My first cycle after surgery was horrific. I was miserable, and so very nauseated. I hope you start feeling better soon. The bloating does get better, but the first couple of cycles had me retaining water like the Hoover Dam.

Glad to hear that you are home and feeling better ! ! !

So very glad to hear that you are doing well. I hope each day gets better for you.

Woohooo, I'm glad today was better for you ! ! !

I'm sorry your week has been tough. Hopefully, tomorrow will be much better for you, and the weekend will bring some peace and joy.

I'm not sure if this is the best idea, but I love deli meat rollups for a quick lunch. I use medium sliced (at a 2-3 at the deli counter), I spread flavored cream cheese, either garden vegetable or pineapple on the ham, or chicken breast slices, and roll them up. 3 slices of ham(depending on the brand, and fat ratio in the ham) is 11-14grams of Protein, and the cream cheese is 3 grams. You can use the light or reduced fat cream cheese. I don't know the calories. I will also buy the flavored chicken strips, some avocados, and sour cream. It's like mini fajitas for one. Lots of protein, good fat source from the avocados, and I like the Daisy Light sour cream. I know this isn't something many will agree with, but I am eating anything and everything my body will tolerate because I lost so much so fast, and I'm still losing 1-2 pounds per week. So, I'll make some ground meat (93/7 meat/fat ratio) with taco or fajita seasoning, a little refried Beans, sour cream, some avocado (or mushed up with some worchestershire sauce and garlic powder for quick & cheap guacamole). I'll either eat the meat with the condiments by themself, or I'll eat it with 4-5 white corn tortilla chips. I can't eat as much of the meat if I decide to have the chips, but I'm at the stage where I'm not depriving myself if once or twice a month I want a few salty chips. **ducks and runs because I know people are going to say that I'm sabotaging myself** I also enjoy a small salad occasionally. I will typically order a side salad with a grilled chicken breast. I get a citrus balsamic vinegartette or a creamy house/italian dressing. I only eat the lettuce and chicken, and if I'm feeling frisky I'll eat a couple of croutons. I buy a lot of those bags or box of various lettuces. I prefer to buy organic and our commissary on base has a great organic section for produce. The organic seem to last longer than the cheap bag brands. I sometimes add feta cheese and almonds to the salad for texture and some extra calories. I also get the Weight Watchers Italian Calzone hot pocket things. I can only eat the inside of one of them, but they are yummy full of protein and reduced fat cheese. I don't necessarily like the breading so I throw it away. If I think of anything else, I'll shoot you a message or find this thread again.

You body may not like the whey or soy Protein in the Protein shakes. My stomach cramps with almost all the protein mixes/drinks regardless if I mix them with milk or Water. Phenegran is a great anti-emetic drug, but it can cause drowsiness. I was on Zofran, and while it is expensive, it saved me from being so sick all the time. My insurance covered the Zofran so I didn't care about the cost. I'm not sure what food stage you are on, but try to isolate what is making you nauseous. Like tomorrow, try to only drink a certain liquid, or eat one type of food. Food/ingredient intolerances are very common. I dealt with them for a couple of months, and I had a hard time trying to figure out what was triggering my nausea. Luckily, I just stuck to one flavor of Crystal light, or one flavor of Jello some days to make sure my body could tolerate them. If the next day, I tried something new, and I felt sick, I quit eatinging/drinking it.

Yes, I had severe nausea post-op. I also had horrendous gas bubbles from the C02 they use to blow up your abdomen. It travels. Try walking, and or stretching your arms over your head. That's what helped me. If it doesn't subside, please contact your surgeon immediately. I was prescribed phenegran and zofran for nausea. The Zofran is the best anti-nausea drug on the market and does not make you drowsy like phenegran does.

What stage of the post-op diet are you on at this time? Are you still on mushies, or have you progressed to soft solids/solids?

DH = Dear Husband I am not sure with the sleeve, but I had sex with my husband about 10 days post-op my band surgery. John, my husband, was deployed during my revision to the sleeve June 3rd, and he didn't get home until September 30th. From what I've heard from others, they were able to be intimate once they were pain free, and comfortable. Of course, you can't be a contortionist immediately post op, but take it easy and be gentle.

That's excellent news. It's great to have a supportive PCP.

