Ohhhh Bernadette congrats on your size 12 ! ! ! As for the quoted portion, I've been at my journey for over 14 months, and still haven't figured out that I'm a size 9 and a medium(sometimes small blouse). I still grab bigger sizes, I still catch myself wondering how that person is who is staring back at my in the mirror. My NSV for this week is that I can now wear an anklet with an extender. I must admit that I have cute feet, and cute ankles. But, before I couldn't wear foot/ankle jewelry beause I had chubby ankles and baby sausages links for toes. Today, I decided to try out some of my old jewelry, and low and behold my little silver anklet, Caysen bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago fit, and actually slid way down past my ankle bone. I can't wait for flip flop, crop pant weather ! ! !

I'm only 7 months out, and bring home leftovers all the time. Luckily, I have a husband and son that enjoy my lunch leftovers or I eat them for a couple of days. I went out with my girlfriends for Thai food today, and brought home a huge amount of Beef Pad Thai. Luckily, it reheats well with a little Water added. The one thing I do when ordering out is always order with the "reheat" possibility in mind. Nachos suck reheated, and so do most dense meat, but I stick to the basics when ordering out. I plan and cook our family meals and have been able to cut back on all of our portions. My husband takes leftovers so he can have a hot lunch while on duty without having to eat fast food. I don't think I've ever finished a meal unless I was at home, and can control my portion size myself. Good luck with getting rid of those 10 pounds. You can do it, get back to basics, and try to stay focused. I'm considering taking up crocheting again to keep my hands busy.

The most recent thread posted by secretgarden is GONE, and she is no longer listed in the member section. There are other replies in those threads listed that have been edited and/or completely deleted. Like I stated in my first post, I understand this is a business. I comprehend the concept of making money, but at what cost is a site willing to lose it's integrity. I would consider myself an "old timer" since I joined the day the site was split-off from lapbandtalk.com However, I empathize with those struggling and Celebrate with those that have great success regardless of who performed their surgery. I contribute to this site on a very regular and daily basis. I welcome almost every new member, and attempt to provide support, and answers to those members seeking it. I'm not sure how my posts/replies could be misconstrued with rehashing old arguments and conflicts. I had my surgery performed here in Florida. I have zero ties or relationship with any of the surgeons, but I do believe that all the information should be available for review at any patient's discretion. I physically speak with several members on the forum who need someone to talk with them. I've offered to be a mentor, I've cheered on many of the post-ops through some of the same struggles. So, while I'm not offended by your accusations, I surely believe that my support and advice has been viewed by many as just that support and advice.

Docs in Dallas Area?
Tiffykins replied to Keys Pirate's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Nick Nicholson will be aftercare surgeon if we get orders to Texas. I had it narrowed down to a couple in the D/FW area. Dr. Kim in Colleyville was my 2nd choice. -
7 months post-op lab results

Thanks Creatinglee, I take these supplements: GNC Solotron Chewable Vitamin (with bioavailabel Iron): 1 chewable twice daily (These multi-Vitamins are not chalky, or "vitaminy" tasting, they taste like mixed berry, and for about 15 bucks, you get a 45 day supply by taking 2 daily) 1 - 2500 mcg sublingual B12 (I think I pay $5 for 100 tablets at Wal-Mart) I just ordered the Lemon Bite Calcet for my Calcium Citrate. I received my samples in the mail today, and they taste fabulous. They do have 40 calories, and a 7grams of carbs, but I am willing to maybe adjust my food intake to be able to consume these. It'll help with my calorie intake, and I'll just watch my carb count. I can't stress enough for all to really be mindful of your vitamin choice. I had switched a few months to an adult "gummy", and I paid for it. I was lethargic, and just down right feeling pretty lousy. Low and behold that wonderful multi-vitamin was missing some very essential minerals and vitamins. I switched by immediately, and have felt great since then. Vitamins are essential for everyone. I wish I could convince my husband to take them. -
my stomach is a total wreck. I've always suffered from GI issues during stress, and major issues. So, far today, I've choked down 1 pizza roll, and about 2oz of deli meat with 1oz of cheese. This sucks, it hurts, but we'll survive. If you all could please keep our military in your thoughts and prayers. 30 troops have been injured, and it's total devastation down there. If you want to help donate to our military, I have a list of supplies that are needed, and can give addresses for shipment of supplies. It's just been one of those day.

