Hi! What questions did you have about your surgery?
gabybab replied to mlmx1138's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This surgery has been life saving for me. My diabetes (severe before surgery) is now mostly in remission. I'm pretty active and exercise now. Before I was so sedentary and never exercised. I've lost 73 pounds. You can do this and it will be life changing. Best wishes on your journey! Let us know! -
I ran a temp of just over 100. One time it was 100.8. I had to go to the Er 2x due to being dehydrated. I'm not sure if it means anything (I did ok) but, it is best to call the Dr right away and get advice. Take care!

I agree with you. I would be outraged that they didn't care before you lost the weight. Just today my sil stopped by and commented I was getting skinny. Hardly, I have 85 pounds to go. I hate her making a fuss over it. A story I must tell. My son whom is 35 and a body builder. He took his fitness to extremes and still does. He does worry me because he takes steroids and ended up with chf when he was about 21. They thought he had a heart attack. This lifestyle is unhealthy for him, imho. If you are enjoying it and it keeps you occupied and on the right track I say go for it and tell them to not worry about it, or even say it like you told us. Honesty will get them to back off. Enjoy your hard earned weightloss and new found passion!

Asking older sleevers, did I make a mistake?
gabybab replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nice! Glad you have had a loss. Our bodies just seem to need a break from losing. I'm at almost 73, but have so far to go. I need to lose 87 more pounds to get to my Dr's goal which would leave me with a lot of hanging skin, so I guess that's why he says 180. Your trip sounds so wonderful! Never been there, but we are planning a month of just traveling the United states in 2 years one my husband can retire part time, so will definitely checking NOLA off our list! I had myself a b52 coffee about a month ago and was out of this world! Tonight my daughter is making pina coladas and trying to tempt me, but my calories are at 1200 and I don't wanna add more sugar, so wah for me🤪 Glad you're losing again and I know it's frustrating losing so slow. I weigh so much more and only lost about 6 pounds in June and about 5 this month. We will look back in 6 months and we will both be closer to the finish line! Wishing you all the best! Edit: I checked my Fitbit, I weigh in there, and I lost 5.1 for June and I lost 7.3 do far this month. Hoping to get to 10, but who knows? I would be happy with 5 pounds a month, that would put me near goal. -
Weight loss in feet?
gabybab replied to Butterfly#7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I've gone down 1 size. When I was thin I was even 1.5 sizes smaller than now. -
Asking older sleevers, did I make a mistake?

I just wanted to update that I have begun losing weight again. I have lost 5 pounds this past 10 days or so. Stalls are so crazy scary and no matter all the posts on here about it, I know in my head they happen. I see them a lot and think to my self, Wow they need to relax, it will come off. It's hard to weigh repeatedly the same weight for over 2 weeks and not get freaked out that this might be the end. Thank you all for listening and responding!!💗 -
February 2019 weight loss buds

Congrats! So nice to feel better and not being recognized, that is amazing!!! Goody, did you have surgery on 2-25? That was my date. -
I have chronic back pain and losing 72 pounds has not made any difference. I have 5 bulging discs that seem to not be getting any better. It sucks!

I am so sorry. I know firsthand how you feel. I'm losing hair at an alarming rate. I started with a lot if hair, but I bet I have lost almost half my hair. People find my hair everywhere and comment about it. I'm taking biotin, using biotin shampoo as well. I'm scared like you. I may also have to start wearing a baseball hat. Search hair loss. People say it is only temporary. I hope for us both it doesn't last long. 🤢

7 days till surgery! August 1
gabybab replied to lynest1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is not an easy road at first, in fact I had serious buyers remorse for a couple weeks. With every day that passes it gets easier and eventually becomes a whole new lifestyle. Know that it gets easier and you will love that you look better, are healthier and have more energy. You will start to love life and love buying new smaller clothes. Wishing you all the best on your journey! -
February 2019 weight loss buds

5 months post-op today and down 72 pounds. It feels a lot better and I'm having more energy. I'm having trouble with my stomach. I can't really explain it, but is lower and possibly a burning feeling. It comes and goes and only lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. My 6 month follow up is in exactly 4 weeks and I will speak to my PA. We discussed it before and she said she would do a scope if it continued. So, I will be asking to do the scope. I take protonix daily, although I have missed it a few times. I sure hope it stops and won't have to do a revision. My Dr wanted me to do the DS, but I said no. However, I guess I might consider if this continues. I still have to lose 84 pounds to get to goal, and definitely will need plastic surgery on my arms, stomach and breasts. Hope everyone is in a good place and may we all continue to do well! Love this group!💕🤸♀️ -
I had to do 5 monthly visits. I have Medicare.
-
I had severe hip pain and had steroid shots, it helped tremendously. Maybe try alternating ice and a heating pad. Not sure otherwise.

I'm 5 months out today too! Congrats on your success!

I’m having surgery tomorrow and I just want to know...
gabybab replied to 12345shs16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you will be able to eat these things, but only in moderation and should eat healthier versions of food. Always eat protein first and then eat other vegetables and fruit. However, I have been able to eat 1 slice of pizza on occasion. I ate half a Turkey burger last weekend for a special occasion. It was the first time since surgery I ate a bun. I will not do this often, because I'm trying to lose still. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow! You won't regret it! -

Sleep Apnea worries, child mad I’m getting the surgery...words of advice/encouragement needed
gabybab replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My son was a vocal opponent of my surgery. My son had body issues when he was young. He was a bit stocky and was teased. Today he is 35 and has dedicated his life to making his body something to be envied by most people. He told me the same thing, to just diet. But, when you weigh over 300 pounds, it is not that easy. Your son will get on board once he sees your able to lose weight and keep it off. It is not easy all the time, but, I would do it over again. Zero regret!💯 -
Has anyone heard of Malabsorption Gastric Bypass
gabybab replied to Sharon B A's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It sounds like he did the gastric bypass part of the duodenal switch and not the sleeve part. Like people have said, you will do great with gastric bypass. I had the sleeve done and have lost almost 7e pounds. My Dr wanted me to do the DS, however for now, I chose to do only the sleeve part. Good luck! Let us know how you do. -
February 2019 weight loss buds

I finally started losing a little faster the last week. These stalls are stressful! I have 87 pounds STILL to go to my Dr's weight. I think if I lose that much, it will get a good weight, as I suppose I will have extra hanging skin that will weight a bit. Good luck to us all in achieving our goals. Please check in!! -

I seriously had to zoom in and try and see where these "lumps" are. I couldn't find them! If my stomach looked like this, I would be showing it off! It looks great!! -
5 months post-op and have lost so much hair. Thank God I had a lot to start. I can see and feel new hair all over my head.
