Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I had my band on 28 Janauary 09 and have lost 12kg and had my first fill last week. It has been 5 days since fill and still feeling hungry. I am due to go back at end of month. However I have not lost any further weight which is disapointing. My surgeon told me this is normal and the band needs adjusting. Bit of a downer as was going along merrily and then came to a sudden halt. However Dr said not to feel guilty as this is all normal and we keep on working on the fills until we get the right combination. He does not want to give me a quick fix as this leads to all sorts of complications. Fingers crossed this fill or the next will kick start as I have my eye on a nice little black number at my favourite shop

Hi all, have been 1 week eating normal food. Have been wary as dont want to get things stuck don't want to stretch anything. Have lost 12kg and going for first fill on 5 March. It is so nice to be "normal"again. Got so tired of soup but notice I still use soup as a saftey place for me as trying to adjust to different feelings in the body and trying to identify what is normal pain and what is hunger. I do notice that I can't eat as much but still get starving sensations so tend to eat little but often 6x per day. Back at the Gym and feeling great, did spin class today and felt tired but good.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi all, had my band on 28th January 2009 and into second week. Went to Dr for check up and all on track and due for my first fill in 4 weeks. I am on thick liquid (as long as it can go up a straw) and then progress to mushy:biggrin: Starting to feeling hungry about an hour after having 3/4cup of soup or smoothie. Anyone feeling this and any suggestions. I am taking about 500-800 calories per day now. I will rember the pinapple juice should anything get stuck.

What you eat on an average day?

HI, I am in New Zealand and it appears we had our surgery same day and I was 125kg:biggrin: I pretty much had been eating what you have but would add then Iwould maybe have a protein smoothie or ready made protein drink in the evening. I am drinking about 1.5 litre of water and also half cup prune juice. I carry the water everywhere I go. I am on the second week which is thicker but smooth, next week is mushy and 4th week soft food. some days find I am hungry and dr suggested I eat 6 small amounts per day, 1/2 cup portions but along as I was also including protein. Had first check up and everything seems to be going ok:thumbup:

Had first check up today and all going well, my first fill is scheduled for 5 March. I am on second week and have progressed the thicker soups etc ( as long as it can go up a straw). Next week I progress to mushy food and the 4th week is soft food. Starting to feel bit hungry but doing ok. Went back to work last two days and felt bit tired on day 1. Hard to maintain eating reguarly so need to be more onto having things at work as well. My incisions on the stomach have healed and hardly noticable. Looking forward to being "normal" again and going to a resturant and eating normal food
  6. HI, I found having a bootle of water with me at all times and sipping on it would ensure I got a least 500ml into me. I also supplemented this with apple juice, prune juice and kiwifruit juice. This will also help with the bowles. I hadnt been for a few days and got the chemist to mix me something which worked a treat. It was amazing how good I felt afterwards and the gas seemed to ease. I make sure I take somthing to assit with my bowels everyday. I was in agony when I burped but as my mother said better out than in. It does getter better once you keep shifting the gas. My doctor told me to take small sips of water through out the day not try to drink all at once but I think you need to increase your water as this will also help with bowels. I am in day 6 and have moments wandering what I have done but then remember that a few weeks of discomfort will lead to a life time of happiness:)

Hi, will look to get some Jello, my fridge has some many liquid foods that there is no room for my husband food:) I thought long and hard about who I told and then decided that i would tell my family, friends and some work colleagues. They have all been really supportive and asked what they could do to support me. I have also shared with them the eating tips that my dietician has given me and also the converstion with my specialsit about why dieting dosnt work anymore and why some people need some extra help. I choose to do this when I watched a documentary on the surgeon and some of the finds regarding obesity and also the use of lapband surgery for some people with diabetes and how they are now no longer needing to take the insulin but can maintain it through diet. havent told my husband family and dont think I will. WE will be visiting them in europe in July and we will see how I feel then. Does anyone feel like they have no energy and have you come up with a cure.
  8. Today is day 6 and was feeling ok but have have no energy and feeling as if it is day 1 of surgery. My husband said I am not taking enough calories to give energy. I am drinking protein smoothies and soups. I still get the hunger pangs but they ease when I have half a cup of tomato soup or such like. I am so over liquid food and wanting to actually chew. Two more days and will see Dr. Have lost 3kg in 6days. When energy levels drop I suck on barley sugar lollies and they help. Running out of creative ways to make soup and smoothies taste enjoyable. However I see light at the end of the tunnel and they consist of great shopping sprees where I can buy straight of the rack and not aske where the section for fuller figured woman are- roll on

Is anyone feeling hungry? I am now in to day 5 and have had a few moments when I have hunger pangs. I have a small drink (miso) and it goes. How many meals per day did people start with? I carry a bottle of water with me everywhere as being summer here it is very hot. Energy levels were great yesterday but seem a little flat today?
  10. I also got my band on he 28th Janauary. My Drs instruction where week 1 liquid ( if it can go up a straw with no lumps then it is ok) also told to add Protein from week 1 Week two slightly thicker but no lumps- week 3 mushy and the week 4 introducing me to scrambled egg etc. I have not had a problem with making my own smoothies and adds to just having soup or broth. Have not had any problems so far:thumbup: and due to see my Dr on the 4th Feb. Day 4&5 - feeling a bit hungry at times Looking forward to mush:drool:
  11. Had my banding on the 28th January 09 and got the pain in the shoulder. Have been working on trying to make my liquid diet more exciting. Went to the shops today and energy levels not quiet there. Feeling better today, (still have gas problem) Getting to know different signals within my body and trying to recognise them. Felt hungry this afternoon. looking forward to mush:thumbup: Have first visit with my surgeon in 5 days and then follow up in a further week.
  12. Im 3days post-op and today feels better than yesterday, still having some minor problems with wind (gas) especially in my back and when I burp it is also sore. Its been helpful reading others comments and some of the remedies you have tried. Getting really bored with liquid Taking each day as it comes.

My daughter told me that it was like starting ot eat all over again, just like a baby. I see what she means as I am on the pure liquid and the highlight next week is to progress to slightly thicker:biggrin: Each day gets better and I look forward to being able to sit comfortably in an airline seat:thumbup:
