Where are the November Sleevers?
melodyssss replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 11/18/2014. Started around 340 lbs. and now i am at 229. (so down about 110 pounds since surgery) I have also hit a terrible wall. I have been stuck for a few weeks at least and am having a hard time because i have been eating too many carbs and letting the sugars back in. I know what i need to do.. go back to proteins and back to basics.. but i am struggling to do it. I do work out at least 4 times a week; hence i haven't gained. Uggh.. hoping to get my head back in the game.. i would like to at least get down to 170lbs. Anyone else feeling these struggles? -

Post-Op Liquid Diet
melodyssss replied to JessicaLauren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked the ready mixed Chocolate Primier Protein shakes from walmart or costco before surgery. After surgery my tastes changed and I only like the Unjury Chocolate Splendor that you order online and mix in a shaker. Best of luck to you and Congrats! -

10 days before surgery - having anxiety and doubts, help!
melodyssss replied to 2NewBeginningsxoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are feeling is totally normal. I went through the same emotions.. even up to the time i was on the gurney getting ready for surgery. For me, I prayed about the surgery from the beginning of the process and asked God to close the door if the surgery wasn't for me. He opened every door from the insurance approval to the actual surgery itself. So deep down i knew that this was something i needed to do for my health. I am 2 1/2 months out and i don't regret it at all. I still go out to eat with my family. I just eat alot less and pay attention to getting the Protein in first. The good thing is, i can just eat off their plates or i just order a Soup so you get off cheaper. LOL. Before surgery i couldn't walk to the end of my street without being totally wiped out. Now i either walk 3-4 times around my block or walk on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes and i am feeling great. So, just to reassure you what you are feeling is normal. And yes, this is a big change, but once you start dropping the pounds it gets kind of exciting. I urge you to pray about it and go with your gut. :-) -
Help! Everything makes me sick!
melodyssss replied to Browneyedgirl818's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Post surgery i couldn't stand any of the protein shakes i was okay with pre-op. I ended up ordering the UNJURY chocolate Splendor protein powders and had alot better luck with those. Best of luck. -
The two weeks before surgery my diet consisted of protein shakes and soup broths. I was also allowed one protein bar a day, but i didn't really like them so i didn't bother.

Probiotics - do you notice any difference?
melodyssss replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I took pro-biotics for a few weeks post op because i was having diarrhea issues. They didn't seem to help me. I was taking culturelle pills. -

Eclectik- you sound exactly like me. I had my sleeve surgery on nov 18th. I have had loose stool/ diarrhea since. My surgeon had me tested for c diff and that was negative. I ended up having to get three bags of iv fluids because I got dehydrated about 3 weeks out. I went back to the surgeon the other day and he said he wants me to take probiotics for awhile to see if it helps. By the way, I even switched to lactaid milk because I thought maybe making my shakes with regular milk was causing it, but that was no help. My dr was confused too because most have constipation issues post op.

Scars are red and itchy
melodyssss replied to alyssadietrch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also had mine in nov. The 18th. My incisions got really rashed out red circles around them and itched like crazy. My surgeon removed the surgical glue because he felt it was probably an allergic reaction to either that or the dissolvable stitches inside the incision. It took about another week and then cleared up. -
I had my sleeve surgery Nov 18th. I was feeling well with the exception of loose stools for the past couple of weeks up until about 5 days ago. I just seem to have gotten worse. I get nauseous and dizzy if I am up for very long and i get stomach cramping diarrhea shortly after I eat. I've tried switching to lactaid milk in case it's from lactose intolerance but I don't think that's it. I did call my surgeons office and am going in tomorrow morning. I haven't been able to take my vitamins the past several days because they make me sick. I feel weak. I wanted to know if anyone has had C Diff post op. I was reading that these are some of the symptoms. I'm hoping not. But if anyone has had that can you fill me in on your symptoms and what the treatment was. Thank you

Anyone have C Diff post op?
melodyssss replied to melodyssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Kindle, My surgeon sent me to the er to work me up for c diff and it came back negative. The also gave me 3 bags of iv fluid saying I was a little dehydrated. They also checked to see if maybe I had a uti and that was also negative. I came home with a prescription for Imodium. Been taking it but I am still getting the cramping and diarrhea. I hadn't read your post yet about you having two tests show different results but I go back next Wednesday so I am going to ask the dr. Thanks for the info. -

Hello all- Here are my stats: Surgery date: 11/18/2014 Pre op: 339 lbs Day of surgery: 325 lbs Current: 312 lbs Down 27 lbs! Everything has been going really well up until today. For some Reason after I chewed my Vitamin i got sick several minutes later and was vomiting. Been kind of blah feeling the rest of the day. How is everyone doing sticking to the good stages ? I admit i had some mashed potatoes on thanksgiving and a bite of yam (added milk and squished both up good). Trying to stay on phase 2 stuff but boy am I ready for stage 3. -
Has anyone has any problems with their vitamins? I took my compete vitamin chewable just a bit ago and then a few minutes later I felt sick to my stomach and threw it up. I am 11 days post op.. Kind of worried because I hope this isn't the start of something. Uggh kind of scared!

What are some cream soups for post op
melodyssss posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I had my surgery on Tuesday. It's says I can have cream based soups. What would be some good cream based soups. I was thinking cream of broccoli because I like it, but was thinking maybe it would cause gas and not be a good choice? Anyone have any suggestions. I won't be making it homemade it will either be from a can or a restaurant. Thanks for advice -
Congrats! Glad everything went well! I have my surgery tomorrow morning.

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!
melodyssss replied to MS_Science_Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on Nov 18th.. only a few days away. My pre-op diet has gone well for the most part; however, i did have a few cheats (after doing well on only Protein shakes all day) where i at the small pieces of chicken and vegetables that were in my Soup. Only supposed to have broth.. and i did have a steak street taco one night. I've had my protein shakes other than that. I am down about 12-15 pounds. I see other people who are allowed veggies, sugar free popsicles, chicken breasts, etc.. .so hopefully i will be ok. Wishing you fellow November sleevers all the best !
