I didn't deal with constipation until I hit the soft solid/solid stage of the diet. Liquid in, liquid out for now. Just keep sipping so you stay hydrated.

    Does anyone else do this???????

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I did it once as well. We went out to the local cajun place, and I ordered Fried Pickles as an appetizer. Caysen and I decided that we were going to share an entree. We ordered the chicken fried chicken ( I never eat the breading ), mashed potatoes with cajun gravy and green Beans. I ordered extra gravy on the side, and small bowl of jumbalaya. John just looked at me like 'ummmmmmm where is all of that food going to go'. Least to say, I ate 4 bites of chicken with gravy, 4 green beans, and about 2 tbsp of the mashed potatoes with gravy. The jumbalaya (I loved before surgery) was so spicy that my tastebuds were on fire. We brought home an entire takeout box full of food. I didn't even try to eat the fried pickles.

    My OUT OF CONTROL moment

I have so many "out of control" moments that it'd be difficult to choose just one. BUT, the one that sticks out in my mind is when I was on Weight Watchers (one of the numerous times I did WW), and Sunday was my "cheat day". My bestie and I went to Souper salad (it's a huge salad bar with a bunch of extras). Anyways, I not only had salad, but a barbque brisket baked potato with all the add-ons, a couple of fajita soft tacos, and then more salad. The dang dessert bar always got me. I fooled myself into thinking this was "OKAY" because I used light thousand island dressing on my bucket size salad.

    Zumba

kicked my hiney ! ! ! I found another military wife that wants to get in shape. She signed up at the Y last week and she talked me into going tonight. Let me tell ya, Zumba is NOT for the weak. It kicked my butt, and I am definitely not coordinated enough to keep up. It was quite intimidating. Tomorrow is strength training and maybe a Hip Hop dance class in the evening.

Is emotional eating a girl thing?

I'm more of a volume eater. I would occasionally eat due to emotional distress. I mainly ate when I was "sad" if it was related to my mood, but for the most part I just loved to eat a bunch of food.

    Just elated

I went shopping yesterday, and had so much fun. I had bought a pair of 16 Levi's 2 weeks ago, but they are now saggy in the hiney, so I went and exchanged them for a pair of workout pants, a new fall cardigan, and size 14 jeans at our base exchange. Then we headed off to the mall. Old Navy has amazing clearance racks, and I picked up a bunch new tops and a warm weather sweater in a size MEDIUM. I don't think I've worn a medium sweater since junior high. The shirts I bought were large, but I could of gone for the mediums. I'm still stuck in the "fatty" mindset sometimes, and I really hate trying on clothes at the store. Luckily, I will be able to shrink some of the shirts. Plus, Old Navy had military discount day, so I got over 100bucks of clothes for $71 ! ! ! Today, I headed to Wal-Mart for some essentials and browsed their clearance racks as well. I picked up some pajama pants, and new work out pants in the junior section size 13. I almost fell over when I tried them on. I couldn't believe I fit into a junior anything. I also had to try on this new "shirt dress" trend I'm seeing everywhere. No such luck, I looked at the tag after I took it off, and it was a Miley Cyrus dress. I just laughed at myself thinking I could even remotely justify my 32 year old a$$ buying a Miley Cyrus dress. I only tried on the work out pants because I need them since I plan on hitting the gym 5 days this week. Next Monday, we are taking vacation to West Virginia to spend a week with John's family. I'm excited for the vacation, but it never fails that there is drama when we go. I'm hellbent on making it a good Thanksgiving week. Other than that, not much going on. I'm feeling good, and able to eat more calories. I start day 1 of the strength training program. On Tuesday evening, I'm going to attend the Hip Hop dance class, Wednesday is Day 2, Thursday Day 3, and then Friday is Spinning class. The strength training program rotates every 3 days, and targets a different body area every day. I hope everyone had a good weekend.

    bad day yesterday...

You're totally normal. I couldn't tolerate anything sweet either immediately after surgery. I didn't suffer from being cold, but I live in Florida, and it was summer for the majority of my recovery. As for Clear liquids, I loved the Celestial herbal decaf teas. They were fruit flavored, but NOT overly sweet at all. Also, I used chicken bouillion cubes for my broths. Warm liquids were better for me in the beginning, and I was tired of drinking just plain Water. As for the heightened sense of smell, I still deal with this issue at over 5 months post-op. The smell of baby powder makes me want to vomit. The smell in most fast food places turn my stomach. It has gotten better, but it has not completely disappeared. Keep sipping, take a short little walk, and rest when your body tells you it needs to rest.

    Houston area sleevers?

I'm not from Houston, but wanted to welcome you to VST. I'm originally from the D/FW area in TX. There are a couple of members from the Houston area Shanda and Alegna are the first 2 that come to mind. You can click on Member list at the top of the forum, and find them in alphabetical order. I'm a band to sleeve revision, and absolutely love the sleeve. It's been a wonderful journey. If you have any specific questions or concerns, ask away. We're all here for you ! ! !

    Surgery tomorrow!

I'll be thinking about you for tomorrow. I didn't really worry about the drinking freely after surgery. I had to stop drinking at midnight the night before surgery, and was wheeled into the OR around 11ish. I wasn't thirsty, but I did hate not being able to brush my teeth thoroughly. It was nasty. I'll be watching to see an updated thread from you once you get home ! ! !

    Only 3 more days

You can do it Gin ! ! ! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  15. Aimee, I'm so excited for you, and your upcoming surgery. I'm really "list oriented" as well, and absolutely have to have control. I think that is one thing you will love about the sleeve. The sleeve has given me amazing control over food that I lost years ago. Thanks for sharing your story, and I'll be right here with you through this experience.

    Scars from Surgery

Ha ha ha Bob, I am probably one of the least modest women you'll ever meet. My scars look a little better today, but some of them look weird because of the "flabbiness" of my tummy.

    highest weight

My highest weight was in 2008 at 271. When I realized I weighed over 100lbs more than my husband, I knew I had to do something. I lied to myself about my size, squeezed my heifer hiney into size 22 pants, but should of been in 24s. I refused to look in a full size mirror, or even try on clothes. I carried my weight well, and disguised my size with clothing. No one could believe how much I weighed. I kind of think those people were just trying to be nice. I was huge. I knew I had to do something, and surgical intervention was going to work for me.

    Officially lost 100lbs

Thank you all so very much. For all of you pre-ops, please know that you can and will be successful as long as you surround your mind, body and spirit with everything positive. I know it sounds corny, but it's so true. For any of the struggling sleevesters, don't give up, get back to basics, and know that each day brings a new beginning. The sleeve is a fabulous tool, and there are so many wonderful things that come each day. I know it seems like it won't happen, or that it's impossible, but yesterday when I slid on a Medium size sweater at Old Navy I almost cried. The size 14 jeans were perfect, and those are just a couple of things that make me realize just awesome this new lifestyle is for me. My husband sneaking into the shower with me, and saying "you're so tiny" is a nice little reminder that I'm getting there day by day. I don't know what I would do without you guys and gals. This forum has been an amazing support system for me, and I'm blessed to know each and every one of you. Thank you again.
