Hello Everyone! I'm new to this site and have not been banded yet. I havebeen researching the procedure, looking into cost, doctors, ect. I need all
the great advise anyone is willing to give. My main concern is that my current weight may not be high enough to qualify according to what I've
read. I am currently 198 lbs. 33 BMI. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
My goal is to be at 130 lbs. I've been trying to get rid of this weight for
18 years, but seem to be going higher and higher. I need a safe alternitive
to the prescription drugs that I've been batteling with for years.
I was almost exactly like you, except I m alot shorter i bet ....lol I had co morbitites on my side though, but I think if you have the money you can get it done they never even weighed me when I had the surgery:) I went to de la garza in Monterrey mexico and I had a postive experience and IM just over 6 months and pretty much a "normal" BMI now:D

I was banded in Mexico and Im from Canada, I had a bariatric surgeon 2 hrs away from me and I made sure before I got banded that he would do the after care stuff like fills, any major problems would have to be cared for by my mexican dr or pay the money here in canada

What your eating and drinking is a huge question only you can answer.... GO BACK TO THE BASICS , start again and eat like you have just been banded. Also up your exercise amount ALOT MORE, you wanna loose you have to do cardio at least 20 mins a day MINIMUM. The fill shouldnt be the only thing that makes you loose the weight, everyone rely's way too much on the fill. I am a 4 cc band and have had 2 fills and I am full to the brim, I have to loose the weight mainly on exercise or eating habits, also I find that I think I'm hungry but really thirsty and this happens all the time. GOOD LUCK

I just had my 6 month bandiversary oct4/06 and have gotten down to 127 which makes my BMI 24 I would like to get the last 7 pounds off but we'll see, I already passed my personal goal of 130 so I just should just be thankful where I am

I had one repaired about a year ago. It bulges and I would get a nasty painful cramping in my stomache, it did hurt. I had two pregnacies one was a twin birth and I carried most my weight on the belly. After it was fixed it was ok. I wonder what its like now after all the weight loss?? any pressure there bothered it to , I was also the one to diagnose it cause of my pain symptoms, I looked it up online.

I went to De la Garza :-) I liked him, and I didnt dare eat my last BIG meal, I was way to nervous about surgery the next morning. I had a good experince there. I was about a 35 BMI and I will be 6months on OCT 4th :-) I am currently weighing 127 , but I am short ...lol I am now a normal weight but still would like to be about 120. GOOD LUCK GIRLS

Was that the claim to have the band paid for or the fills ? Im wondering if they will even pay for the fills......wtf does blue cross pay for ???!!!!....LOL not a heck of a lot in my opinionPacific Blue Cross just denied my claim :-(Marie

hmmm not really , I think that its the same as before, wich I thought is weird and my first fill was like that too and then it got tighter. I think Im like some others and I just stop before I have that uncomfortable feeling and Ive been slowing down more too.
-
well I just had it done and I know last time he filled my half full 2cc's and I though hmmm its not that bad , but then after a few days about 6 it got tight. For a long itme it was good. Ive lost more weight and I think it naturally got loose. So give your band time Im sure it will tighten up. Im gonna wait and see if it will , and I know stress and exercise does it to me anyway . I cant eat chicken cause its too big and I do eat fast , adn confuse hunger for thirst

Im the same way as you . Im eating between 1000-1300 and I have to be alot less for intake even though I go to the gym 4 days a week and I just got a fil yesturday and my band if full now, I only have about 10-15 to go to goal soooo Im hoping it works
-
I have a 4 cc band and just got a fill yesturday, I had about 2cc's in it and then he added 3.3cc's so its more than 5, sooooo It hold s a lot

I went to mexico but had a freind and I was going to go alone but she ended up coming in the end. I was bound and determined to go alone or not. I ended up having to stay long though mainly cause of the flight availability sucked. I did ok and I think I would have been ok alone and prob wouldve rested alot more .....lol. Id do it again and Id go alone too. SOOOOO GOOD LUCK YOU will do awesome and the harder something is to do the better the reward
