Surgery release question
gabybab replied to sunsetchaser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uber or maybe hire a person to pick you up? Good luck! -
I have Medicare and was sleeved 10 weeks ago. I had to do: 1. 5 nutrition appts-first one immediately and one each month for 4 months 2. Ekg 3. Bloodwork 4. Physc evaluation 5. Upper GI, some do endoscopy, but I had one recent to my surgery. I also had to take several classes along with seminar, meet the surgeon and pre-OP appt. It took me almost 8 months, but only costs $250 and no cost for the nutrition appts. Good luck!

Hi! Today I reached a milestone. I've lost 50 pounds, which I have never done in my life. I once lost 30, but gained it back plus eventually 50 more. I'm going to buy myself a waterproof Fitbit. I started wearing one 3 weeks ago that my husband got me for Christmas, as he knew I wanted one for after surgery. He got me the Alta, but it's not waterproof. Also, I'm interested in buying a scale that measures body fat. I have no idea how they work or the first thing to look for. Any tips are welcome. Thank you!

I was very sedentary before surgery and it's really encouraging to see how many steps I can take and calories burned a day. I also pair it with my fitness pal. Love it!
-
Fitbit! Look forward to seeing you succeed! I'm going to follow you so I can see your outcome!
-
Really? I do not know the first thing about scales that measure body fat. How is it even possible? Thanks for the tip! I must get one! I love my fitbit!

I'm no Dr, but once they clear this issue up, I bet you would be a great candidate for surgery. It should make your health better! Good luck!

Yes, they may catch on. Maybe wait till after your surgery so they wont give you unsolicited advice. People can be very judgemental and cruel. My Dr suggested the DS. I went with the sleeve though. Since surgery I have lost 50 pounds and and my diabetes is lowering. I only take 20mg of Lantus at night. My bs is still about 145 average, but I expect it to get better with more weight loss. Best decision I've ever made. Good luck!

I have severe heat intolerance. Ms.sass is right. I was so terribly cold after surgery. Abnormal for me as I sweat all the time and causes oily skin and scalp. I have thick hair and really should shampoo everyday, but use a dry shampoo for the second day. I've noticed I still sweat, like today I was at the Dr and I was stressed about not being able to hook onto their wifi, they changed the username and password. I was sweating so bad. sometimes I feel like it is stress. But, I'm definitely cooler overall. I wish you much success and feeling cooler.

I had robotic gastric sleeve. I was done at a center of excellence. I've had some bumps in the road, but nothing major. I think you will be in great hands! Congratulations! Best wishes!

People speak of having no pain afterwards, but for me it was horrific pain. Now I will tell you I have had 5 abdominal surgeries and this was the worst. I was on pain medicine for a full 10 days and round the clock for 7 days. I too, had trouble laying on my side. I laid on my back mostly. If I took both pain medicines I could somewhat lay on my side. The good news is it gets better in about a weeks time. I hope you feel better soon!

I stalled for a month. I finally lost 6 pounds in April. You will get there!

How to Tell Supervisor About Time Off Needed
gabybab replied to Maiafw93's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Can you talk to your HR dept? I can certainly understand wanting to keep it private. I'm unfortunately am an open book. I dont care who knows. I was 339 pounds, so I knew people would know just by rapidly losing. Even people at my grocery store noticed lol Good luck! -
I would say 1 yogurt, some refried beans and 1/4 c cottage cheese. It was difficult to eat still.

Yes, you look awesome!

Postmenopausal before surgery...spotting!
gabybab replied to Kathy1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a hysterectomy but my PA told me that the fat stores hormones and as you lose it secretes them. Could possibly be the cause? Thinking good thoughts for you! -
I bought one about 4 months ago and haven't used it yet. Better get on it, because this sounds great! How many grams is 150 to ounces? I bought a food scale and haven't used that either yet. I'm not much of a cooker and buy a lot of prepared foods, which is probably not the best idea. I do however keep it simple.

BELITE WEIGHTLOSS JUAREZ MX
gabybab replied to JMAC3467's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would reccomend Dr Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana. I know he had been doing weight loss surgery for years. I've heard he is little more expensive and I'm not sure if he's affiliated with this company. If it was me. I would chose him. Best of luck! -
February 2019 weight loss buds
gabybab replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think you should be flattered. I haven't had anyone look my way since becoming so heavy. About 30 pounds less than I am now, I stopped into a convenience store before work. A guy came up to me and said, your beautiful and said I should join the site BBW=big beautiful women. Not a hit since, about 10 years ago. Lol I've been married 33 years so I'm not interest in flattery. Congrats on your weight loss Eveything! -
February 2019 weight loss buds

That's funny! -
Was eating mostly fish, shrimp and beef. Will be watching my diet.

So, I've developed gout from the high protein diet. The provider came to my home and diagnosed me. She prescribed me prednisone because my toe is all swollen. Took half a pill at noon and dinner bs was 228. My foot feels way better, but I have neuropathy and now my feet are burning. To take the steroids or stop? I think stop. I can deal with the pain and try and eat a low purine diet. Anyone else deal with these things due to surgery?

I was eating steak and a lot of shrimp, both high in purines. I'm going to do a gout diet.
