What Protein Supplement do you Prefer?
pottergirl replied to WannaBe1/2TheWoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to Sams club and got the EAS chocolate Whey Protein and made up my own shake recipe..... 1 cup ice chunks 1 cut 2% milk 1 equal packet 1 1/2 scoops Protein Powder Blend until smooth and it tastes amazingly like a chocolate milkshake...you can also add a banana, some strawberries, whatever you want. You do have to buy a large bag of it...I think 70 scoops for 27.00, but those ready made shakes were EXPENSIVE!!! This is much more economical and I have it every day for breakfast.....by the way....there are 40 grams of protein in this shake!!! That's pretty good!!!!! -
Independence Day challenge for Bunny Bandsters

the ONLY thing my surgeon will let me do is walk until my one month Bandiversary - so my hubby and I are walking 2.5 miles - we have it down to 40 minutes, so I feel like that's pretty good for 2 1/2 wks post-op. I'm ready to do yardwork and work out, but am taking it slowly so nothing bad happens.

Staples, Stitches or Glue?
pottergirl replied to Suzdavis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was glued....and the incisions look great 3 weeks post-op. The residue left on my skin around the incisions is taking a while to go away, but I'm going home today and trying the nail polish remover - thanks for posting that!!! -
Gall Blader Surgery
pottergirl replied to texasweb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain from my gallbladder was worse than ANY other pain...and I had both of my children without any meds - au natural' - I was never so thankful to have something out of me!!!! Overnight stay in hospital and then the next day I was up and taking care of my newborn! It's such a relief after you have the surgery, that you have nominal pain with your incisions. DO IT!!!!! -
Dizzy and Lightheaded
pottergirl replied to Txquiltlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
G2 is the best drink I've found - made by Gatorade - has no calories and low carbs and sugars, but it has the electrolytes that help you not to get dehydrated...they have it at Target, Wal-mart and Sams. I love the Grape!!!!! -
Week 3 plateau???
pottergirl replied to jaysmommy1106's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This same subject is on another forum, and everyone said they are experiencing the same thing...my surgery date was April 13th and I'm in the same boat - I'm walking 2.5 miles every other day and can tell inches are coming off, but NO POUNDS. It does get discouraging, but at least I can wear clothes I couldn't previously!!!! Keep going and doing what you are told, I'm sure it will happen for us!!!!!! -
I AM IN THE EXACT PLACE!!!!! I was just talking (complaining) to a co-worker that I'm losing inches, but not pounds. I do get my 60 grams protein per day, and my husband and I are walking 2.5 miles per day, but the scale hasn't moved in 5 days!!!! I'm also 15 days post-op and lost 25 pounds before and the first week after surgery, but now, NOTHING!!! It gets kind of discouraging, but we have to keep pressing on! At least I can wear jeans I haven't worn in a few yeats! Something HAS to be moving!

Hey you guys...glad everyone is doing so well:thumbup:!! Does anyone else have back pain...or any pain that kind of comes the same time every day? I work until 1:00 p.m., by the time I get the kids home and homework going and sit down my back hurts sooooo bad - around 5:00 every day! I've been walking, but it feels good to walk a little, sit a little, about 10 minute intervals. I know I'm not yet 2 wks post-op so it maybe still gas, but it seems weird it's at the same time! Just wonderin! -
surgical tape over incissions...
pottergirl replied to erinshel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I NEVER HAD ANY!!!!! I was superglued together and sent home...it looks great (8 days post-op) and I haven't had any problems with it. Good luck -
Did anyone else start eating mushy food earlier than the 3rd week?
pottergirl replied to azdolfin03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if that isn't part of the reason you do liquids for 2 weeks so that you get used to a whole new way of eating and portion control? I've been on liquids for 8 days now...another 6 to go.....my hunger pains have gone away and I have to remind myself when it's time to do a Protein shake because I could skip them and probably still not be hungry.....totally new feeling after 20 years of bad eating! -

pottergirl replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Today is day 4 post-op for me, and I finally feel human again! I've been up and around, did some laundry, etc...still sore, but nothing like the first 3 days...they weren't good. Make sure you drink your liquids and WALK! The gas is still coming out....how long did that last with everyone else? (BTW I'VE LOST 16 POUNDS SO FAR!!!!!) -

pottergirl replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Things went well for me, today is the first day I've had any real pain, but when I say REAL!!! It's real! It's hard to keep track of all the liquids and protein, but it's going ok...I feel like I have a low-grade fever, but other than that, the experience was well worth it! Keep your GasX right beside your Hydrocodone and Phenegran and you will live! They are my best friends right now. Good luck and thanks for the prayers everyone sent up for us. I'm so thankful it's over and I hope everyone else has as good of an experience as I have had! -
April Bandsters?
pottergirl replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FINALLY DID IT!!!!! This is my first time on since surgery Mon at noon - got out of the hosp Tues at noon. Felt great this morning, but as the day has gone on, I'm pooped! Have only eaten 51 g of protein today - I'm tired of eating and drinking all the time. Just trying to stay hydrated...I think I do have a low-grade fever though. As long as I take my hydrocodone, I'm ok....hoping to get much better in the next few days! Good luck to everyone else...my experience was positive for the most part! -
HEY ALL! We were in Savannah last weekend, and I walked in a nutrition store to get a drink and lo and behold, there is a new carb and sugar free Powerade. It came in 5 or 6 different flavors, and was wonderful - it had some of the electrolytes you need when you get dehydrated....I thought it may be good for after surgery....mine is Monday. This weekend I am looking for it in my home town. Just wondering if anyone else has come across it...hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Letter of Medical Necessity
pottergirl replied to lnmlisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Primary Care charged me 75.00 to write the letter of medical necessity to my surgeon to be submitted to insurance (spelled something wrong and marked it out with a pen on the letter...) I was appalled that I had to pay for the letter when my insurance covers bariatric surgery...still a little confused about that one! Oh well, nothing was going to keep me from getting the surgery done!