List of can and can't eat pre-op?
Tiffykins replied to KRYSTL166's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Holy wow, I totally misread the title. Sorry that I posted a post-op diet. My pre-op diet for both my band and revision was 1 week of low carb/high Protein. -
I confess that I'm on an emotional roller coaster, and I personally just don't care about much anymore. I confess that I have got to stop watching CNN or my rollercoaster is going to get worse. I confess that I really want to just cry, but I can't shed a single tear at this point. I confess that I dread his phone ringing. I confess the "see ya later" is going to tear me and Caysen apart. I confess that we all finally adjusted to him being home, and now it's all changing again. I confess that I know all will be okay, but that doesn't make me feel any better at this moment. I confess that I shouldn't be whiney, and am consumed with frustration and actually mad at myself for allowing this to effect me so negatively. I confess that I need to " Let go, and Let God".

Made it to Mexicali, surgery in the morning

YAY Barbara ! ! ! I've got y'all in my thoughts, and I'll be watching for your update. . . -
Thank you so much DeeDee and everyone else as well. . . Y'alls word mean a lot to me. I was able to eat a little bit tonight for dinner. I took Caysen out for fajitas at our local mexican joint. I ate a bunch of carmalized onions, and about 2oz of fajita chicken with sour cream. I just hate that my stomach is so irritated. It's one of those things I didn't really think about, but I would almost venture to guess this contributed to my eating issues and nausea through the recovery phase of my revision. I have the most emotional sleeve in the world.

Yeppers Laura, I roll them up together. Today, I had 1 slice of smoked chicken breast with a 1/2 slice of pepperjack cheese. A lot of the times, I roll up cream cheese inside a piece of deli meat. My absolute favorite is honey ham with pineapple cream cheese. It's the only pork that I eat now. I also put a tiny squirt of miracle whip or honey mustard on the deli meat with cheese. Once you get to the stage where you can lettuce, bib lettuce is fabulous for lettuce roll ups. I have lots of little snacks that I should post on here for others to enjoy. I'll get a list together and compile a blog entry of my "meals" that I used to shake up the monotony of the "diet".

Tiffykins replied to KRYSTL166's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
This is Dr. Aceves post-op diet, I added a few things that were on my list as well. I used this for other ideas as I was getting bored with the limited options on my plan. Of course, once you decide on a surgeon, ensure this diet is "okay". POST-OP DIET: Here are a few ideas concerning the post op diet Day 1 thru 5 ( Clear liquids Only ) fruit juice ( apple, grape, cranberry ) Propel broth Jello-O Water Tea Protein Water by Kellogg’s Water popsicles Clear Protein drinks only ( example Isopure, unjury ) Low Sugar Gatorade called G2 Day 6-10 ( thin liquids ) All of the above and: Natural Vegetable Juices ( example Carrot, V-8 juice ) Protein drinks mixed with water ( example Matrix ) whey nectar Protein Mix Day 11 thru 20 ( full liquids ) Cream Soups Yogurt Jello-O Boiled pureed fruit ( example apple, pear) applesauce Watermelon, papaya or melon in small pieces Low fat milk 1 or 2% Water, Propel, tea Soy beverages sugar free pudding Protein shakes and protein powders mixed with milk Day 21 thru 30 ( soft food ) Soft food should be the consistency of a thick liquid ( no chunks or solid material ) and it should be chewed very well before swallowing until it is a liquid consistency ) Tofu Low fat cottage cheese Cereal oatmeal Precooked pureed rice Low fat Yogurt Yogurt mixed with fruit very well blended Cream soups eggs Boiled pureed fruit ( example pear, apple ) Watermelon, papaya or melon in small pieces Boiled pureed vegetables Beans Day 31st and beyond ( solid food ) Fish, Chiken meat Turkey Vegetables Fruit A diet consisting of 800 calories and 70 grams of protein should be your goal. There is a book called " Weight loss Surgery for Dummies" Authors: Kurian, Thompson and Davidson You might find it helpful. I contains several recipes and ideas on what to eat after surgery Grilled Marinated Tuna with Lime Herbed Beef Patties Turkey Meatballs Seafood salad chicken Salad -
feeling down and doubtful...
Tiffykins replied to Rgodinez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me just say that some of that information is definitely highly questionable, if not all together false. I would recommend that you research gastrectomies for cancer and ulcerative condition patients as these surgeries have been performed since the early 1900's. There are 1000's upon 1000's of gastrectomies performed every year across the world, and the majority of patients live a normal, healthy, and fulfilling life. I've read on here, and other places where people's stomachs have been completely removed due to cancer, and it did NOT affect them in the way that your uncles have described. The complications can cause death, but so can having your appendix removed. If that person died with a sleeve, I'm sure there is more to the story such as complications with the sleeve, or non-compliance on the patient's part of the post-op diet. I am full of energy, my sex life is fabulous (my husband is beyond amazed how different it is with his "skinny" wife), and I only go to the bathroom )bowel movements every day or every other day with normal bm's every time. Lastly, the band is NOT reversible. This is the biggest crock of crap with the band (and I've had both the band & sleeve). Once that band is placed around your stomach, your anatomny is forever changed. Yes, the band can be removed, or unfilled, but please believe your stomach tissue is not the same as pre-band. I don't believe those stories. I'm sorry, I'm not saying your family is lying, but I do believe there are big time holes in the stories, and a lot of information is being left out. Don't ever wonder about offending anyone here with questions that may seem personal. We're all adults, and believe me, we all have some kind of crazy/personal/"too much information" at some point throughout our journey. This is just my opinion, but ignorance is bliss in this situation. Ignorance causes fear. Lack of knowledge on the surgery will only cause them to be concerned, but once you give the information and educate them, maybe they will see how the sleeve is very successful, and actually safer than the band years out. My mom and younger brother both have the band. They both just deal with all the typical band problems and think the sleeve is wreckless. But, my quality of life is so much better than puking up 2-4 times a week, and pain in my abdomen. Education is power, I would suggest having your uncles get a hold of documented cases, and information before forming an opinion and trying to scare you. -
Anyone heard from Stoongal, and her family
Tiffykins posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm really surprised we haven't had any threads from stoongal or her 2 family members that recently had surgery. Anyone been able to contact them to ensure they are all doing well? I know they should be back by now, and Donna is usually on the boards fairly regularly. Just want to let y'all know we're all thinking of you all, and hope you are recovering well. Let us know how everything went, and how y'all are doing ! ! ! -

Self pay from Tx!Cheap Dr.?
Tiffykins replied to KRYSTL166's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Krystl and welcome to VST. I hope you are able to get some pricing from people who have used surgeons in the Dallas area. I'm just going to throw this out there, but please don't choose a surgeon solely based on price. Consider all of his/her experience, the after-care, and support system that is provided. I know how difficult it is to be obese, and wondered all of those same things about dating, my son's friends making fun of him, but you have to learn to love yourself. This surgery is a great tool, but I won't sugarcoat it and tell you that it's easy. There are many ups and downs, and emotions that go along with it. Many successes but there are tough days. Dr. Nick Nicholson is my choice of surgeon for Dallas just based on his experience, and reviews from many patients. I'm originally from TX, and if the Air Force ever sends us there, he will be my top choice as an after care provider. -
I made my favorite venison chili this evening, and thought I would share how much I can eat and what it actually looks like. It takes me about 20 minutes to eat this amount of chili. 1 cup of chili w/ 2 tbsp. shredded cheese and 3 saltine crackers. These little bowls are fabulous. They measure 2 cups evenly. They came in a set of bowls in various sizes made by Reynolds. They are to-go bowls found near the Gladware stuff in most retail stores. Nutritional info on the chili: Serving size 1 cup 395 calories 51 grams Protein 14 grams of fat 12 grams of carbs Crackers 36 calories 7 carbs 1 fat 1 protein Shredded Fiesta Cheese 1/3cup (I only used 2 measured tbsp): 110 calories <1 gram carb 6 grm Protein 9 grm Fat

My Last Supper... And Emotions...
Tiffykins replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
From my understanding, PPI's such as Nexium, Prilosec, or Protonix can interfere with the absorption of B12. I take 1 sublingual B12 2500mcg daily. I'm also on 20mg Prilosec once daily. My multi-Vitamin also supplies 250% of the daily value recommended of B12. I've never had any issues with my B12 being too high or too low.
