Hey Rannah, where you from? LOL so far in our April 2009 thread under monthly lap band groups there are 3 of us for April 16th. I am from Maryland, Scooby is from California and Abbie-pie is from Texas.

I too am scared that I will fail at this. I am determined that I will make it work, but I have been determined before too. I know I can lose weight, but can never keep it off long term. So I am hoping that this tool will help me do just that. I would really feel like a failure if I can not make this work . But enough with the bad thoughts, we are the Bunny Bandsters. We will succeed

I am sorry but I absolutely just had to comment on this. H. pylori is a bacteria and You CANNOT get it from taking NSAIDS. The cause is not exactly known but the current theory is that it is spread from person to person usually by sharing eating utensils or drinking glasses and also from kissing. There has even been a theory tossed out there that is could be coming from common house flys that land on your food and then you eat it. But I repeat you CANNOT get Helicobacter pylori from taking NSAIDS. -
Under two weeks out and loving my band!

Wow, I am so glad I read this post. I too am a lower BMI candidate. BMI was about 37 when I started this process and not it is about 35. But I also have sleep apena, reflux and a lot of joint and foot pain. As a matter of fact I just got home this morning from having another dumb sleep study, those things suck..LOL. I am sooooo tired of people saying you are not bing ENOUGH fot this surgery. Well what the heck does that mean, that I am fat just not fat enough????? Even the cardiologist I went to said to me are you big enough for this surgery. I think the thing is that people who have never had weight issues just done understand what it is like to struggle with you weight your ENTIRE life. I have done Phen-fen, phentermine, weight watchers, Alli and many other things. The issue is not just losing weight, but Keeping it off. So with this tool I am hoping to lose between 70-80 pounds and not be so self conscious about how I look. Oh and my surgery in coming up---April 16 :frown: -
Wow, we three sure are spread out. Now we just need someone up north and we will have all four points of the US covered..LOL It is good to go to a surgeon that you trust. I personally work at the hospital where I will be having my surgery. I have never had my doc do any surgery on me before but I have met with him several times and am comfortable with him. I hear he is a great surgeon and a bit of a perfectionist, so I guess that is good. And his wife is the person in the office who sets up and handles everyones appointments and gets insurance approvals and she is really nice too. I did find out that my doc requires an overnight stay too. I had gone into this thinking it would be outpatient then got a suprise at our last support group meeting. But that is ok as long as everything goes Ok I dont mind staying overnight. As for your job, hopefully with this surgery it will give you that confidance to tell him to kiss your butt . I know that I am hoping I will be less self conscious about my weight to go out and do more things too. Good Luck

Hey Abbie and Scooby, My surgery is also April 16th. I am in Maryland, I see Scooby is in California..where are you located Abbie? Also dont rush back to work, you want to make sure you are going to be comfortable enough to go back to work. I originally was planning to hopefully have my surgery on either a tue or wed and then go back the following Monday. But my surgeon only does them every other week on Thursdays. So for me that means out thur and fri and then the next week is National Medical Laboratory Professionals week and we will have lots of food and stuff at work so I took that whole week off too. I figured why torture myself by being around all that food and stuff while I am on a liquid diet What type of pre-op diets do you guys have to follow? I was pleasantly suprised when i found out I would have to do a low calorie high protein diet. So it is like 2 shakes a day and 2 lean cuisne type meals and small amt of veggies and fruit. Well good luck to us all

Welcome Marcy, I too am from Maryland, but on the eastern shore near Salisbury. I work at the hospital where my surgery is being performed on April 16  cant wait. I have noticed that since I have made my decision there are lots of people coming out of the woodwork that have had it done. Just make sure you go to any support meetings that are nearby, it really helps to meet other people that you can talk to. Jen

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
Jenfs5 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sissy, I had to look these up too as I have never heard of them. And I found out that Peppridge farm is the parent company and they are having a special thing where they will be at Target thru the month of March. But I just realized this is probably bad news since many of us are starting our pre-op diets....Sorry -
I have GERD and Gastro Pariesses...
Jenfs5 replied to kaitlynmarie93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats ok, when i re-read it it did sound kind of like I was keeping something from my doc. I was just so excited to actually hear from someone out there whose symptoms sounded so like mine that I got carried away. -
I have GERD and Gastro Pariesses...
Jenfs5 replied to kaitlynmarie93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
monkey, Thanks for your concern. I guess I should have been clearer and said that the only thing I did not tell my surgeon is my suspected self diagnosis. He is aware of all my symptoms and multiple tests I have had and multiple medications I have been put on. I even had to do yet another upper GI for him. So for me that makes about 3 or 4 upper GI's, one upper GI small bowel follow thru (in which case they gave me so much barium to get it moving that they said they could not give me anymore and had me walking up and down the street to see if it would move), an EGD and multiple ultrasounds. -
I have GERD and Gastro Pariesses...
Jenfs5 replied to kaitlynmarie93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kaitlyn, I must say this is the first time I have run into gastroparesis on this board. But to be honest I believe that is what I have too. I have only been diagnosed with GERD b/c I dont know how many doctors just dont listen to what I have told them. I was prescribed Reglan before (it is a motility drug that makes the food move faster thru your stomach) but it makes me fall asleep. And I do mean literally fall asleep. I took it before dinner on a cruise one night and fell asleep at the dining room table.:tongue_smilie: Does yours flare up and then go away? Mine does that all the time. And I notice it happens (the vomiting part) mostly when I drink after I eat and since we are not supposed to do that with the band then I am hoping it wont be a problem. Also if you look at what people on here call a PB that sounds like what I do all the time when mine flares up..LOL Gross huh? I dont know if this helps but it is sure nice to see someone who kinda knows what it is like. Jen -

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
Jenfs5 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok guys I need some help. I have my Bunny Bandster banner in my sig. But I made a weight ticker but cant figure out how to get it in there. I am not exactly the best with computers LOL. Thanks Jen -
Ok, now I am jealous. I want a peep in my sig too . I think that is one thing I am really going to miss eating this easter. I LOVE stale peeps sooooooo much. LOL Jen
-
Well we never really had an official vote. It was tossed out there if anyone had any ideas and I think the only 2 we got were shamrockers and bunny bandsters. Some of us decieded that shamrockers was cool but we were not being banded in March and it did not fit so well, And then we just took the bunny bandsters and ran with it.
-
Sissy, if you want you can copy mine or make your own too. I like the colors of mine b/c they are springish and remind me of easter bunnies...LOL
-
Cool, I know where that is. I used to go up there to figure skate at Piney Orchard sometimes in the summer when our rink was closed. I always was a bit plumper than most of the other skaters, this year I have not even gone back to the rink..

OK, if this darn glitter thing does not work this time I think I am going to give up
-
trying again
-
hmm, trying to see if this sparkle thing worked

Scopolomine Patches... Please Read!
Jenfs5 replied to BEK1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bek, that totally sucks they should have told you that before they put it on you. As you found out it is a very common side effect along with dry mouth. I personally use them all the time when I go on cruises. I am familiar with and do have the side effects and that is why I usually only put half a patch on at a time (cut it in half and leave that half on for 3-4 days and then after that put the other half on) so the box of 5 lasts me forever. -
Sissy, thanks for organizing a chart with our dates. It is kind of cool to see (in one place) when all of our surgeries are.

Hey Sherry, where do you live in Maryland. I am near Salisbury Jen

P/O Diet More Than I Thought
Jenfs5 replied to lsmmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Umm this thread is about the PRE-OP diet not post-op. Post-op diet should be all liquid for at least a couple of weeks before moving to pureed and then soft foods. Of course that may vary slightly from doc to doc
