Post OP care in us after surgery in Mexico
gabybab replied to Katieshmay's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, he is the one I would chose if I needed to go to Mexico. Excellent choice! -
I took only my phone. I wore the same clothes in and out of the hospital. The only other thing is a toothbrush.

3 weeks post op & craving food in my head
gabybab replied to rubidogita's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It will get better. I dont think I tried tuna till I was a month post-op. eith time you can increase volume. Now I could comfortably eat a tuna packet, although that's my max. You will get there and it will be more enjoyable. good luck! -
3 weeks post op & craving food in my head

It's really hard afterwards, I totally can relate, but it gets better. Your dream cracked me up -
I'm guilty of comparing myself to others. It is a great amount of weight, but try not to get down about the amount too much. Everyone loses different. There are people that are way ahead of me and I'm behind them. Best luck on your journey.

Waiting period for insurance... is this the norm with most?
gabybab replied to MysticHippie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have UHC as well. Weird that they have different requirements. Maybe because we are different states? Have you had your surgery yet? Mine took almost 8 months due to the holidays. -

I just had my surgery and had Medicare and had to do 5 in a 4 month period. I also, gained 8 pounds in 8 months. I'm not sure how. -
I an so glad my nutritionist forewarned me about having regrets. I did go through this as well in the first couple weeks when it was the hardest. Do I regret it now 3 months out? NO!! I would best you will feel better in the next month and see the benefits are so worth it!

What will satisfy my head hunger?!
gabybab replied to Peachgodd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I understand. It's totally tough at first. I thought I made a big mistake at first, but know I've lost almost 60 lbs and can enjoy small amounts of good food. It's an adjustment, but I'm getting used to it and I'm motivated to do better. Hang in there! -
What will satisfy my head hunger?!

Oh, I know this feeling! It's really rough the first month. Food didn't bother me till the 5th day and was obsessed with looking at recipes. I know if it was me, I would want to swallow that burger, so for me, I wouldn't have done it. Honestly, it probably would be really painful at this point. By the beginning of the 3rd week I was getting small amounts of protein. I'm 3 months out and can eat about 3/4 cup at a time. I wish you all the best! -
I had these thoughts as well. I was stranded for 3 weeks at the same weight. Thank goodness I have lost 15 pounds since then. I certainly understand the thinking. We just have to be positive. Good luck! I bet you will do great!💯💕

I was given sucralfate and started taking protonix 2x a day.

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
gabybab replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Fluffy try to be kinder. This woman seems to be going through a lot. She needs our compassion, not to gang up on her! -
I was in terrible pain and went in. They gave me oral lidocaine and mylanta. My pain went away immediately after that. She said she thought it was an ulcer. I had a endoscopy after that and said I had gastritis. I know the pain. Hope you feel better!

weird question
gabybab replied to Mariella Josphef's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's just very dangerous at your stage and people are worried you could do something really bad to your stomach. Stick to the diet, in time you will be able to have regular food. I understand not wanting to say anything. But, a better choice is to tell her or call and say you can't make it. Good luck! -
weird question
gabybab replied to Mariella Josphef's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure how these people managed this. I was by far not perfect, but I could hardly get a but of yogurt down starting my 3rd week. -
What brand multivitamin do you use? Does it have all the needs for bariatric patients? Thanks!
-
I have bariatric fusion w/iron. They are horrible. I couldnt take vitamins fill the 8th day. Took them for 8 days and switched to procare. Big pill, but has everything I need.

Taste changes or food sensitivities after surgery
gabybab replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me water tasted sweet immediately after surgery. It was awful! Also, whey protein, which I could tolerate before surgery, I could no longer stand the smell of. It made me gag. -
Costco has individual packets. I'm sorry I don't know the calories, but saw them sampling them today while I was there. I still drink Core or smart water at 3 months out. Good luck!
