Hey Kelsie, we're at Hurlburt Field, but live in Navarre. John has put in for a special duty assignment at Lackland for an ESS instructor so I can be close to my family and friends. I'm so glad you found me on here. It is great to have someone that knows this lifestyle. You'll do great, and your husband will be so surprised. We didn't exchange pictures while John was gone except for a couple of head shots because he wanted to be surprised. Boy, was he surprised ! ! ! Anyways, if you need anything don't hesitate to contact me on here. We won't know about the Lackland job until the first of the year. We may be there by the summer time. Good luck with your surgery, and keep me posted on your progress.

I had this very issue, and what I determined is that I was not ready for solid food so I stayed on mushies/puree food a bit longer. I still do not eat eggs. I didn't like them that much before surgery, and definitely not post-op, they made me queasy. The only way I can eat eggs is deviled eggs, and I only eat the yolk stuff. What are you trying that is making you sick? Is it meat? Is it veggies? Is it dairy products? Is food getting stuck inducing the vomitting or do you get the food down, it sit for a bit then you vomit? Are you waiting at least 30 minutes after your last bite to drink anything? Try to isolate what is causing the nausea/vomitting. I can take a tiny sip (just enough to wet my whistle) with some foods, but others, it's instant vomit episode. I have vomitted a couple of times this past week because I didn't chew something up completely. It hit my stomach, I was fine for about 30 minutes then I would burp, and with that burp there was hitchhiker of a bite of food.

I have my VSG alert written on the back of my vehicle registration/insurance cards that are in my visor, and I have a med alert card in my wallet. I still haven't called the DMV to put an alert on my DL for the clotting disorder. I probably need to get that taken care of. I'm not getting a med alert bracelet just because I'm too vain to wear one, and I have it documented in 2 different places in my vehicle and one in my wallet.

I can eat 1 slice of most medium thin/crispy crusted pizza. I'm not a big fan of pizza anymore though. We ordered pizza one time since I've had surgery, and it tasted like cardboard to me. Now, the Red Barn brickoven thin crust pizza rocks, and I enjoy one slice. The crust at the top is about 3 inches wide. If I wait about an hour, I can eat another small slice if I really want one. -

Thanks for updating us, and tell her Tiff says "hang in there, and she better get her rest so we can hang out in a couple of weeks." Glad to hear she is doing well. -
That's awesome that you had that feeling. I still haven't experienced that sensation, but I now know when to expect my period.

I would think that maybe adding some benefiber to your Water intake make help get you regular. You also may want to consider some green, leafy veggies to your diet if your doctor has cleared you for those foods. A good salad always makes me feel better, plus, it's full of folic acid which is essential part of a nutritional needs. If you aren't going to the bathroom regularly the explosive diarrhea, followed by normal bowel movements, may be contributed to the fact that you aren't going on a regular basis. I only go every 2 days, sometimes 3 days, and I eat carbs every day. I steered clear of carbs with my band as well until right before the revision. Can you tolerate yogurt or greek yogurt? It's full of Probiotics that will help your GI tract stay normal. I eat yogurt every other day for Breakfast. I don't eggs just because I do not like them. Are you drinking any plain water or crystal light? If you're drinking only caffeinated drinks, I know that contributes to my bowels moving more quickly. I limit myself to one cup of coffee every day to every other day just because I feel horrible if I consume more caffeine. If all else fails, do you have dietician or nutritionist that you can contact?

Spaghetti sauce was one of the first things I tried with ground beef. It was fabulous, I did get a bit of what I call "breakthrough" heartburn a couple of times when I first tried it, but nothing a Pepcid complete didn't resolve. Now, I have zero issues with Pasta sauce, pizza sauce, or the red stuff. We just had venison chili loaded with tomato paste, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes last week. I ate it like a champ, and had zero issues. I also eat ketchup, and salsa with zero issue. I eat lasagna with super meaty sauce, and lots of ricotta cheese. I'm not a sloppy joes fan, but I doubt I would have any issue with them. I order a footlong meatball marinara from Subway. My son eats half, and I eat the 4 meatballs with the marinara sauce, with cheeese, those mild banana peppers and ranch dressing without any problems as well. -
I need some advice because I am SCARED TO DEATH!!!

I have an 11 year old son, and we want to at least 1 other child. I had the same fears/concerns, but I knew that I would probably be too fat to enjoy grandchildren. I had faith in my surgeon, and the hospital staff that I would be well taken care of. I had horrendous complications and was in ICU for 5 days and on a ventilator due to my lungs not recovering properly after the leak repair surgery. Of course, the complications go back to being a band to sleeve revision. I had a grave prognosis, and my son and husband is the only thing that I could think of once I was brought out of the medicine-induced coma. I knew I had to get better so I could be there for them. My husbad was deployed during my surgery, and they (usaf) would not allow him to come home to be with me. I endured a hellacious recovery at home alone. My mom came to FL from TX and took my son to TX for 3.5 weeks so I could focus on my health. My son was the main reason I survived. I knew that I had to be strong for him. Caysen loves that I am smaller, more active, and participate in many more activities with him at school, and sporting events. Plus, I am not exhausted when we do venture out. I'm not sure if I answered your questions, but of course, I had concerns with having surgery, both times, but I knew if I continued on the same path, I would continue to gain weight, and die early or be plagued with conditions that would hinder my quality of life. I focused on our future, and my desire to live my life to the fullest. Regarding your concern about stomach cancer and losing your entire stomach, in some of those articles, there are plenty of patients who live with zero stomach. They "build" you a new stomach out of intestinal tissue. -
Makes complete sense to me. I'm flabby, and soft, but I can feel bones that I couldn't feel before so in my weird, skewed thinking, I'll take a bit mushy to feel/see collarbones/shoulderblades/ribs and hip bones. I'm going to try to get back to the gym tomorrow, and get back to my strength training program. Our vacation to WV for Thanksgiving, and the blood clot in my leg really kicked me out of my regimen. My problem areas are my tummy and arms. Well and the saggy boobs.

Maria, my heart absolutely breaks for you and your situation. Thank you for sharing your story, and I pray for a speedy recovery so that you may return home to your family. Please keep us posted the best you can. -
Hi Dana and welcome to VST. Congrats on getting your date, and you'll be sitting with us on the loser's bench! ! !

I would increase your Fluid intake, try pedialyte or some SF Gatorade to help with electrolyte replacement. I know you progressed with your diet, could it be related to something you ate? Have you had any more dairy than usual? If you get fever, or pain contact your surgeon immediately.

I started off at 270 with my band surgery in Oct 1,2008. Lost 23-25lbs the first 2.5 months, complications started, and I gained back a total of 18lbs. So, 7lbs lost with the band in a total of 8 months. Sleeve revision on June 3rd, I started at 263, and today I'm at 156. 6 months post revision, I've dropped 107lbs. I was wearing a 22/24W pants, a 26/28W shirt/blouse, today I wear a Medium blouse, and in between a 12/14 or size 15 junior jeans. Your goals are definitely do-able. I have a goal weight of 150 set by my surgeon, and myself. I have 6 more pounds to goal, and would like to maintain around 140-150. -
Two Weeks To Go!!!!!
Tiffykins replied to WingRider's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Bill, congrats on your upcoming surgery. We'll definitely be keeping you in our thoughts. As for the Protein shots, there is a lot of debate about the quality of protein. I used them temporarily because I had to get in some sort of protein, but they are mainly made of collagen protein which is controversial. Some say any protein is better than none. My mom uses them religiously with her band and has for 2 years. Best wishes Bill, and I hope you like the Optimum whey samples. We love the extreme milk chocolate flavor.