I had 120lbs to lose to be at my first goal. I'm a mere 18lbs away, so Jenn and Thinoneday, it can be done. I never thought I'd get here so quickly. I definitely didn't expect to even lose half of it the first 6 months. But, here I am 5.5 months out, down 95 post band to sleeve revision. I only technically lost 7 lbs with the band that I had placed October 2008. Just trust in yourself, enjoy the honeymoon phase because I know mine is almost over, I am down to losing just 1-2lbs were week. And, remember that you can and will make it to goal.

Heftynetty checking in after difficult surgery
Tiffykins replied to heftynetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Janette, I'm so glad to hear that you are home, and with your family. I know how miserable the central line and drains can be. I wish you the very best, please continue to check in with us when you can. I hope you will at some point not regret doing the revision, but know how depressing and exhausting having to deal with horrendous complications. I'm here if you ever need to talk, vent or just need someone to listen. -
I'm in chat for a little bit tonight ! ! !
-
Congrats on your upcoming surgery date. Make sure to post when you can and let us all know how you are doing ! ! !
-
Ruby, I know exactly how you feel as my husband, John (also) is in the Air Force, and deployments just plain suck. My John just got home September 30th from a 6.5 month deployment. I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and if you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Ha ha Steph, I almost took a picture with my phone but the light from the window in my bathroom it wasn't coming out right. It cracked me up that I stood there glaring at my crotch in all different positions just to make sure I wasn't imagining it.
-
Thank you for the sweet comments. I'll definitely keep you in my thoughts for the best results with your upcoming surgery ! ! ! You'll do great.

The ladies will probably understand this one a little more than the guys. This is one NSV I have been waiting for the last ummmm decade or so ! ! ! This will probably cause a mental picture, but it's not gross or anything. I just wish someone could of been here to witness my reaction. Today, getting ready to head to the gym. I pulled on my new yoga type work out pants, and a tee. I was standing (with my legs together), pulling my hair back, and I noticed that I could see a tiny little triangle of light between the space between my thighs and crotch. I was so elated, it was a definite triangle of light gleeming through my legs. I kept bending over to make sure I wasn't seeing things, got on a footstool to see if it changed, I even turned around to see if I could see the light from behind. That wasn't as successful, but it was great that I saw that little light.

I was obsessed when I was seeking a revision. It felt natural for me to finally feel like your therapist described "hope" that this would work for me, and I wouldn't be in pain. Keep reading, keep posting, and we're here to support you through all of it.

Band to Sleeve Surgery tomorrow 11-9-09
Tiffykins replied to AKBarnes1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
YAY I'm glad you updated. I hope the sweating and icky feeling after eating subsides for you. -
I was wondering where the heck you ran off to, and now I know ! ! ! I'll keep you in my thoughts, and let us know what's going on with you. I wonder if this is what's been causing all that gas and discomfort.

Anyone in and out same day?
Tiffykins replied to BigLoser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't be comfortable going home after major surgery. The risk for leaks is highest within the first week, and I had 3 leak tests. I know some surgeons do this procedure on an outpatient basis, but I personally would not go home without at least 2 leak tests, and an overnight stay in the hospital. My husband was extremely supportive on my decision to have this surgery. I'm a band to sleeve revision and he was supportive of both surgeries. Neither one of us are drinkers per se, and I haven't attempted to drink anything since my sleeve surgery. I was able to drink alcoholic beverages with my band. I don't think you're crazy for wanting to live a longer, more healthy life for yourself. Tell your husband about all the joyful activities that you 2 can do after you lose the weight. Just from my personal experience, my marriage is more exciting, fun, and full of surprises due to me losing weight. We are more active in and out of the bedroom as well. There are going to be plenty of joyful things that you can share. Just get creative, and make him a list of all the great adventures you 2 can participate when you lose weight, gain more confidence, and more energy. Best wishes, and keep us posted on your progress. -
I only had one bout of constipation, and it's because I ate a bunch of cheese one day.

Thanks ! ! ! I'm definitely sticking with it. I just don't think I can fit both the spinning and strength training program into the same morning/time frame. The strength training is targeted weight lifting. It's quite interesting that I can carry in 40lbs of groceries/dog food/ or even carried around 100 extra pounds pre-op, but now doing 30lb chest press or preacher curls just about kill me. I'll be interested to see my measurements in 8 weeks. They measure us on an 8 week cycle, and I can only hope that I get results. I know it takes time, but I hope to see some results in that amount of time.
